Follows that up with spammy whole-screen call to action splashes. Look mate, just show me the map where the chargers are and I'll happily make my payments through your app so that you get your cut. Make me have to do unnecessary busy work though? Well, I'll just make my payments direct to the charger network operator. Thanks anyway. ### 2/5 — Big rip off *2026-08-07, version 8.2.3* App works. Mostly. By having account with Miio be prepared to pay more than without. Doesn’t make any sense and I have asked support. The answer was they do not control end price. Strange enough that if you pay ad hoc you can easily get 0.20€/kWh or more cheaper. ### 3/5 — Needs improvement *2026-07-06, version 8.2.0* I confess I have had some issues with this app, such as not being able to use it to start charging sessions and some issues with logging in. It should have a support line 24/7 taking into consideration the nature of the service they provide however there’s not even a phone number available. They answer emails in business hours in an efficient and relatable manner. ### 2/5 — Fiddly *2026-06-11, version 8.1.14* There’s always some issue with this app, and the ‘auto’ topup never works. The app never locates the charger I’m standing RIGHT next to, and there are no clues about which charger is which. I don’t know how apps can still be this bad - surely just run the customer feedback through Claude code?!? ### 4/5 — Falta de transparencia *2026-06-01, version 8.1.14* Experiencia bastante decepcionante. Los precios son caros y, además, muy poco transparentes: tienes que hacer casi un ejercicio para entender cuánto te va a costar realmente una carga. El sistema de prepago tampoco ayuda, porque te obliga a mantener saldo retenido en la app en lugar de pagar por uso. Además, la carga puede terminarse automáticamente sin previo aviso cuando te quedan entre 3 y 5 € de saldo, obligándote a recargar de nuevo, con un mínimo de 20 €, aunque solo necesites unos pocos euros más. Esto hace que estés constantemente añadiendo saldo que muchas veces se queda retenido en la aplicación. Para rematar, la suscripción promete descuentos importantes en PowerDot que luego son mucho menores de lo anunciado. Sensación general de poca claridad y expectativas incumplidas. ### 4/5 — It works *2026-04-20* Out of the 7 different apps I’ve tried In Portugal to charge a car this is the one that actually only worked without a physical card. The app allows you to find a charging station but don’t bet your travels on it unless you have a physical card to activate the station. I use ViaVerde as a backup, which at least lets you activate the station without a physical token. **Developer response:** Hello João. We’re here to help improve your experience. ### 1/5 — Overcharging v advertised price *2025-11-25, version 8.0.4* Advertisers as 18cents charged me 61cents per KWH. Also stopped my active session when i topped up (still had 8 euro left), so had to go back to car plug out cable , plug in and restart another session. So frustrating. ### 1/5 — Avoid if you can *2025-11-24, version 8.0.4* I’ve been using miio for a while now, and unfortunately the experience has been incredibly frustrating. After trying several charging stations—none of which worked through the app—I finally found one that did, but only after a couple of weeks. When I eventually managed to charge, the cable wouldn’t disconnect, and customer support offered no real help. A few weeks later, I happened to pass by the same charger and saw my cable lying on the side of the road. It seems someone had disconnected it without telling me, and I received no communication or explanation from miio. To try to avoid issues with the app, I ordered a fob. It never arrived—twice. Now I’m being told it will take 21 days from my original payment date, which is far from acceptable. Overall, everything with miio feels like unnecessarily hard work. From unreliable chargers to poor communication and extremely slow service, the entire experience has been disappointing. Not recommended ### 1/5 — Useless *2025-11-22, version 8.0.4* What kind of fools developed this app? It forces me to give a phone number as part of the signup process, but as soon as I try and enter my phone number the submit button disappears so I can't submit my phone number. Using an iPhone 15. Standing on the side of the road trying to get a charge for my car. The app takes non refundable deposit and while not used just disappear in their system. ### 1/5 — Didn‘t work *2025-10-17, version 8.0.2* When I enter my email address and telephone number in the app under Settings, I can no longer return to the app itself. ### 4/5 — It works fine but you need the card. *2025-10-12, version 8.0.2* When I try to use only the app, it usually doesn’t work, but the card works perfectly. The problem is that if you don’t live in the country or don’t own an EV, you can’t get the card. Miio should solve this by making the card available locally — in stores, supermarkets, and even at rental agencies. ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — More expensive then petrol *2026-08-21, version 8.2.3* Super expensive and if you ask for a refund of any value in the wallet you still have to pay for it 🤦‍♂️ ### 1/5 — Fraudulent *2026-08-13, version 8.2.3* Started charging via BP station’s onboard reader (not miio) but got charged an invoice anyway. while the miio app showed “not connected, not charging” the entire time. Tried for 40+ min to stop the session through every method available; nothing worked. Had to abandon my car mid-charge to pick up kids, then Uber back later. miio’s own support has acknowledged similar cases in other reviews. Basically it can silently bill you for a session it says isn’t happening, with no way to stop it, is a real safety and financial risk. This shouldn’t be allowed on the App Store until it’s fixed. ### 1/5 — Katastrophale App *2026-08-10, version 8.2.3* Eine Sache die mein Leben in Portugal nicht bereichert hat war mit Sicherheit der Umgang mit dieser App. Intransparente Preisgestaltung mit teils vollkommen überzogenen Preisen, sowie ein Prepaid Modell mit 20€ als Mindestmenge, ohne Auszahlungsmöglichkeit des Restguthabens. Instructions and usability are incredibly bad. We couldn’t connect to the fast charger because it didn’t work so had to go to slow charger. I was with two of my very tech savvy sons but they were also finding it very difficult to use. The Hotel Charger expect only local bank cards so I followed ChatGPTs proposal. In the end miio charged instead of the local price on 25€cents almost the tripple price of 70€cents. It has been an absolute godsend! Between the app for locating charging stations, and the fob to start charging at stations which are not connecting to the app, we have been able to charge all across Europe, it’s been amazing. Highly recommend the app for anyone with an EV who is travelling through Europe. This is by far the best one I’ve used so far. It’s so easy to use and it’s so nice to see all the prices of the charging stations etc. In Portugal this seems to be the only app that people from outside of Portugal can actually use really easily. That’s amazing and there are so many details about how fast the car can charge and how long the charging stop will take more or less, it’s really good! The prices for charging are also fair and depend on the time of the day. But the Portuguese charging prices for electric cars are kind of a jungle. So the prices contain the kWh price, a minute price from the charging station provider, a fee for starting the starting session from the charging station provider and a network access fee so that miio can access the station. And all of those prices seem to be different for every charging station.
