## What is MFL Guide Log?

MFL Guide Log is the field companion for Montana Fly Fishing Lodge guides. Capture every detail of the day on the water — morning and afternoon sessions, river conditions, fly patterns, techniques, hatch activity, and guide notes — all from your phone.

Built for guides who spend their days on Montana's finest rivers, MFL Guide Log replaces paper logs with a streamlined digital workflow:

• Log morning and afternoon sessions independently — because conditions change
• Record fish caught, water temp, air temp, flow, clarity, and weather
• Track flies, techniques, hatch activity, and leader setups
• Add trip photos and detailed guide notes
• Voice dictation for hands-free note-taking on the water
• Generate professional PDF reports for each trip
• Upload logs directly to your lodge's shared Google Drive
• Search team log history to prep for upcoming trips — see what's been working on any stretch

Your daily logs build a living knowledge base for the entire guide team. The more you log, the sharper the intel gets.

Designed and built by Montana Fly Fishing Lodge. Elevated, authentic Montana — on and off the water.

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 1.6.2 — 2026-07-19

Version 1.6.2

Three builds' worth of improvements for your day on the water.

• Voice-fill for guide logs — tap the Morning or Afternoon tab, speak a quick summary of the session, and tap Fill. Fish count, water/air temp, clarity, flow, weather, flies, technique, hatch, and leader setup all pre-fill from what you said — review and edit before saving. Nothing submits automatically.

• Built for no signal on the river — Today's Assignment, your guest list, and guest medical/allergy flags are now cached on your phone and still show up even with zero bars, with a clear "last synced" note instead of a blank screen. Voice-fill also warns you up front if you're offline, instead of spinning and failing after 30 seconds.

• NEW: Tap a client's name — Today's Assignment now opens a bigger, easier-to-read profile when you tap a client's name: experience level, fishing preference, gear sizes, license status, allergy/dietary/medical flags, and emergency contact all in one clean view. When a boat has more than one client, swipe or use the on-screen arrows to move between them.

• Reliability fixes: voice-fill's dictation box now uses your keyboard's own microphone (fixed a bug where it could silently stop working), and the box scrolls above the keyboard while you're dictating so you can see what you're saying land.

Thanks for using MFL Guide Log — tight lines.

### 1.6.1 — 2026-06-28

Voice-to-Log: speak or type a quick summary of your day and the app fills your
log for you — fish count, conditions, flies, technique, and more — in the
fly-fishing shorthand you already use ("a number sixteen elk hair caddis"
becomes "#16 Elk Hair Caddis").

Now works on the river without signal: your assignment, guest details, and
saved logs are available offline, and new logs and photos sync automatically
when you're back in range.

Plus stability and polish fixes.

### 1.6.0 — 2026-06-26

New: fill your log by voice.

Tap "Fill from voice" on the Morning or Afternoon tab and talk through your
session — fish count, water and air temps, clarity, flow, weather, the flies
and techniques you ran, hatch, and leader. The app drops it all into the right
fields for you to review and tweak before you save. Less thumbing the keyboard
at the ramp, more time on the oars.

Also in this release:
• A Privacy Policy link now lives in Settings.

### 1.5.1 — 2026-06-20

• Fixed an issue where photos taken on iPhone (HEIC format) could silently fail to upload without any error message. The app now retries photo processing and shows a clear alert if a photo can't be prepared for upload.
• Improved reliability of photo uploads to the log entry — the app now correctly identifies each photo's file type throughout the upload process, preventing mismatches that could cause failures on some devices.

### v1.5.0 (37) — 2026-06-15

Photo uploads are now faster and more reliable.
