### 1/5 — Materials Glitch

*2023-02-07, version 6.64*

I keep losing “Drywall” and I don’t know how or why. Drywall is in 99.9% of homes!

### 1/5 — Horrible app, I mean like legit bad

*2023-01-30, version 6.64*

I’d rather deal with the TPA THAN USE THIS APP

### 1/5 — Buggy

*2022-09-16*

A lot of the features don’t work the way they should. Mica is vital to our business. Tear out feature doesn’t work as it should. The sketching is awful, adding doors is is a pain and it moves around on its own. All the customer service helps with is telling you to uninstall and reinstall.

**Developer response:** Please don’t give up on us yet! We’re always working to improve our apps and the user experience.

### 1/5 — What a joke

*2022-02-27*

Need to delete app and re-download whenever I want to use it. Customer service always needs to call you back, sometimes days later; they spend all their time catering to insurance carriers.

**Developer response:** Every rating is an opportunity for us to better understand where we’re falling short of our users’ expectations. Thank you for the feedback.

### 1/5 — Sketch is frustratingly bad

*2021-06-21, version 6.2.240*

Most of us don’t have a choice but to use this garbage app. 0 stars. Trash.

### 1/5 — Microsoft paint is a better sketch tool

*2021-04-29*

And is more intuitive! In fact you should add support for Microsoft paint

I never have felt more limited by a program. I could do the entire work flow by pen and paper faster than than the bottleneck that is the sketch feature, which defeats the purpose of having a brand new iPad. It’s buggy, lord, is it buggy. The software will freeze, and need to be reset every 15-20 minutes of use. Not to mention the auto adjustments for sketching are infuriating. It’s like you programmed a software suite for people who have teeny tiny hands, some Donald trump baby hands. Even with a stylus, it’s genuinely a chore. Sub-3ft walls are impossible to adjust and offsets might as well be a punishment for misbehaving children

### 1/5 — Sketch,moisture entry

*2021-03-13*

I spoke with someone at MICA about installing a feature to allow you to center the sketch at anytime. It is very time consuming to get into the sketch on a large house and end up going to the edge of the screen, then having to grab every room and move it individually. I know mine sometimes only allows one move per touch and then you have to leave the sketch to come back and make another single move. Also, entering numbers into the moisture mapper. If I enter 100 it will take 10-15 seconds for it to show up. The answer to any questions at the help desk is “did you do a hard reboot”.

It is now 2021
I am in the middle of a CAT event (Texas freeze) my MICA is not working. Mainly the sketch feature that freezes and deletes. I called in for help and was basically was told my 2.5 year old IPAD was to old. I was hurting so bad a immediately dropped $1,000 on a new one and the app still does not work. Then to be told the tier 2 escalation team does not come I. Until 3 pm is ridiculous. The tech help recommendations were turn it off, reboot, close out the app and reinstall. This one was the craziest one of all whenever you want to add windows turn the IPAD to landscape to install windows. I have spent many hours on the phone to get off the phone with a App that still does not work.. DONT WASTE HOUR MONEY ON THIS GARBAGE

**Developer response:** We understand how frustrating it can be when you are in the field and cannot rely on your instruments—in this case, our application. Your feedback is well received, and we are looking into ways to improve the experience for you and the rest of our MICA users.

In regards to the slowness you are experiencing when entering readings; MICA is designed to function offline so you can record the conditions of the loss without requiring connectivity. Consequently, this means jobs must be downloaded to your device. If you are experiencing general slowness in the application, we recommend minimizing the quantity of jobs downloaded to your device.

Obviously, during a CAT situation like what occurred in Texas this can be tricky (if not impossible), but if you try to maintain the list of jobs downloaded to your device, you should notice a marked improvement in overall performance.

### 1/5 — Falls very short

*2021-02-01*

Next gear does not offer any actual training - only their 2-3 crappy videos shot over the shoulder by amateurs

**Developer response:** Thank you for the feedback. We are sorry to hear you are not having a positive experience with the training for our application.

We do offer a robust catalogue of training for the mobile app in our training center, Next Gear University, which includes guided walkthroughs of the workflow in MICA. Hopefully, you can find the training you need there.

Will you please reach out to us at support@nextgearsolutions.com for additional assistance?

### 1/5 — Awful User Experience

*2020-07-28*

This app has a terrible user experience and the workflow is not intuitive. You will spend more time running in circles with this app than completing a water damage properly. This is not well done.

### 1/5 — App has problems

*2020-03-27, version 6.2.100*

Unsolved problems, can’t see past readings, crashes, sketch always glitches out and starts moving walls around, changes measurements. Slow, no auto save feature, so when you spend a good amount of time typing a note, and it crashes, your note is gone. Or if you accidentally click a button, there goes your note.

### 1/5 — No updates in over a year

*2020-02-20*

There hasn't been an update on this app in over a year but they still force us to use it. The app is incompatible with the new ios update. What a joke!

### 1/5 — I know your game, NextGear.

*2020-02-11*

Just because you contracted with Farmers and the alacrity programs while contracted with Service Master Corporate for the Restore 365 application(now known as NextGear) and you make enough money, doesn’t save you from the fact that you have severe issues with your software’s services and it’s basic mechanics. I use your application (MICA and NextGear) on an IPad Pro(lastest model) that’s running the latest apple A12 processor, and your application still has issues so your IT team’s lame excuse of ‘you need to hard restart’ and ‘it’s the device you’re using’, goes right out of the window. All of your programs, including MICA mitigation software, have bad ratings and are from people being forced to use this application by their employers/corporate offices/job programs. These are the people you should be listening to. You can only last so long before ServiceMaster decides to make it’s own software like ServPro did, and insurance adjusters and agents are already aware of the issues your software presents. It’s only a matter of time before insurance companies start listening to the complaints from their employees.

### 1/5 — Awful

*2019-06-27*

Everybody else has pretty much summed it up. This app constantly freezes and crashes. And when it is actually working, it is SLOW. The sketch feature is a complete joke and about as unintuitive as it gets, with no easy way to do small rooms because the touch sensitivity is so clunky. Big sketches are almost impossible because the zoom/center tool doesn’t work at all. The readings section is also extremely buggy with moisture readings getting placed at the wrong data point if you change pages or cancel a reading before you save.

I never rate apps but this one is so bad I had to say something. It is a massive shame I have to use this software every day and apologize to customers constantly because I can’t get the forms section to load. This joke of an app just adds more time and stress to a job that already has plenty of both. MICA should be ashamed they are collecting money from this broken app, but they don’t have to use it so why should they care.

### 1/5 — Every time I have to deal with MICA my day is ruined!

*2018-02-07, version 5.0.94*

This app makes the simplest tasks into the biggest headaches. I will go over a few major issues with this app. You can not do your sketch in xactimate, you have to do the sketch in MICA then transfer it over to Xactimate. Using xactimate you can do a sketch in half the time and it is far more accurate than MICA. Inputting moisture readings in MICA is extremely time consuming compared to using Moisture Mapper and the information is not well organized on MICA. MICA seems to always require an update on the computer app,the website or on the tablet app. If one of the updates is not done there is a good chance nothing will transfer and you will have errors. At this time there is an important update required for the tablet but you can not get it through the App Store, you have to email MICA and then they will send you the update. MICA has told everyone how this app just flows and makes everything run smooth and efficient but in reality this program is very buggy and requires significantly more time to complete dry out documentation than using other company's software.

MICA is also not Mac compatible for the computer app.

MICA please use the sketch from Xactimate! I could do a sketch faster on an etch a sketch than you can on this app. I am using an iPad Pro with the Apple Pencil and this app does not allow movement of short walls under 2 to 2.5 feet. Also you can not get into preferences to name small rooms on a sketch you must go to floor areas to name the small rooms. The glitches the app still has a couple years later is unreal.

Please read your reviews and you will see people have many issues with this program. Countless hours are being unnecessarily wasted making the wheel more round with this program.

### 1/5 — MICA is just a bad deal

*2014-01-22, version 1.0.1*

MICA is a truly terrible piece of software. First Choice Repair forces contractors to use this sub-par, time consuming and expensive software. If you know how to work a camera, take notes, take moisture readings, and fill out a form then you are not need of this software. At the price of $85 a month plus $7 for every job over two this is ridiculously priced software. As a contractor I’m used to being gouged by insurance companies and third party administrators but this is taking it to a whole new level. Forcing us to use a software that is unorganized, unintuitive, and timely is really unfair but the cost seals the deal. The reports this app creates are gibberish to most adjusters and water technicians. The fact that the app makes equipment recommendations is almost laughable. Technicians should be properly trained and they won’t need such silly recommendations. Between this and the percentage First Choice Repair takes and the percentage Xactimate takes it really is not worth the time to do business with this program.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Paying Hundreds for Constant issues

*2024-12-26*

Sketch cannot center, constant crashing, and every time I label a bathroom all measurement disappear

### 1/5 — Mica trash

*2024-07-10*

This app is complete garbage. Never works especially on large losses. If you call support, they escalate to tier 2 which I don’t even think exists because we’ve never heard from them in the years I’ve used this app.

### 1/5 — 0 Stars

*2024-07-02*

App does not save sketches. Very glitchy, only use this because insurance requires it. Can not get work done with this. Very inefficient

### 1/5 — Abysmal

*2024-06-12, version 6.85*

The worst mitigation app out there. It’s like you hired a bunch of 5 year old Pakistani kids to write the code. I loathe having to use the clunky, buggy, subpar tool.

### 1/5 — App is trash

*2024-04-25*

Forced to use this by insurance programs and I’m pretty sure they like this app to not function properly just so you can miss deadlines get docked fees.

### 1/5 — Terrible!

*2024-04-08*

This app is horrendous! Nothing is intuitive, and it constantly deletes readings/ information.

### 1/5 — Nonsense

*2024-03-28*

The requirements we have to use this garbage validation software is beyond nuts considering all of the issues I have with even getting a functioning shell from the morons who force me to use this junk.

### 1/5 — If I could give 0 stars I would

*2024-03-26*

This program is complete GARBAGE! If this industry didn’t make us use this program, we wouldn’t. It never works, sketches are glitchy and take forever to correct, readings duplicate or disappear on creating final pdf reports, program is slow, shuts down, just trash. This program would be better if you employed elementary school kids to write it.

### 1/5 — Horrible Product

*2024-03-20*

Terrible in every possible way.

### 1/5 — Horrible

*2023-03-31*

Wish I didn’t have to eat, then I wouldn’t have to work and use this app

## Most praised reviews (3 highest-rated)

### 3/5 — Are they listening to us?

*2018-02-28*

It seems with each update, the app seems to be more & more of a pain to use. From adding in more & more obstacles to go through for a simple input, closing out by itself constantly, losing data for no reason, etc.

The app has potential, but so far is a lower tier option.

If any devs are reading this, the option to delete multiple jobs at once would do wonders.

### 2/5 — New update is horrible..

*2023-08-22*

I updated the new update for mica, well I didn’t it updated its self, and now it’s not showing the moisture readings, I put when I started job, and when I do add a point reading it takes away the other readings I had there, I recommend this mica to get a whole new update or bring back the old one.

### 2/5 — Not a well made program

*2017-08-27, version 5.0.40*

The app navigates like a cheap made China knock-off. You'll probably notice the misspelling. It's had "Advanced Serach" for a while. "Serach?" Really? For what this app costs, you'd think it'd be a smooth flowing process. I'm only required to use this app with certain TPA's, but decided to use it for all mitigation jobs. One assignment will take 2 hours or better to setup for daily monitoring, and that's with a small and uncomplicated chamber with about 3-4 easy to sketch rooms. The sketch app is probably the top annoyance. It does not allow you enough detail to sketch properly. If you have a house with angles and offset walls, you'll want to throw the tablet before you get anything close to the correct dimensional layout. Also, be aware that the app will occasionally crash before you're done sketching, and it will delete everything you've entered from the last manual save, up to the point it crashed, and if it's a newly created job, you guessed it, that hour you just spent entering data was wasted, and you'll have to start all over. You will have to learn to input, save, input, save... This app doesn't automatically sync with the server, so if you have to reset your device for any reason, you will lose all data associated with any job not uploaded to the server. I just lost a large job with 5 days worth of mitigation data. The assignment didn't require MICA, but I'm still hating this monstrosity right now because of the time I wasted using this app. I could keep on and on about other aspects, but it falls on deaf ears. I guess they make enough money from required usage fees, they probably don't care about improvements. I'm not here to rate it, but the customer service is fast and pleasant. I just wished the app was.... *NOTE* I uploaded an assignment to the server on the 1st day, for another large mitigation assignment that requires MICA usage. After resetting my device, I find out that the next 4 days of mitigation data did not sync, and all data entry is lost. Thanks MICA, for making my job miserable!
