## What is MIDI Camera?

MIDI has been used to control synthesizers and sequencers for years.  It's easy to use, and there are hundreds of inexpensive controllers.  With MIDI Camera, Secret Base Design brings MIDI to iOS photography.  Use a MIDI controller, foot pedal, or an app, to take photographs or record video.

MIDI signals can be sent wirelessly, using either WiFi or Bluetooth, or using adapters with a camera connection kit.  The precise timing available with MIDI makes it easy to synchronize multiple cameras, or to take carefully spaced photos for time lapse photography.  Triggering camera photos and videos electronically can make stop-motion animation easier!

### 5/5 — Perfect single-purpose app!

I absolutely love this little app! I’ve got it set up over WiFi MIDI so that a single press of the Record transport button on my keyboard kicks off video recording on my iPhone and audio recording on a different device. Pressing the Stop transport button stops recording on both. I had to write a little Mozaic script to map this to a note press for consumption by MIDI Camera (use note 109 which is beyond the range of an 88-key keyboard). It would be even nicer if it supported MMC transport messages, and differentiated between Record and Stop, but a simple Mozaic script fills that gap nicely.
