## What is Michael?

If you're an HGV driver, a roadworks operator, or simply towing, you need to download Michael as soon as possible.

Second, this navigation won’t reroute you mid-route. For example, if there’s suddenly a 10–15-minute or 1-hour delay ahead, you won’t receive an alternative route if you’ve already set off. You’ll be kept on the main roads regardless of what happens ahead.

DO NOT subscribe to or use the app if you’re not happy with this decision. Seek an alternative satnav

### 5/5 — Best Hgv sat nav

*2026-08-29*

Best sat nav for Hgv I have shown people and also highly recommended to anyone looking for sat nav for anything never faced an issue anywhere and have always been safe routes with no danger in front like low bridges or anything you have to be worried about this app only gets better and better with more updates it has so many features that no other sat nav has that helps so much like drone mode it’s amazing

### 5/5 — Excellent sat nav

*2026-08-21*

Definitely the best HGV sat nav I have used

**Developer response:** Thanks mate safe trip 👍

### 5/5 — 1st impression after a shift

*2026-07-11*

I used it last night for my night shift shift. I traveled up to Glasgow from Haydock. All round fantastic when it comes to planning a route, the satellite map helps when needing to find the goods-in entrance of a site. A con I’ve found is when you are driving your calculated route, you can’t zoom in or out on apple car play. Which is annoying as though I can only see about 800m ahead on the satnav, so it doesn’t allow me to plan ahead. It does however allow me to zoom in and out when I haven’t set a calculated route which is weird. Is there something I’m missing or did I inadvertently file a bug report who knows, I’ll change my rating if it gets fixed. Hopefully it gets fixed in the next day or so, as though I only have a 3 day trial. This HGV nav is so much better than Tomtom go apart from that one thing.

**Developer response:** Thanks for the feedback, bud.

Yes, the CarPlay issue has been fixed in the upcoming update. You’ll be able to adjust the camera however you see fit.

As I didn’t have any previous experience with CarPlay, this was an oversight on my end. I had set a single camera value for all screens, which simply wasn’t the right approach. Some screens are larger, some are smaller, so while it might have looked great on mine, it could look terrible on yours.

With the update, you’ll be able to go to Settings (on your phone) and adjust the camera to suit your screen. You can even set different camera positions for Urban, Normal, and Motorway speeds.

### 5/5 — Best truck nav available

*2026-06-16*

Best truck nav I’ve used. The routing is impeccable and there’s not an address I haven’t found. I go to a lot of obscure farms in Scotland and this has found them all. It has satellite mode too so up there with google maps for finding weird places. Well worth the money.

**Developer response:** Thanks bud take care and safe trip 👍

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 3.0 — 2026-08-30

Saved Profile Will Be Lost

Tapping and holding the map will bring up a sheet where you can quickly navigate to Google Maps Street View and check your area of interest

Added Speed Camera Sound Alerts. Fires at 1 mile and 0.5 miles when approaching a speed camera

Added Read Gantry Messages. Also adjusted the gantry message to stop picking up messages from the other side of the road

Added a new system for checking the weather at your destination.

Added a new system to back up your saved locations. You need to do this manually by going to Settings, using the gear shaped icon in the top right corner, then Locations > Back Up. Make sure you do this, as it will store all your locations remotely. When you change devices, a single tap on Restore will download them back. Your call.

Added more information about what each feature does, with minimal details.

Added Theft Reports. They will appear as you drive if you happen to pass a location or stop at one. You can also freely explore them on the map, but make sure you zoom in significantly. At the moment, since this feature is new, there are not many reports. Most of them are marked around Doncaster.

Added mileage next to each address search. For example, when you search for an address in the Address Finder, you will see the mileage to that place next to it. This was previously missing, but it is a nice little detail.

Added bump reports

Added Route Itinerary

Changed the Greggs zoom threshold. You should now be able to see the locations in Explore Mode from quite far away instead of having to zoom in too much.

Voice Guidance now fires twice. Once at 1 mi and 0.5 mi

- What Still Needs Attention

I'm aware of the following:

ETA needs to take traffic into consideration. It does this when you calculate a route, but once you set off, it ignores the traffic and uses an "optimistic" approach. This means it ignores traffic and instead uses road speed data to calculate the ETA, which can be hit and miss.

I need more time to include traffic delays in the ETA once you start navigating. The app needs to generate more revenue to afford the traffic data.

### 2.9 — 2026-08-21

Vehicle settings will be wiped out. Make sure to put your height back

Quicker way to enter information into the Address Finder. Simply use the button in the top-left corner to scan the paperwork, and let AI add it automatically
TfL live cameras (London). Check over 900 live traffic cameras across the city to see current road conditions and plan your journey
Adjusted lane guidance for urban driving so it doesn't appear too early, helping to avoid confusion
Route Preview. This feature simulates driving the route, allowing you to sit in bed and watch where your route will take you tomorrow. Lane guidance and bridges have been added, so you’ll become familiar with the route. For every manoeuvre, you’ll know exactly what to do in advance

Fixed an issue in CarPlay where it was displaying scary ETA
Fixed the Upcoming Speed Limit Sign feature to detect all road signs accurately. Previously, it was missing some signs along the route
Fixed loading a Saved Location taking ages
Fixed a bug where your location could become stale, causing route calculations to start from where you finished last time. A route should always start from your current location.
You may also have noticed that sometimes tapping "Calculate" button would do nothing, even when your internet connection was fine. The reason was that the app couldn’t find your current location due to this bug. This should now be fixed (fingers crossed)

Added a Lock Route feature in Planning Mode, preventing automatic recalculation from altering a saved route with waypoints
Added Steep gradient warnings. See ahead the steep eg. 5%, 7%,8% and so on but also descent values. This feature is new so expect errors along the route
Added Second Thought, AI will review your route and provide a second opinion based on available data, such as road closures. It will also inform you of any events that may affect your journey
Added TomTom traffic events along the route, including the magnitude of any delays
Added an arrow for each manoeuvre, so you'll see where you're going
Improved the Speed Limit signs as you drive on CarPlay, much clearer
Made changes to Drive History, it'll be crystal clear on which part of the road you went over the speed limit
DVSA and Wee Police reports will stay on the map for 15 hours instead of 5

Explore on Map is now available for more datasets
- Level crossings & fords
- Road restrictions (unsuitable roads, width, length, weight)
- Gates
- Weak bridges
- Motorway junctions
- Speed cameras

### 2.8 — 2026-07-29

First of all, your saved profiles will not be persisted. Your vehicle settings will be wiped

- Alternative routes will be shown on the map all at once for easier comparison.
- Waypoints have received a faster way to remove them. For example, if you accidentally place one in the wrong location, you previously had to tap it again to remove it, but that could end up adding a new one instead. Now, a button will appear that lets you quickly remove the last waypoint.
- Added a new 3D model instead of the arrow for the Alternative Map.
- Added Wee Police reports.
- Added postcode boundaries when searching. The search must be a full postcode, e.g. PE29 6YA. It won't work when searching by business name.
- Fixed the time for the remaining distance freezing up in slow moving traffic
- DVSA reports now will stay on the map for up to 5 hours instead of 2
- Added Driving History. Check on which road you were speeding. Can this serve as a proof and challenge a fine? Could be.
- Fixed a horrible bug that caused the app to remain stuck in loading state

### 2.7 — 2026-07-15

First of all, your saved profiles will not be persisted. Your vehicle settings will be wiped

- Control Panel Mode: You can quickly calculate a route with different settings, such as a different planner.
- Lane guidance support: Works only with TomTom.
- Adjust Camera: You can now adjust your navigation camera to suit your preference.
- Local Roadworks: Displays roadworks reported by local councils and utility companies. This complements Highways closures.
- Satellite mode has been added back for navigation. However, this is very CPU intensive, so if you notice any performance issues, use Standard mode for navigation, which is the recommended mode for navigation
- Fixed the Scan Manifest in Planning Mode.
- The Alert Sheet, which appears and notifies you of any closures along your route, has been reworked into a more organised format. The road closure detection distance has also been reduced from 100 m to 30 m, so it should no longer pick up closures that are unrelated to your route.
- Live Activities have been added. You can find this in Settings (the gear icon in the top right corner). It displays route information on your screen while your phone is locked.
- You can now assign a specific colour to your saved location
- Saved routes can be locked in. This prevents unwanted route recalculations from triggering automatically and potentially pulling you off your saved route.
- Added 2 more alternatives for each route calculation. So you'll have 3 options to choose, from each Planner.
-Added an offline map that can be toggled in Settings (the gear icon). It works offline, so if you know you're going into an area with poor signal, you can use it. It's not meant to replace the main map, it has limited functionality and is designed only to help you navigate to a single destination.

CarPlay
- Lane guidance support.
- Fixed ETA issues.
- Fixed route recalculation issues.
- You can now adjust the CarPlay camera distance to suit your screen size. Go to Settings on your phone and select CarPlay Camera.

### 2.6 — 2026-07-01

Fixed a major overheating issue with the new auto-camera mode

Comes with improvements to CarPlay, including some major bug fixes
Traffic alerts and DVSA button have now been added to CarPlay
Route calculations should also be around 2 times faster
A new arrow mode under the Navigation section
Import places from TomTom
Pinned locations. You can pin your favs for example your Home or Yard. Pinned locations will appear on CarPlay too, just a single tap and off you go
A new ETA system that takes into consideration road speed limits instead of just your actual speed. This is much better than the old approach but not perfect. Traffic is still not taken into consideration.
