### 4/5 — Panorama mode is great!

*2023-07-07*

Panorama mode could also be improved by allowing it to lock into a '2D' mode, such as when the user is capturing something like a large whiteboard (or wall of an art gallery)... this might both improve output quality and performance at the same time (as the calculations would be simpler).
- -
Possible regression:

In early-mid 2023 the panorama mode appears to have changed... it used to continue capturing photos until the user pressed the 'stop' button, but now it stops when it 'thinks that you are done'? This results in incomplete captures, especially when capturing large wall installations (or, e.g., whiteboards in hallways, where multiple photos are needed to get the entire board in focus and in sufficient detail).

Maybe it is just stopping automatically when the device is low on memory?

### 3/5 — Multiple camera don’t work

*2022-09-26, version 2.6*

On my iPhone 11 Pro Max, it freezes

### 3/5 — User guide?

*2022-07-25, version 2.6*

This app would be a lot more useful if, in addition to bragging about what it *can* do, it told us *how* to do those things. As it is, it’s just an alternative camera app with the same capabilities as Apple’s camera app.

### 2/5 — They killed the reason I got the app.

*2022-05-28, version 2.5.3*

The only reason I got the app was because you could turn off the camera click sound. Now you can't, so I'm looking for a new app.

### 4/5 — A great alternative to Apple’s base camera app.

*2022-02-15, version 2.5.1*

If there are just some apps that you like a more “Microsoft feel” to, go for it. It has a few extra features. I do not know how well it does for the nighttime feature, as to Apples night mode is epic, but this is a solid alternative. It also scans documents.

### 3/5 — Spelling mistake

*2021-12-22, version 2.5.1*

You misspelled business in your own description.

### 3/5 — Filtered artwork

*2021-08-06, version 2.4.1*

I miss the filters like “Honolulu” that would transform my regular photos into works of art. Is that feature available anywhere else? Is there anyway to bring that feature back in a future update? If so, then please do. Many thanks.

### 4/5 — Better Quality Images

*2021-07-18, version 2.4*

Here is another free app that I like. When I compare the pictures it takes to the ones taken with the native camera app that comes with iOS, the ones taken with this app seem better exposed and color balance. The disadvantage is, it requires a lot of processing so on my old iPhone 5s, it took a while but on my SE and iPhone 7, it took significantly less time. Document mode is useful but the automatic cropping needs improvement. It frequently does not select the correct borders and when adjusting the borders, it too easily changes a rectangle into a shape with opposite sides that are not parallel.

**Developer response:** Good News Newtown... We have released a new update today (June 21st) with improved performance, smaller app size, and a new feature called 'Styles' that allows you to apply artistic filters to you your photos turning them into painterly works of art!

### 2/5 — Not working in 14.6

*2021-07-14, version 2.4*

Edit photos is not working in iOS 14.6. No response from edit icons like crop, brightness, etc.

### 2/5 — The app had big shoes to fill…

*2021-07-04, version 2.3.1*

Photosynth was the best panorama app I have ever used. When it was retired and the panorama feature was moved to pix, I was a little disappointed. Pix simply did not do as good a job. Pictures were blurrier and the interface wasn’t quite as good. Unfortunately, the panorama feature is either extremely well hidden or gone, so I’ll have to find another solution.

### 2/5 — Removed features

*2021-05-15, version 2.2.1*

No more pano or video stabilization. Bad move in my opinion. Are you trying to be like Google and remove feature from their apps that people used?

### 3/5 — Good App!

*2021-05-07, version 2.2.1*

Overall a good, simple, clean camera interface. It’s free and from Microsoft. The only issue I have is OIS. The stabilization on pictures and videos isn’t very good. The quality is good but shaky hands beware!

### 3/5 — Scan doc to text

*2021-05-03, version 2.2*

Now I cant Scan to text

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Photo privacy??

*2023-09-29*

App wants access to photos/videos, but doesn’t tell you the most important thing: do the photos EVER leave my phone?

It’s one thing for the app to access the pix to -process- them, but an entirely different thing to send them off the phone. WHY IS IT SO HARD TO BE CLEAR ON THIS??

### 1/5 — What happened?

*2023-02-04, version 2.6.2*

What happened? Pix used to be able to make creative character changes. I had started an album of my own pictures that I used pix to make mosaic for children’s books. Now all of that is gone and I can’t finish my project. The changes to remove those artistic changes is a real loss. The new filters are bland and not creative. Now instead of using pix for my projects for years I will have to go somewhere else. Disappointed in your support if customers.

### 1/5 — Worst camera app I’ve ever used

*2023-01-14, version 2.6.1*

The only thing this is good at is blurring things. Portrait mode? Lay on the blurriness over everything. Horrible filter to “beautify” faces? Pour that blur on. Produces absolute garbage photos.

### 1/5 — Pass

*2021-12-15, version 2.5.1*

The “pano” feature struggles with arm movements any faster than a glacier sliding downhill while having a seizure trying to balance exposure. MS nailed it with Photosynth. Pix is a digital train wreck.

### 1/5 — Pale imitation of photosynth

*2021-07-10, version 2.4*

Subject says it all. Photosynth it ain’t. Why???

### 1/5 — No panorama - BYPASS

*2021-07-09, version 2.3.1*

Got this app as it was reported to have replaced photosynth. Once installed, found that this feature was removed! Not worth the free price or the headaches to install/uninstall.

SKIP THIS APP

### 1/5 — Scan Business Cards Gone

*2021-06-16, version 2.3.1*

I stumbled upon this app to convert business cards to Outlook contacts. It was great, but it appears to be gone.

### 1/5 — Way made it worse

*2021-05-30, version 2.3*

I loved this app until you updated and removed the panosynth feature, now it’s worthless, please bring pano feature back

### 1/5 — No Stitching feature anymore

*2021-04-24, version 2.2*

You took away the single feature that made this app great! Now, it is no better than the phones camera app. This app is no longer useful at all to me without the stitching feature.
Sorry, but goodbye forever!

### 1/5 — Removed features that distinguished it

*2021-04-21, version 2.2*

The built in iOS camera app is better than this. The “styles” were a really neat way to make photos look like art, but those were removed. I find it ironic that Microsoft being notorious for bloated applications ended up removing the few features that set this app apart.

### 5/5 — Best photo application

*2023-12-25*

Hi
Truly, without any compliments, your application is the best when it comes to taking photos. In my opinion and through my experience in the field of photography, and to increase the efficiency of the application, it is preferable to make it possible to change the lens aperture when taking regular photos and video, without limiting it to portrait only.
My best regards

### 5/5 — My favorite!

*2023-03-12*

It’s simple and everything you need is right in front of you without having to deal with 400 menus and ads. This is, imo, enter than the Apple cam app and you can zoom in on front facing cam! Love it

### 5/5 — Wow, did not expect this.

*2023-01-31, version 2.6.2*

How did Microsoft end up creating a camera app better than apple, camera+, manual camera, pro camera, and a dozen others? It takes amazingly nice, NON SHARPENED (apple) photos, and an incredibly useful portrait mode like my s22 ultra where you can edit the focus point AFTER you take the photo. Blown away so far. No 48mp mode but still… really nice light touch in eliminating the overprocessed photo that kills Apples own camera app.

### 5/5 — My favorite!

*2022-10-27, version 2.6.1*

I prefer this to record selfie vids. you can zoom in on front facing cam! Love it

### 5/5 — Great quality pics!!

*2022-08-10, version 2.6*

Great quality pics! Love the Portrait mode!

### 5/5 — Very convenient camera app

*2022-07-03, version 2.5.3*

This is a very nice & easy to use camera apps. The best parts is no shutter sound. Envy the MS efforts. Thanks to the team.

### 5/5 — I just don’t understand

*2022-05-27, version 2.5.3*

Don’t get me wrong, I love this app, 5 stars! But the developers first removed all great features (pano, Live Photos) and now adding them back one by one. Why? Just don’t understand if you guys gonna adding these features back, which is awesome, then why removed them before? I almost going to give up this app and looking for other solutions. But thanks god, finally, everything is back now!

### 5/5 — My favorite part of the app is back!

*2021-10-02, version 2.4.2*

You so much for bringing back the Photosynth/panorama mode! It’s my favorite part of the Pix app. I love being able to take extremely wide-angle shots with this! While I miss the features of the old Photosynth app and service, I’m really glad to have the ability to take those kinds of pictures again with MS Pix.

### 5/5 — Updated review-No Pano

*2021-07-11, version 2.4*

Latest version returns the PhotoSynth (3 months after they removed it). I have not had the chance to test it out but it appears to be the same as the old interface that they had.

Thank you!

——-
Panosynth stopped working and I was happy that Pix had it. I noticed that an update happened abd took it. Now I do not have a good Pano software solution. Why remove one of the best features. Everything else that this bee version offered I already have on other Apps. Love to give you more stars on this but your shouldn’t have removed one of your best features. Also shame on me for updating to a new version when the older version was fine.

### 5/5 — Get this. Install it. Bet you don't delete it.

*2020-12-19, version 2.0.1*

This is so good I just asked two friends for their phones and to put their finger on the button when necessary. Then I asked them to snap some pictures and see what they think. They loved it! And so do I. This app creates better pictures out of what you snap. Faces come out perfect. Acne and red-eye are gone. It can be subtle: this does not add gimmicks to your photos. It improves the lighting, the faces, the shadows and the composition by blending together the best of several milliseconds of exposure. Faces, food, pets and open scenery benefit the most. Another feature I love is the adjustable exposure. This lets you photograph the stars, and create special effects in a variety of situations. On my phone I set it to be the default camera. So ... install it - and I bet you keep on using.
It's been six months, and the only photos I take with the built-in app are panoramas. For faces, social activities, landscapes and action shots (reduces blur) this app is tops.
