### 2/5 — What do you think?

*2023-03-05*

“…What’s fascinating about this painting is that it marks the first appearance of the figure of God. It’s the only time we see him standing on the ground. Michelangelo portrays him as fatherly and dignified. His expansive form fills the right side of the picture - standing about two meters in height. That’s just one inch taller than Michael Jordan and just a couple inches shorter than Lebron James…”

### 2/5 — The app is often stuck on a given image

*2023-01-22, version 1.1.7*

Tested on iphone 6s+ with latest ios 15.x.
Often the app is stuck on the last image, or it can be a white screen or black screen.
If stuck on a previous image, the scan still works and you get the comments for the next fresco but the image is stuck. If white or black screen then kill the app an restart it.
Tested in french, the speech is clear and the comments are good.

### 2/5 — Does not work well

*2023-01-19*

The QR codes only sometimes work. When you try to speed up the sound of the recording, the audio becomes distorted.

### 3/5 — Worked until it didn't

*2022-08-27*

Worked fine for the first 20 or so paintings at the exhibit, then would not play additional audio after accepting the QR scan. Restarting the app, restarting the phone, and deleting/rebooting/reinstalling the app didn't help.

Once I left the exhibit I could manually select a specific painting and the audio would play. So I guess you can still hear the info after visiting.

### 1/5 — No audio sound

*2022-08-14*

The app was downloaded, the app was playing, Bluetooth was turned off, the app was silent. VERY frustrating!

### 2/5 — Poor commentary

*2022-08-05*

The poor commentary style is very disconcerting. Childish and frivolous. Needed to stick to facts not opinions. App interface is ok but does not have ability to movie to next painting in sequence but have to go back to the start.

### 1/5 — Audio Does Not Work

*2022-07-25*

Unfortunately the audio doesn’t work, making this app useless. Downloaded on three new iPhones and then re-downloaded. The scrub bar moves and the time counter counts down but there simply is no audio playing.

Response:
Thanks for your reply! Unfortunately I did not have mute/silence on and I played audio out of another app to verify. I turned off Bluetooth to ensure I wasn’t playing audio out of headphones.

**Developer response:** Hi

If the phone has mute/ (& silence) button on, the audio won't play from the speaker on iOS devices as it's not allowed in unity engine. You ca retry with the mute button off and it will work.

### 1/5 — No audio

*2022-07-16*

I was unable to get the audio to work

**Developer response:** Hi, Sorry for the inconvenience. The app mainly works as a companion APP for Sistine Exhibition live events. Please let us know the exact issue, we will try to address it on priority.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Does not work

*2026-05-10*

Worthless

### 1/5 — Audio

*2023-06-28*

Are you doesn’t work, no support.

### 1/5 — Garbage

*2023-01-21, version 1.1.7*

Completely unusable since sound did not work in multiple iPhones.

### 1/5 — Doesn’t work.

*2022-12-18*

Scanner doesn’t scan. Audio doesn’t play. Worthless.

### 1/5 — Poor performance, detracted from the event

*2022-09-30, version 1.1.4*

I was one of four that attended the Richmond event on September 28. We all have iPhones, downloaded the app, connected to the suggested local Wi-Fi at the event. Initially, the app worked, scanned the QR code, the appropriate painting was displayed and audio worked. This lasted for the first 8 to 10 paintings.

And then, none of our phones could do you anything. The app either locked, the app played the wrong audio for the painting, or the audio would not play at all. We tried both Wi-Fi that were available from site, this did not help. Rebooted the app, re-download it. Did not help.

The overall issue with the app was very frustrating. It took away from the enjoyment of the paintings, especially as we continued to try to see if the app would work, since it did seem to have additional information that was not provided by the text descriptions.

It would been better off that the app was not available, and we just went through the exhibits, reading the provided descriptions. We were still able to enjoy the exhibit, but frustrated that the app did not work for us, where it did work for others (but very few).
Not knowing the technical aspects of Wi-Fi, but it was clear that it was not strong enough, and did not anticipate or provide for the number of users.

This seems that it could have easily been rectified if there was a serious commitment to supporting the app. The on-site staff attempted to help, but ultimately could provide no assistance.

### 1/5 — Didn’t work

*2022-09-29*

Tried it for the Richmond, VA exhibit. Like many of the others here, didn’t work. Most of the people at the exhibit couldn’t get it to work, or might work intermittently. Staff didn’t seem concerned, starting “it’s a known problem”. Also soggettate might be due to too many people trying to access it. However, did not seem particularly crowded. And since there are no other options, everyone is going to be using it.

### 1/5 — Bad Experience

*2022-09-24, version 1.1.4*

Richmond, VA location. Took forever to download on provided wifi. Once downloaded, did not work - kept replaying previous segments even though my camera captured the correct segment/QR code that I was standing in front of. Overall this exhibit was underwhelming, and this app only worsened the experience.

### 1/5 — Don’t waste your time/money on the exhibit or app

*2022-09-19*

Audio does not work. I went with 5 other people and only one persons audio worked.

The whole purpose of the app is to listen to audio… yet there is no audio.

Also, the narration for the audio is at the 2nd grade level, and done in a clownish voice. So don’t expect to learn much.

Don’t waste your money going to this exhibit. It’s very poorly put together.

### 1/5 — Audio failure

*2022-09-17*

Audio did not work for my family and most of the people at the exhibit seemed to issues as well. We were even warned at the door that the audio was not functioning properly. They should reduce the prices if people can not get the full experience.

### 1/5 — Terrible

*2022-09-02*

Audio suddenly stopped working while touring the Sistine Chapel exhibition in Richmond, VA. We would not have purchased tickets for this exhibition if we knew the App was not going to work as there is a lot more information in the app than are on the exhibition placards. Only worked for 10 minutes. Definitely feel cheated with my exhibition ticket purchase. Frustrating experience.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Worked perfectly in SF

*2025-09-07*

Three of us all on iOS and have different iPhones. App worked perfectly for all of us. When we checked in at exhibit the worker reminded us to have our ringers on (not silent) because that may cause issues. We had zero issues and it was a great exhibit. Thanks!

### 5/5 — Worked great in France

*2023-07-23*

We visited the exhibition in July 2023 in Toulouse. Downloaded this app and it worked great. You can also use it later without the QR codes to review anything again. Also I found things in the app later that we did not see in the exhibit such as the overview, conclusion and restoration sections. Note: make sure the side switch is not set to silent or the audio will not work.

### 5/5 — App worked without hitch

*2023-06-25*

Not sure of reason vs other comments but just used it at Amarillo touring exhibit and everything worked perfect. We had installed the app at home before going. Not sure if that makes a difference. App scanner worked beautifully—being able to stand a few feet away from each painting and have it start up without any issue. Definitely needed when viewing exhibit. So happy we went!

### 5/5 — Added to the experience

*2023-02-10, version 1.1.7*

We did have some trouble with the app trying to scan the QRcodes but you could click on catalog and quickly go to any of the paintings. The additional commentary added to our conversation about the painting and helped me to focus on it longer. This provided a memorable experience. So much to take in🤗

### 5/5 — More than I bargained for

*2023-01-20, version 1.1.7*

This app is awesome. Used in Pittsburgh, PA, USA Today. Found a section that inexplicably forwarded to Playboy’s hot playmates vids which were awesome. The exhibit items was boring, my GF and get stuck-up mother enjoyed it; I however got my own particularly enjoyable section of the app to my eternal delight. Thank you, app developers. Go playboy centerfolds!

### 5/5 — Very informative

*2022-11-27*

Three of us used the app on iPhones today at the exhibition in Pittsburgh. The code scanning worked perfectly and the information was very helpful, much more than posted by each picture. One can also tap the “gallery” selection and choose the picture name to get each audio rather than scanning each bar code separately. The staff also advised downloading the app prior to arriving at the show in case connectivity isn’t as good there as home WiFi.

### 5/5 — No real issues

*2022-10-19*

Some of the QR codes had to be lined up perfectly , but otherwise no issues.

### 5/5 — Worked great!

*2022-09-18, version 1.1.4*

We had no trouble with this app at the Sistine Chapel in Seattle (Bellevue). Worked great at every fresco. The narration had a bit of humor to it at times which was refreshing. It did seem to pick up the QR code if you further back than up close. Definitely at must do!

### 5/5 — Works great.

*2022-07-30*

I don’t know why other people were complaining about the audio not working, it worked perfectly fine for me. I’m gonna guess they either had technical problems on their end or didn’t know you had to scan the QR codes to play it. Either way it worked fine for me.

### 4/5 — No problems here

*2023-01-09*

I’ve not had any problems with the app. Either at the exhibit or while going through the catalog. I just wish that the paintings could be enlarged on the app so that I could enjoy them better.
