### 1/5 — Slow, freezes, locks up, poor “sketch “

*2023-01-21, version 6.7*

All I can do is open tickets and hope someone notices the amount of bugs/issues in this app. Support is minimal and generic; “ re-install “ app, re-login, etc.

### 1/5 — Everyone hates MICA

*2023-01-03, version 6.7*

This has got to be the worst poorly written app I have ever been forced to use for the last 4 years. We did not even need this app as dry track functioned better and faster - appears nextgear tried to get involved with the insurance companies it saw us working with when they synced Xact. The result? A method of scoring us and throttling our equipment set which is this app to save them $$$. From an efficiency standpoint, nextgear really screwed vendors over by releasing this. Restore mobile was already bad, however it’s dry track made moisture mapping quick and efficient. Removing that and forcing all employees to go back and forth between 2 websites and a broken app is an efficiency nightmare I hear people having to fix all the time because jobs didn’t export or people forget to export. This app is so slow I could do it faster on paper and adds to the stress when in cat mode. Exporting does not work half the time, you can override other people’s data, search function is broken, and the UI is a disaster. Not to mention I’ve seen zero improvements or innovation. Notes do not sync names when made in mica to restore notes, and they can’t email the PM notes like they used to making it harder to track your progress. I don’t think anybody is actually listening to those in the field using this on a daily basis. I would not recommend this app and dream of the day I no longer have to use it every day.

### 1/5 — Horrible

*2022-12-31, version 6.7*

I’ve been using this application for years and I have always noticed one major problem. you do not want to complete your MICA trips when you’re out of range it will destroy and lose your information because this is a completely flawed application that should be erased redone whatever this application has only gotten worse over time.

### 1/5 — Shocked this is what large insurance co’s use

*2022-10-25, version 6.7*

This app is a reminder of the 90’s. Nothing ever works correctly, I’m on call with tech support daily since the apps never sync to system. The phone app works 10% of the time. I spend 25% of my day trying to make sure everything is properly inputted into this system. Multiple exports and downloads just to get info from one place to another. Blows my mind as a technologically inclined individual. Hire a new UI/UX guy holy heck….

### 1/5 — Buggy, inferior, and unfinished

*2022-10-06, version 6.7*

This app is fleshed out in all of the wrong places. There’s no need for 1000 color options to color code dry chambers. The search option is buggy. Adding pictures is buggy. There’s an option to add desiccant dehumidifiers, but you can’t add them from there. You can add them. They’re just in a secret location. Ask live support! I have several conversations with them every week! Some of them are pretty nice even!

Ultimately, between the garbage user interface, all of the bugs, and my frequent conversations with live support, I find MICA to be a colossal waste of time and money.

### 1/5 — I’m back for another review

*2022-05-11, version 6.5*

I’ve come back to yet again state this app is barely functional and because carriers only use this app for dry tracking we are forced to deal with its issues. If you could atleast get the app to stop freezing on startup or searching jobs that would be a start thanks.

### 1/5 — Awful

*2020-06-13, version 4.17.1008*

Absolutely aweful. I have been drying properties for over 20 years. Currently use 19 different programs to facilitate this and this is by far the worst I have ever seen. The amount of data required to complete a project is cumbersome and ridiculous. The system, all versions of it, is clunky and difficult to move through a loss from wet to dry. Data logging should be simple, fast and create easily understood reports. This system achieves neither.

### 1/5 — Loses all data regularly including photos

*2019-10-14, version 3.2.100*

Mica doesn’t work properly in the field. The sketch function doesn’t work at all. The program regularly loses crucial job data (photos, signed documents, record of drying conditions). The desktop version is better than mobile but still inefficient and prone to losing data. When you contact Nextgear for support it’s a waste of time and they like to blame user error. They “fix” the job and then it errors out on you again. We spent 3 days fixing data in a job and lost it all over again. Nextgear writes the worst software I’ve ever used. We use Xactimate mobile in the field on every job and never experience all of these software issues you get with Nextgear products.

### 1/5 — Very dis-organized during set up of software

*2019-05-09, version 3.2.100*

I am continually blown away by how disorganized this company has been during the purchase and On boarding of this software. The only reason I’m using it is to meet the requirements of the TPAs. I guess this is the problem when you have work given to you with no regard to the quality or delivery of the service.

In a Amazon world MICA software is a Sears and roebuck.

### 1/5 — It’s NextGear What do you expect

*2019-03-28, version 3.2.100*

There programs, all of them, MICA, Restore 365, Dry Track, Moisture Mapper, all clunky, times out, takes forever to load, apps quit in the middle of doing something, supposed to make job easier their apps add hours to your day.

### 1/5 — Very difficult to use

*2019-01-08, version 3.2.100*

This app is trash we have been forced to start using it at work. It doubles the time spent doing paper work on water losses I did not think next gear was capable of making an app that’s worse than restore365 but they have proved me wrong with this one. This app adds so much stress to my life. 0/10 would not recommend

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — No more updates?

*2025-10-14*

There is still countless glitches and problems making everyone’s job 10x harder than it needs to be. Please sit down and get back to work otherwise please shut down this app so we can go back to easier times with dry track. We do not want to use mitigate, you sold us on mica and now that we’ve all switched over you’ve given up on it? Where does all the money go??

### 1/5 — No updates in over a year?? Is this a sick joke?

*2025-09-07*

Can someone please investigate this negligent lazy company. 99% of us still rely on this app and the desktop. Both of which do not feel like they were ever finished. The sketch feature is criminally terrible. Walls are rooms folded into a straight line that create duplicate ghost rooms on the list that don’t exist and confuse everyone. Light years behind Xactimate’s. I don’t understand how anyone can take this seriously anymore or why we continue to get the absolute worst software experience from a company claiming to be industry leading in restoration software. None of us decided on this it feels like an insurance company had a Groupon and wanted to create a system that forces invoices to be reduced via lack of data. There are countless glitches we are forced to navigate around and everyone I know claims this thing does not export or save properly but instead crashes or freezes causing you to start all over again. I really hope NextGear/Core Logic/ Cotality gets sued for putting us through this nightmare because we do this for work, our careers, income, family while the devs act like this is a side hustle for fun.

### 1/5 — Needs an update

*2025-04-09, version 7.2*

Can’t do my job properly because this app keeps crashing and killing itself. Fix this trash.

### 1/5 — Gateway to bad payouts in insurance

*2025-03-12*

This program should in no way shape or form be involved in insurance settlements. Insurances companies love it because it’s already saved them a substantial amounts of money on payouts by not correctly saving data used to justify payment for equipment or services. This data is then used to pay home owners for the remaining repairs with the absolute bare minimum so contractor bids always come in with larger repair scope, then adjusters blame the mitigation process as to why they cannot include anything else leaving home owners short changed every time unless an adjuster shows up at their house after mitigation is complete. Perfect example of why no matter how good/useful someone thinks an app can be it will never replace actual people in the field. Nextgears app actually worked with drying records there was no need to create and push this second app that had to be replaced by a third one.

### 1/5 — Data loss, poor pricing, no resources.

*2025-01-08, version 7.2*

Constantly we lose data in the field and are even fined by the companies that choose to force us to use this garbage for “improper use” I have never had this issue with Magic Plan or service titan. And you are so bad you force people to use xcatimate for 500$/mo unlike your competitors who allow us to use any integration you can think of.

I hate this app. I hate using it. I hate being forced to use it.
If you hate your vendors make them use this. It’s dog water used to boil hot dogs.

### 1/5 — How do I give -stars?

*2023-06-26, version 6.7*

This app is constantly trying to kill itself. It drains your battery like a hole in a bucket and causes your phone to heat up dramatically. It crashes, bugs out and just straight up doesn’t work. Awful.

### 1/5 — Prehistoric

*2023-05-07, version 6.7*

MICA was once cutting edge technology, unfortunately it has become the obsolete software. Many way better options with way more features and integrations!!!

### 1/5 — Needs better field functionality on modern iPhones/androids

*2023-05-06, version 6.7*

Feels slow and outdated and for the amount of time it’s been in the industry. Field employees often do not use the desktop version of restore and going back to fix errors and glitches on their data is a cost of time and money when invoices depend on this app. Would advise on getting serious on improving general functionality and listening to those using this app for hours on a daily basis.

### 1/5 — Embarrassing our company

*2023-02-03, version 6.7*

My techs and managers have to fumble this this software in the customers home. By far the biggest problem is the sketch function of the app on the tablet. I just spent an hour fighting with a sketch that took me 5 minutes in xactimate. The walls default to overlap. The sketch zooms in too tight when you need look at the entire room, then won’t hold the zoom in when you are trying to work on a small offset or closet. The walls randomly create absurd angles. It’s the opposite of intuitive. Please fire your software team that is in charge of this function of app and just start from scratch. It couldn’t possibly be worse. Best in Class😂

### 1/5 — Not Reliable

*2023-02-03, version 6.7*

Doesn’t track well. Many issues with this app from beginning to end. Loss important job photos, proper documents required doesn’t come up. And much more. Tech support not helpful.

## Most praised reviews (5 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Recent update

*2026-03-07, version 8.0*

Thank you for the recent update, solved a lot of glitches I noticed suddenly vanished without realizing it was updated. Please continue work on this app as there is still more tweaking needed but the improvement was noticeable and deserves a thank you as there was a long period there where it was needed.

### 5/5 — Great App

*2020-08-27, version 4.50.36*

Capturing all the information required to produce a professional remediation on a water loss is incredibly difficult but this software simplifies the task immensely.
It’s intuitive step-by-step process is logical and simple enough for most water technicians to follow even if they are not tech savvy.
The software makes it easier for our coordinators to ensure the job is progressing As it should.

### 4/5 — Far better than Mitigate.

*2025-12-03, version 8.0*

I’ve used mica for years and it has its kinks but it is serviceable.

I have used mitigate because I’m being mandated and it is just awful.

Only 4 because mica did have some short comings, but nothing perfect.

Will miss you old friend.

### 3/5 — Still a pain

*2018-08-31*

This app for iPhone and iPad still remain two steps backward. Navigation and design is still clunky, like 20th century programming. The only real update, since Nextgear purchased it, is the logo. The logo is nice, by the way. The navigation really blends well with Nextgear’s other suite of archaic functioning software. Their tech support is exceptional, but program design....not so much. Sketching small areas with your finger is an extreme test of patience. I can manually input all of the data, and manually figure the calculations on a spreadsheet, faster than I get through the first 3 sections of MICA. Like other types of mitigation software, they are too concerned with being the all-in-one process controller. If that was needed, then certifications would be a waste of time and money...sort of like using this program.

### 2/5 — Needs improvements when uploading pictures

*2022-09-17, version 6.7*

Uploading and naming pictures should be an easier process. It’s the most time consuming part when I feel like it can be more efficiently done
