(Think: 50,000 files comprising 300 GB. I have a 1 TB iPhone and ought to be able to use that storage for my own stuff if I so choose.) This has been an ongoing problem for years. Microsoft has plenty of telemetry to know about the problem and fix it, so obviously it’s not getting prioritized. Also, with the latest version, there doesn’t appear to be a way to hide the “Edit with AI” prompt when opening photos. It covers part of the image. ### 2/5 — Useless *2026-08-17, version 18.7.3* The app doesn’t even show you all your documents and files. It takes ages for a new folder you made online to appear in the app. Like, weeks long. All the Microsoft advice says is “Clear your cache, make sure the app is updated, delete and redownload the app.” Except I’d be deleting and redownloading this app daily. I have a folder from April not showing on OneDrive in August. How much more time do you need to give it to load? Whenever I open a file and close the application, it prompts me to enter my password, requiring me to return to the main personal vault. This behavior is inconsistent with the intended functionality, as the application should automatically resume from where I left off and allow me to enter the password without interruption. This inconvenience has significantly impacted my productivity. ### 1/5 — Poor, buggy, update *2026-08-09, version 18.7.3* This used to be a half-decent app. However, since the last update, the photo memories aren’t working properly. This preview of the slideshow shows photos that exist for that date in the past, but when you play the slideshow it doesn’t show them. When you go into the memory to see that photos and videos, it doesn’t show some that do exist for that date. When you’ve viewed a memory, then go back to it a day or two later, the memory removes some of the photos and videos that exist for that date from the memory. I have reinstalled the app multiple times and go through the setup process by verifying my Microsoft account by signing in and creating a 6-digit pin. After I close the app and try opening my Personal Vault again, it keeps asking me to set it up and create a pin which I have already done numerous times. I can still access my Personal Vault on the web, but that defeats the purpose of having the functionality in the app which appears to be broken. I will be contacting support to see about getting this issue resolved and update my review later if everything checks out. ### 1/5 — Bad backend *2026-08-07, version 18.7.3* It can’t save my files and gives a lot of errors ### 3/5 — Overall a decent app, but with one glaring fault. *2026-08-07, version 18.7.3* It’s great for storing pictures and labeling pictures and finding pictures by all kinds of criteria. (It’s annoying that you can’t turn off the red dot that shows up every day for “on this day” photos, but that is a small nit to pick. The glaring fault is with the Files half of it. I love that all of my files are available, but they are literally unreachable. Suppose I know there’s a particular file with a particular name, but I can’t remember what folder I put it in. Search consistently brings up nothing. That’s the feature I need the most. I trust all my previous photos, videos and files with one drive. But gosh every time I go look for a photo in the past or video on the one drive app, it’s torture. The app In 2026 should work so much faster than this, it’s like my phone is bugged and no it’s not my own phone as I have a modern and new iPhone. You guys need to somehow make a new app separately for photos and videos so people can enjoy scrolling through the past and it not glitching, not showing photos, making the phone go so slow and buggy, it needs improvement and I trust Microsoft can do better. The only thing that will ever get it to sync and update with files that were added to folders from other devices is to delete and reinstall the app. Also, waiting a couple days doesn’t help either, it will not sync for weeks on-end if you don’t delete and reinstall. I’ve tried background app refresh on and off, all sorts of settings within apple devices, never works.
