Le problème c’est qu’elle reconnais la table de mix une fois sur 4, il faut rebooter le programme ou la table de mix. Le midi ne fonctionne plus, les instruments midi sont faux, un demi ton d’écart. J’ai dû réinstaller l’app pour stabiliser le midi, j’ai perdu 2 jours et tous les sons que j’avais créé. Je suis parvenu à stabiliser le midi mais au bout de la 3ême connexion le problème de justesse est revenu. La partie guitare fonctionne (pour THU, AmpliTube etc) mais le midi non (vous auriez dû l’appeler Guitar cette app et non Midi Guitar… fff Le midi est faux, c’est inutilisable. Ce serait bien de corriger ces bugs. Ce n’est pas professionnel une app qui te lâche 10 mn avant un concert. En plus j’ai payé et j’ai vraiment l’impression de m’être fait arnaquer. Il est également impossible de contacter le support. Je suis très en colère. Vraiment. ### 4/5 — Damn!!! *2026-02-12, version 2.7.7* Only played for an hour but I’m very impressed! This far exceeds what I thought would be possible with a hardware MIDI pickup, I’ve never used one but been eyeing up for a while. I disabled all of the audio functions and just fed MIDI straight into AUM (good move not disabling that completely in the demo!) Obviously there’s a learning curve to adjust your playing style and find synths that work well with this kind of MIDI, but I can see a lot of potential. I’m a software dev and understand high-level what’s going on under the hood, so not the kind of user who’s gonna expect to plug in and achieve 0ms latency and every note translated perfectly into my favourite iOS synth. *** Note - 1 star added to offset any reviewers who might’ve thought that *** :) Looking forward to v3, would love to get on the beta :) ### 4/5 — 5 stars if I could understand the IAP differences for MacOSvsiOS *2024-05-16, version 2.7.7* Seems like I spent $20 on the virtual midi out component, but it doesn’t apply to the MacOS version, which I would be using just as much if it didn’t require another IAP … but maybe I’m just confused. I do know that the 3rd version of this app in Beta on MacOS looks and sounds awesome. ### 4/5 — I can't believe how well it works! *2024-01-18, version 2.7.7* I've purchased several expensive hardware devices that aren't As good as this! Truly amazing. They could have stopped there but no, you can host your own VST’s inside it too! You will have to watch your playing a little, I play a fair bit lighter than I usually would. Chords will work if kept to about 3-4 notes. The midi tools and devices you can make/ script are just great. The only thing that lets this down to me is the tuning options. Given it’s MIDI this should be an open slather for those of us that tune lower especially or have baritone guitars etc. ### 3/5 — nioce but WHERE ? *2023-09-09, version 2.7.7* ive reser my iphone many times Wheres the auv3/au version thats supposed to show in AUM? ### 4/5 — Utilisation en live *2022-11-02* Super application pour ajouter des sons sur la guitare en live. Encore pas mal de ghost notes et manque de précision sur des sons type piano, harp… Mais c’est excellent pour les nappes violon, voix. Par contre le range midi est limité au C6 donc impossible de jouer des notes aiguës à l’harmonica. Merci au développeurs, si vous pouvez agrandir le range, ça serait génial! Jluc ### 5/5 — this app is a dream machine *2022-10-21* if you know what you’re doing… you can slowly strum a C chord on guitar and have a cascading chorus of vocals and stings playing along with each note. This paired with a midi note probably filter, or other midi fx and the possibilities are endless and the drag on cpu is not so bad. This app blows minds. This, idensity, and a drum machine/sequencer in your AuV3 host of choice (apematrix or aum), and some basic fx and you can make truly other worldly sounds. And beautiful sounds, etc. And yes, there is a built in noise gate, built in pitchbend functionalality, the ability to switch between mono and polyphonic midi output… like i said: dream machine **Developer response:** Thanks for the feedback! Interapp audio is on the todo list for next update, but please notice that the current approach with virtual midi can be used to drive any audiobus/AU setup just fine. ### 5/5 — Works better than my Roland Gr-33 *2022-09-02* I am amazed how well this works. I have a Roland Gr-33 rig and this tracks notes better with far less random ghost notes. Plus this is easier to set up. It may have slightly more latency but barely noticeable and it was easy to adjust my playing to compensate for. Worked perfect with my synths in Cubasis with out any hassle. I doubt I will be using the on boards sounds much they are decent and easy to get different sounds out of. I’m a crummy keyboard player and this is perfect for recording midi parts. My Roland is getting likely getting sold now that I have this. ### 4/5 — Antonio *2022-07-02, version 2.7.7* Tracking is pretty good on my electric violin.. ### 5/5 — 5 star for MIDI notes from guitar - but it’s all… *2022-06-04, version 2.7.7* …about the STANDALONE, that’s how I got MIDI to get into my GarageBand song anyway. Neither the AUv3, nor the IAA component of this app were involved, which is what flummoxed me for a couple of years. The confusion arises because essentially you follow the video online (by Scott Uhl or someone?!), I had to take screenshots to break down for study what was done here, and in short: you start the standalone M2G app as if playing without GarageBand, you carefully make the M2G settings for MIDI be ‘virtual midi’ and THEN just start up GarageBand and double-tap on say, a synth instrument track of any type (in-built or Audio Unit), and GB picks up the M2G signal as if it were a MIDI controller keyboard. That’s it. If only someone had told me this 4 years ago. Nobody anywhere explicitly stated that in iOS, for GarageBand, you forget M2G’s AU version (effect) AND forget M2G’s IAA version, if you want MIDI to be emitted from your guitar input/interface, into GB iOS/iPadOS. IAA only ever produces an audio waveform. An Audio Unit EFFECT only modifies whatever form of input the particular track has, so is also irrelevant to extracting MIDI from my Squier Strat. Granted, you may well want an audio waveform from the guitar too, but I specifically judge this app on whether it enables MIDI from my six-string. It does, by one method only, so it’s now five stars. Note, my device is an iPad Pro M1, so it has Thunderbolt 3 (up to 40Gb/s) and also I have it attached to a TB3 Belkin dock. Although my original Apogee Jam has a USB cable, it’s not USB3 I think, but the point is TB3 is 20 to 40Gb/s, and my tests show Lightning i/o on my older iPad Pro 2 was only about 120Mb/s…and entire league different, hence older complaints in reviews about latency. This may or may not be an issue - and I restrict my 5 stars therefore to deploying this app, using standalone for MIDI into GB, in my system. I have not explored the other two, IAA and AUv3, to any further extent! PREVIOUS REVIEW WORDING: still holds, but now I understand why nobody else may have used the Audio Unit: So I used this, and unfortunately it was late at night, so the massive busker amp I use had to be turned down low…it just means the direct sound from the guitar is prominent, but Midi2Guitar works. Latency or lag is present, but not bad, on my iPad Pro M1 12.9”. Bringing me to a fair criticism: Audio Unit version of this flagship app is out over a year, and yet the image presented to work with in GarageBand is like stacking two dvd cases, one on top of the other, and looking at the edges, with writing and buttons on them! Absolutely miniscule…and now I researched more of the jamorigin vids it’s clear how crucial the even more minuscule arrowhead icons are. This is a bit shoddy, is my honest view. I can barely read the writing, the AUv3 image has no double arrow with which to scale up the image to large, those arrowheads in the small button boxes are the size of about a quarter of the end of a pencil, and practically invisible (I only know what they are because I used the actual app outside of GB iOS/iPadOS), and of the 4 dials/rotary knobs the fascia has, three do not work. I tried rotating them all, only the ‘noise gate’ one takes note of the new position you set it to. The others, while they ‘expand’ like the noise gate one does, their new position you set is ignored as soon as you let go, and it collapses back to minuscule again. There are plenty of Audio Units in iOS that don’t quite reach the mark - MIDI notes for example, rarely extend control/automation to more than pitch bends and mod wheel settings in synth Audio Units. But, this is a fine product, that essentially works as promised, and yet with over 12 months since the Audio Unit first hit the appstore, still basic issues, using it on a two-grand iPad mark you, top-of-the-range, things like the size of the fascia not being scaled properly to fit a 12.9” screen, and essential volume/gain/mix controls being useless, plague it. I will have to use it as I experimented with it, as external, then firing up GB, and so on. Seems a bit primitive, but if that’s how it works, I will rub along with it. I think I increasingly dislike feeling like the first person to try apps out on a 12.9” ipad, I don’t want to be a test pilot - still, nobody died, Not the end of the world and all that. Please tidy the audio unit up - in fact thinking about those rotary controls that snap to zero all the time, doesn’t that mean no sound or midi will transmit through to get recorded? I notice on big daddy GarageBand on Mac, the jamorigin video shows that sound and MIDI are recorded simultaneously, this is what I kind of expected in the iOS/iPadOS system, using Audio Unit version of this amazing app. Anyway, I will explore as-is, and I think I might have to plug in around the back of the Belkin ThunderBolt 3 hub/dock I have, although I had the interface I use working fine with low latency for the keyboard/midi controller. I had to move to TB3, because using USB-C hubs, was much much slower, noticeable lag on external keyboards. Which brings me to another relevant aspect, that I do not have an interface of the type normally possessed. A scarlett or somesuch. I hope this won’t turn out to be an issue, it was clear once I got the single-TB3 connector iPad Pro M1, that the priority was a superfast TB3 dock and cable, and as I already had a dedicated MIDI interface (never used it, got no ‘real’ synths!), and a dedicated guitar interface, I never needed any function the usual interfaces provided. I only mention this, as it may deeply affect what options come up on the fascia, in some circumstances. When messing earlier, the microphone on ipad insisted on remaining active, and there seemed no way in Midi2Guitar, to turn it off? Making me go to ‘settings’ and exclude the mic from the app, seems a long way around? Carry on, it’s still good, I can work with the non-AU version for now. ### 2/5 — Coole Idee aber zu Teuer! *2022-03-16* Ja beide Funktionen muss man schon haben wenn man wirklich etwas damit machen will. Aber wie andere schon hier erwähnt haben, ist das gesamt Paket zu teuer. Und die Demo zu kurz zum Testen ob es hält was es verspricht. Deswegen nur 2 Sterne, man kann ja ohne Kauf nichts damit Anfangen. ### 3/5 — Tracking could be slightly better *2021-12-13* The tracking is ok within the app itself for the few instruments you see (free and paid version are the same instruments) but when you use the external paid midi feature for Garageband instruments you may find that the tracking suffers slightly (more than the likes of a GR55). If you’re playing instrumentation with sustained chords/notes (violin, keyboard, synth etc )then it’s fine all around but if you’re trying to play eighth notes(midi bass guitar , midi arpeggios on a grand piano etc) you’ll get occasional dropped notes and incorrect notes depending on the tempo and other factors. It’s usable mostly for recording at home but it just depends if this is needed for a ‘live’ performance. ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — Seriously? FIVE YEARS?! *2026-05-10, version 2.7.7* ZERO updates in FIVE years, the most basic function (it’s in the name: MIDI !) is a non-cheap add-on. Only deserves a star for connecting your guitar like a number of other apps out there. ### 1/5 — Disappointed *2025-09-22, version 2.7.7* Well… After waiting a very long time for the new beta version to be released, it was pulled (again). So I reverted back to MG 2. The one function I truly need, "hold synth, switch to guitar" doesn't seem to work with the iPad/GarageBand. I had to pay $30 to find this out. ### 1/5 — Features are locked behind mandatory purchases *2025-06-06* I downloaded this app wanting to use this with Logic Pro because it was advertised that this app had AUv3 support, only to find out that the feature was locked behind not only one in-app purchase, but in order to purchase that upgrade, you needed to purchase another upgrade that’s more expensive. I don’t mind having some extra features that are unlocked with an in-app purchase for a free app to support developers, but not when they require a purchase in order to make another one ### 1/5 — not working in cubasis3 *2023-12-19* its not working as au in cubasis3 its indeed working with one instance (zero gain) is running in the background. weird. there’s midi generated inside midiguitar au, as you can see when you put in a keyboard, but it can’t get midi out, without running a standalone instance in background. lot apps can put midi out, thats why iam wondering. same with A2M, which is the only alternative i know so far. ### 1/5 — Far too expensive *2023-12-13* 22.99€ for midi out 9.99€ for auv3 Are you f-ing kidding???? ### 1/5 — 256ms is BS - Dev would rather sell you the wrong product… *2023-07-19, version 2.7.7* … just to make a few extra bucks - Yes, thats statement that probably sounds unfair & hyperbolic but let me explain. The dev knows there’s plenty of us who just want to trigger 3rd party virtual instruments via the guitar, aka, sans a lot of what’s in the full version… I’d gladly pay $50-80AUD for this iOS/GB versions except one integral setting has clearly intentionally been omitted, The latency I/O option. I’ve heard it’s to offer the best user experience across iOS generations which ok, maybe that was the case but it’s 2023 & all iPhones currently in support can run this easily - You got an iPhone 14 pro with a A16 bionic? Too bad, you’re limited to 256ms. I am an American musician and longtime fan of your work. As you may know payment options were blocked in the Russian AppStore and payments from Russian banks are not accepted anymore. I have been playing guitar for over 30 years. My journey with synth gear began in 1995 with Roland GR-1, GR-9, and VG-99. I’ve been using Ableton Live with MIDI capabilities of VG-99 with VST instruments and synths for a number of years now. Since then, I’ve performed and recorded using Boss RC-300, Digitech JamMan loopers, Ableton Live (controlled via Touch OSC), Roland FC-300, Numark Orbit, Korg and M-Vave controllers, all running through a MOTU audio interface. I say this not to boast, but to emphasize that I know the MIDI capabilities intimately—and MIDI Guitar 2 for IOS, Windows and MAC OS and MIDI Guitar 3 for Windows and MAC OS are, without exaggeration, the most brilliant and forward-thinking tools I have ever encountered. I tried them in both IOS, Windows and MAC OS environments. This is the solution many of us have been waiting for. I desperately want to use MIDI Guitar 2 and 3 in my concerts. However, due to international sanctions on Russia, payments through the AppStore are impossible. Visa, MasterCard, American Express, PayPal and other payment services are no longer available in Russia. I simply cannot purchase your product, no matter how much I wish to. I understand the immense effort, skill, and love that went into creating MIDI GUITAR 2 and 3. I know what it takes to build sophisticated systems. I recognize that your team deserves to be paid for your work, and it pains me to ask for an exception. If you would be kind enough to allow me to use MIDI Guitar 2 for IOS and MIDI Guitar 3 for Windows without payment under these extraordinary circumstances, I would like to give back in the only way I can: by creating high-quality video content that is currently not available online. I will produce detailed performance videos and tutorials showing exactly how to integrate MIDI GUITAR 2 and MIDI GUITAR 3 with the hardware ecosystem I mentioned above with Goudin, Jackson, Ibanez and Roland guitars. Because of the delay, you can only really use gentle attack sounds (pad etc) for live playing. I’ve tried various pickup devices for my trumpet and this always seemed to be the weak link. I just got the P9 PiezoBarrel pickup and now this app really shines, but a good USB audio interface helps. Tracking is amazing. Tweaking the attack envelope settings in the synth app help to reduce the percussive effect of many sounds made for keyboards. The effects plug-ins add to the straight trumpet sound, and I can blend the regular trumpet sound with a layered synth.
