## What is MIDI Macros?

MIDI Macros enables you to create a collection of buttons (macros), which send out custom MIDI data when tapped.

You can make macros to do whatever you want using MIDI:
- toggle between synthesizer's presets
- control your FX units' parameters
- control your DAW and it's plugins
- add extra buttons to your digital mixer
- do all of the above simultaneously

Look up the MIDI messages required for your setup in the device's manuals. Please feel free to contact me if you have questions or need any help, via contact@oscarbouwmans.nl.

Every macro can send multiple MIDI messages, to any of the connected MIDI devices. So, for example, one macro can toggle 3 different actions, on 3 different devices. Or 1 action, on 9 devices. Etc.

MIDI Devices can be connected to your iOS device via USB*, Bluetooth, or WiFi.
*requires the Apple Camera Connection Kit or other compatible adapters

Macro sets can be stored in presets. Presets can either be stored locally on the iOS device, or in iCloud, allowing you to synchronise presets between your devices. A future update will allow presets to be sent to other devices using AirDrop. This way you can send presets from your iPad to your iPhone for example, or to a friend who has a similar setup.

## Key features

- Create custom MIDI macro buttons
- Control synthesizers and FX units
- Integrate with DAWs and plugins
- Add buttons to digital mixers
- Send multiple MIDI messages per macro
- Store and sync presets via iCloud

### 5/5 — Still the best thing out there

*2025-09-15*

Not sure if this is app is “abandon-ware” at this point. But it’s amazingly powerful. There are other program apps out there - some are overkill, and others that don’t do extended MIDi CC. If you need to send bank changes (not just 0-127 program changes) this is the app you need.. Old as it is, it works flawlessly. With Blue tooth Midi no less. Was also a great way to repurpose old tech- able to run this on an “ancient” 2019 iPad mini with IOS 12. . Though it does support newer iPads and OS too. I’d gladly pay a bit more if the Dev ever decides to update- but in the meantime, it’s pretty darn good. I’m controlling a hybrid hardware/virtual live rig and able to send group and individual patches to all my boards. There is a lack of documentation- something I’m working on doing on my channel.

### 5/5 — Perfect for what I need

*2025-08-19*

I’ve been using this app for 2-3 years and it’s exactly what I need. I use it to change settings for 2 keyboards in live playing situations. I set up midi commands for each sound I need, run it through an iRig midi interface and by just touching the iPad can change the sounds to the selected setting. Its a very basic app, but I was able to learn it quickly and it does all I need. I’ve had no issues with it.

### 5/5 — Great considering the price

*2024-10-06*

Worked for what I needed. Sending PC messages for wireless control of Camelot Pro on my iPad. I was able to load via the iCloud onto another phone. I have a holder for my iPhone that straps to my right leg for use while sitting.

### 4/5 — Superb but needs a little more

*2024-02-24*

This app works great and is simple to figure out. You can control any midi device connected to your iPad. Just a few things to add:
1. More flexible layout
2. Add sliders for cc control etc.
3. Audiobus support.

### 2/5 — Doesn’t work

*2023-09-13*

8th gen iPad, crashes often. Development seems to be abandoned.

### 1/5 — Will not save any changes

*2023-02-08*

I had this app several years ago. I decided to use it again and can't get it to save anything except the name of a preset in the cloud. All other changes are lost. I have no idea how this app is supposed to save my work and reload.

### 3/5 — User unfriendly

*2022-05-24*

I just got the app, and am trying to do AMYTHING. I don’t see how to use it as an output device. Giving it three stars, because a ton of people give one star if they don’t understand something, and I don’t want to be one of them.

### 1/5 — Presets speichern?

*2022-02-21*

Leider gelingt es mir nicht (obwohl ich durchaus kompetent bin), irgendwie ein von mir erstelltes Preset zu speichern .. naja, die App ist ja auch 5 Jahre alt, vielleicht ist da etwas ausgehakt?

### 4/5 — Review

*2019-12-11*

This app works a treat! Would love to be able to send presets for a session via airdrop or share it in a similar fashion without having to re-program each note on a second device.

### 1/5 — Scam stay away

*2019-05-29*

Doesn’t work, sent an email asking for help, no response.
