## What is midiSequencer?

Already have a great set of IOS Synth apps but want to get some unique sounds & rhythms from them?

MidiSequencer is a step sequencer designed to let you play with melodic tunes on the fly to create exotic sounds from your favourite IOS and hardware synths.

** Reworked as Universal device (iPhone 4s,5,6,6+ and all iPads) **

Comprehensive manual available for view http://www.amssoftware.org/manual/midiSequencerManual.pdf

With step sequencing, up to 16 midi notes can be defined and played back interactively using buttons, sliders and swipes. It therefore lends itself to more experimental style of music making as steps can have all manner of variations - pitch, velocity, length, midi channel, swing, % probability(note or velocity) and musical ornaments such as ratchetting and mordents.

With the addition of chords, each step can also send out up to 128 note chords. You can create your own chords by using a on-screen keyboard or pick common ones such as the dim7.

Midi FX are now included included echo, filters, layering and note rotation....

MidiSequencer also offers extreme tempos (from 1 to 1020BPM) and a variety of Master/Slave combinations utilising midi clocks.

SPECIAL NOTES :
1) iOS 8 or greater only so iPad 1 not suported
2) Iphone 4 upwards only
3) This app makes no sound (although it can send/receive midi to coreMidi apps you have installed on your iPad).
4) To communicate with external midi equipment you will need a suitable iPad midi interface unless you use the Midi Network sessions over wifi.
5) 64 bit compliant

### 1/5 — Should be a zero rating

*2022-08-24*

App doesn’t function if it even starts. Crashes most times when I try to use it. Stay away and save your 3 dollars.

### 1/5 — Needs updating

*2020-09-28*

Just doesn’t work anymore, shouldn’t be on App Store if it’s not being updated anymore. Don’t waist your money.

### 1/5 — App not showing in Audiobus

*2020-04-01*

This app is not showing in Audiobus or AUM. Not sure how it can be used.

### 5/5 — Awesome for my setup

*2019-05-14*

I have few mono synths and a puc+ (Bluetooth midi device)
And this sequencer is so much fun! I set the velocity to open the cutoff on my nyborg12 synth and it’s an instant Depeche Mode...
For $2.99 it’s great.

### 4/5 — Complex, fun, frustrating

*2016-11-29*

Grabbed this on sale 'cause it looked like fun, and it is fun. But it would be a whole lot better if there was some kind of tutorial. There is a manual available via the devs website. But a quick start option would be helpful. I have no idea what I'm doing. Also, why doesn't the app quit when told to? It has to be manually swiped from memory.

### 5/5 — Great sequencer for iOS

*2016-08-18*

Tony has poured a lot of love into this sequencer. From visual realism to functionality. Extremely responsive dev. Great app. Recommended!

### 4/5 — Awesome sequencer! Needs UI makeover.

*2016-07-24*

Maybe if I were on something bigger than an iPad Mini I would find this sequencer easy to use. It certainly has enough features to keep a music geek busy for a very long time. But the interface looks to be made for a very large desktop computer monitor: shadows and highlights on tiny buttons and even a script font for some of the function labels. Clearly someone labored painstakingly over these details.

Unfortunately, I cannot use it without constant zooming and scrolling and zooming and scrolling, which completely kills the creative flow for me. There is a lot packed into the screen; the UI really needs to be redone in a more minimal style to make it work as a mobile app. I'm not at all a fan of extreme minimalism as a UI style--please keep the colors! Please don't give me orange or light gray on white!--but add a leavening of flatness and sans-serif fonts and I'll put that fifth star up.

### 5/5 — tremendous!

*2016-06-14*

a time machine to 1974! but with more features than they ever dreamed of. an extremely well built piece of software. more please!

### 3/5 — Pretty damned good.

*2016-04-04*

Used with external synths like iM1 or iSEM it works beautifully. The only sequencer which trumps this (there are a few which are in the same league) is Cream Mobile. Which is the best as a VST as well. Apparently.

### 5/5 — Powerful Midi tool - Highly recommended

*2016-03-13*

I didn't know how much you could do in 16 steps. 1 step alone can be a chord, strum or long arpeggio or just a good old mono note. Repeats, note probability and velocity variation percentages also. 16 step clips can be instantly loaded on the fly opening up the possibility of live use. An excellent sequencer.

## Frequently asked questions about midiSequencer

### What does midiSequencer do?

midiSequencer is a step sequencer designed to help you create unique sounds and rhythms from your iOS and hardware synthesizers. It allows for on-the-fly melodic tune creation with detailed control over each step's parameters, enabling experimental music making.

### What are the key features of midiSequencer?

Key features include step sequencing with extensive parameter control (pitch, velocity, length, MIDI channel, swing, probability), chord creation, built-in MIDI FX like echo and filters, and extreme tempo control. It also supports musical ornaments for more complex patterns.

### Does midiSequencer make sound on its own?

No, this app makes no sound on its own. It functions as a controller, sending MIDI data to other CoreMIDI-compatible apps or external hardware synthesizers. You will need separate synth apps or hardware to produce sound.

### What devices and iOS versions are supported?

### How can I create chords with midiSequencer?

You can create your own chords using an on-screen keyboard or select from common chord types. Each step can send out up to 128-note chords, adding a layer of harmonic complexity to your sequences.
