The main feature which NEEDS to be added is custom led modes. I use the LED controllers in some custom tube lights and I really want to be able to make custom strobe patterns but that’s just not possible at the minute, I can only use the limited selection of lighting effects. I’ve been using it for several months now after I had to change from a previous WiFi/Bluetooth controller that went bad. Polecam! ### 4/5 — Decent for RGB Landscape Lights *2021-11-13, version 2.6* The app was easy to set up and does a good job controlling 8 zones of WiFi RGBW landscape lights. Would really like if the pre-programmed memorized routines could be user customized and saved. Also would be nice if the user can customize the zone names. Hopefully in a future update. ### 4/5 — Good app but... *2020-11-03* This app does what it should and works fine. I just wishers there were more options to customize the colours and effects of my lighting. For example: I really like the fade but you have no control over the colours. During different holidays would be nice to select different colours to go with certain effects. Other than that all good. ### 4/5 — Hard work to configure. *2020-07-28, version 2.0* I will give it 4 out of 5 for the app working with net work box but 2 out of 10 for being able to configure and some of features don’t work. Instructions are pigeon English and not in depth if you hit a problem. Problems :- 1st email address the app failed to send authentication code. 2nd email worked so was able to configure app. So app was configured on phone... Next had to configure network box with phone and router. If you use a BT dual frequency router then you have to disable dual separate the 5 ghz / 2.4ghz and turn off 5 ghz to get the network to connect. Final stage is to configure lights to network box and app. In order to select lights you have to select the remote control (even if you don’t have a remote control) to configure the lights. No where is written down in the instructions and no where can I find any other instructions or a help website for the product manufacturer. The good thing is it seems to work so reasonably happy. Things to improve the app :- Allow zones to be named. Not zone 1-8 as you forget which is which. The on of schedule timer is rubbish. So if you want to turn on and off then I don’t see how yet. I think the app is work in progress. ### 4/5 — Zone Names *2020-02-09, version 1.8* Please can you add a function to rename the zones, on the MiLight 3.0 app i am able to name all four of my light zones but cannot see how it is possible on the MiBoxer app. Also it would be great to be able to control each zone separately from google assistant rather than having to control all devices on a 2.4ghz gateway as one. Great to see the MiLight products evolving slowly ### 3/5 — Needs improvement to timers *2024-04-12, version 2.6* Would be great if it had the function to set timers to come on / off at Sunset / Sunrise. ### 3/5 — Clunky but gives timer options. *2023-02-10, version 2.6* Having discovered "Auraglow" bulbs and their quality, I found I was missing the ability to set timers and remote access etc. The standard handset controllers for Zones, modes and temperature are excellent. I thought by adding the gateway I'd get even more functionality, which I did. I don't use Alexa or similar so really all I achieved was the ability to setup on off timers and control manually by phone interface. The "gateway" unit is small and plugs into any usb socket you may have spare. Mines plugged into the router. Downloaded app and registered, you have a small window to activate your account but all went smoothly. You have to add your "gateway" to list of devices and once recognised you can choose the controller you are mirroring. Lights paired with gateway seemlessly. It's once you get the virtual controller on screen that the whole thing seems a little less polished. To setup the actual lights and so on I'm preferring the hand held manual controller. At least on the handset I can see all the zones in one place rather than have the ability to only select and control one at a time. Would be useful to link zones together so I can have same lighting through zones instead of navigating back and forth trying to copy settings. The bulbs are some of the best I have come across. The setup and control on manual handsets are just amazing. The gateway gives you that additional functionality you may need .. The interface could just do with some polish.
