### 3/5 — Let down by poor support

*2026-02-27*

The software appears to be comprehensive, with few other apps working on iOS 15 filling this need. Although the standalone app is a disingenuous description, its not complete and requires further payment for other key aspects.
Unfortunately trying to get support on how to use it is impossible. There’s no acknowledgment of requests for help by email. Signing up to the forum does not allow requests to be made and there are a significant number of very good questions completely ignored on the forum.
Get it if you know what you’re doing otherwise look elsewhere.

### 2/5 — Frequent crashes

*2025-11-15*

Good features, but the app crashed several times while editing the CC map, and some of the mapped CCs are dropped during performance, making it overall unreliable for live usage.

### 4/5 — Note On 0 zu Note Off fehlt noch

*2025-01-31*

### 2/5 — Great app, but no support

*2025-01-22*

I would have given this app five stars, but downrated it because there appears to be no support: impossible to register for the support forum, and the most recent posting there is 2021. I wanted to post a solution to a long-unanswered forum request.

### 3/5 — What's up with the forum?

*2024-07-09, version 2.2.20*

Great to see this app is being maintained but the forum appears to be dead - I've registered succesfully and can log in, but cannot post. The most recent post there is around 2 1/2 years old at the time I type this! I love this software but it's a bit disconcerting to think there is no support at all. I only wanted to post one minor feature request.

Between this, StreamByter and AUM, I can make an iPad/iPhone music rig that rivals what I've been doing for years on my Mac with Plogue Bidule. I'm afraid to update iOS because I might lose Midiflow!

[Addendum - 7/9/2024] - OK, since there's no way to reach the dev I can see, this wlll have to do. A user on a keyboard forum I frequent just downloaded this and immediately found a bug which I could reproduce: in the "Velocity remapping" page, select the fourth curve, then tap "Reset curve" - the box goes blank. There is no way to recover that screen I found. Next, bug or feature? Looks like Midiflow does not pass release velocity. All note-offs have a vel value = 0 coming out a Midiflow channel regardless of the actual value going in.

I still like and use this app, but seeing a locked support forum with the newest post being three years old does not inspire confidence!

### 2/5 — Note off velocities are ignored

*2024-05-27*

The bugs I mentioned in an earlier review were resolved with an iOS update - I forget which one, it’s been a while. Midiflow has been stable for a while now, and I’ve been using it without incident. As I said then, the feature set and power this app has is great. I couldn’t do what I do without it.
One perplexing omission I just discovered is its seeming inability to handle note-off velocities! As far as I can tell, they’re all turned into note-ons with vel=0. I’m OK with this although it sent me on a wild goose chase of troubleshooting that wasted a lot of time. If anyone uses note-off velocities as a modulation source for anything, you may want to look elsewhere - unless Johannes addresses this with an update. He is still unreachable, as far as I can tell. The forum is dead - and the “feedback” button on the top left of the UI (described in the documentation) is gone! It almost seems he doesn’t want to be bothered!

Speaking only for myself - the app is working fine (for now) and I’m gonna stick with it as long as it works on my iPad and iPhone. I can’t help feeling a little nervous about the lack of support.

### 1/5 — Where is the return button!!!

*2023-10-15*

I bought this app with high hopes and it can do the simplest thing which is to go back to the previous page….??!!! Do not waste your money I want a f..ing refund!!!

### 1/5 — Layout issues on my iPhone, can’t do what I want either

*2023-07-29*

I found a number of bugs, posted them on the support forum and got no response. Main one is layout issues in iOS 16.5.1 on iPhone 11, no ‘Done’ button/link visible so you get stuck whenever you go into a menu. On an older iPhone these navigation links appear.

This app is probably good for some things, but the functionality I need (filter out Note Off messages) is not there. I was able to create this with MidiPipe on MacOS in about 2 minutes.

### 2/5 — This app looks abandoned, and for me, buggy

*2022-10-30, version 2.2.19*

I want to be nice because I know these i-apps are not big money makers for smaller developers. Midiflow has (imo) a fantastic feature set, and once you get to know how it’s organized, it’s pretty easy and quick to set up a patch for very detailed and complicated scenarios.

I bought the app, then paid for all the IAPs. I should have checked here and on his forum first. Johannes seems to have abandoned this program. When it works, it’s great, but it’s unstable. It crashes a lot, right after I edit a song. I save the song (overwrite), switch to another song, crash - and when I go back to the song I was editing, all the edits I made before saving it are gone! Make the edits again, save (overwrite), then save an extra copy (with a different name) as a backup. Switch songs, crash. Once again my edits are gone, AND the backup song I saved is gone too! To say this is extremely frustrating is an understatement!

I know this isn’t the place for bug reports but as someone else mentioned, Johannes’s forum is locked and the most recent post there is over a year old as of this writing. I got an automated response to an email I tried sending to the admin of his forum saying “we don’t respond to emails, ask on the forum”, lol. The last update to this program is a year ago. All this to say I’m disappointed that I can’t recommend this app, as great as the features are. I play music for a living and was hoping to take this and my iPad on stage with me. I’m honestly not sure what I’m gonna do. Things do seem to be working when I’m not trying to save songs, and I already have many hours invested learning the app and programming the presets for the gig I’m doing. More stress testing I guess, once I have the programming finished. I probably shouldn’t update my iPad’s OS now, no telling what will happen!

### 4/5 — Amazing but can be better

*2022-09-20*

I love this app but to be perfect, it could have a way to mass sharing songs.

### 3/5 — Useful, but no support

*2021-12-01*

Good set of features for managing your MIDI chain on IOS, but if you run into a bug or have a question there is no response, and the community forum is locked

### 2/5 — iphone version can’t use

*2021-08-08*

IOS14 iPhone11, no back to main button, can’t return parent menu, such as edit name, change velocity…

### 1/5 — Force closes when I try to remap

*2021-07-13*

Sad that I paid for the app annnnd the remapping function
Please fix as this is really the only reason I bought this

### 3/5 — Nice as Midi Host. Problems with GUI

*2021-07-04*

This app seems to do what I wanted which is to get a clock in from a usb midi interface and then re-route the clock, through the same usb interface and a powered usb hub, to multiple synths. However I’m having some difficulties with the user interface where I’m not able to return to the main page from the “create a song” page and from the “select input keyboard” page. Please fix this issue or explain me how to do it. Give 3 stars for now….

### 2/5 — $11 dollars wasted

*2021-03-17*

The app crashes on the first note struck when a roli seaboard in single channel mode is connected to an analogue synth

### 2/5 — Pricing too complicated, does not work with AUM

*2021-03-08*

The title says it all. You get the app then you have to start buying all the bits and pieces individually, and you really don't know which ones you need because info is very cryptic written for engineers not musicians. Additionally it does not work inside AUM.... or at least I did not find a way of making it show. A true pity because it should be a very useful app..... Great idea, poor implementation. It happens frequently when you fall in love with coding and do not listen or check your software with the end users.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Apps impossible to connect in midi

*2026-07-31*

This app that is not free, pretending to connect apps between them, didn't work for me.
None of my apps containing midi would appear when i used the search console. I don't know if there is a list or whatever. Didn't work for me.

### 1/5 — Não funciona!!!

*2026-01-18*

### 1/5 — Not working after in app purchases

*2025-09-11*

Just did 2 in app purchases and app stopped working after that

### 1/5 — Rip off

*2025-03-18*

Does not work as advertised and support appears to be non-existent.

### 1/5 — Nem abre

*2025-03-09*

### 1/5 — Layout issues on my iPhone, can’t do what I want either

*2024-10-05*

I found a number of bugs, posted them on the support forum and got no response. ### 1/5 — App não abre

*2024-08-07*

App simplesmente parou de funcionar. Abre por 2 segundos e fecha.

Antes disso, comprei a funcionalidade do remap e não funcionou.

### 1/5 — Needs a demo version

*2024-05-10*

I am getting an error midi offline on my Roland JD Xi. I have connected Yamaha psr sx600 as input with Jdxi as output. The Yamaha is sending active sensing but that doesn’t reach jd xi.

Without this the purpose of the app is not served. And the fact that there is no demo version meant I have lost my money for an app that doesn’t seem to work.

### 1/5 — Simply didn’t load at all after paid updates installed

*2024-01-06*

I ve paid for three control updates for midi. After that, the app simply dont start (some kind of bug).
Cash in the trash.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Top!

*2025-01-04*

### 5/5 — What's up with the forum?

*2021-04-19*

the app has been updated and is running pretty flawlessly again.
Thanks!

### 5/5 — Excellent MIDI router for iOS

*2021-02-28*

Midiflow is a focused, full-featured, and efficient app for routing MIDI data among devices connected to an iOS tablet/phone. It is intuitive to setup, and basically worked straight away. The fact that it runs in the background is a crucial feature for any MIDI routing app.

Setup and use case is this:
Three MIDI-capable devices on a USB hub connected to my iPad Pro via the camera connection kit. Devices include: a digital mixer, a programmable MIDI foot switch, and a DMX lighting controller that has 5-pin (DIN) MIDI In port connected to the USB hub via a USB<->DIN MIDI controller cable.

A multitrack audio app sends digital audio to the mixer and midi note instructions to DMX controller. MIDI foot switch needs to send MIDI note and CC commands to the audio app, digital mixer, and DMX lighting controller. As is, only the audio app properly receives and sends MIDI data, since it is acting as a MIDI host app the iOS device; but, the app does provide MIDI thru/router functions to forward the MIDI data to other destination devices.

Enter, Midiflow. Midiflow is setup to receive MIDI data from the foot switch and forward these commands also to the mixer and DMX controller devices. Works perfectly!

This is a rather simple use case, but good demonstration of Midiflow’s critical function. Add to this its ability to also transform MIDI data while routing it to the proper destinations, while running as a background app on iOS... Just perfect!

### 5/5 — Le Graal du midi

*2020-10-30*

Grand bravo👏👏👏👏👏

### 5/5 — Super

*2020-08-31*

### 5/5 — Good stuff

*2020-05-05*

Kudos to this developer for making a pro app. my midi needs are modest. I’m use to workstations like the Motif, montage, etc. Mostly I just want to play 3-4 sounds at a time. Piano, Rhodes, strings or synth pad stacked and key bass on the left when needed—-no sustain pedal on the bass——all from the same controller too. This is so simple on stage pianos..
I usually don’t write reviews but this is what music tech on iOS should be. This is a GREAT app...seriously has me thinking that this +AUM=Mainstage for IOS! Plays great with AUM btw. Thanks for making this!

### 5/5 — Fantastic

*2020-04-04*

This app is so flexible, well designed and well documented too. Thanks.

### 5/5 — Great utility sort of midi app

*2019-12-12*

Love it. Only gripe is I would love a dark mode. Very white and bright
