No support from tmc only threatening calls that you are fiddling your mileage and tax man will be notified. Stay away. ### 1/5 — Battery drain *2025-02-26, version 8.0.30* The app will run in the background continuously even overnight when the phone is stationery and kills the battery completely. ### 1/5 — Simply Awful *2024-10-25, version 8.0.29* This app is absolutely diabolical, possibly the worst app I have ever used. User interfaces are cheap rubbish making the whole experience feel like it’s a 10 year old app that has never been updated. Unfortunately it’s an app people have to use as the website looks like it was coded by a 3 year old also. Something as simple as tracking mileage accurately is beyond the reach of this application. I’m forever manually logging details, deleting the app, reinstalling the app and transferring onto the desktop version to try and keep on top of business mileage. Why our company keeps persisting is beyond me. Update Sept 23: nothing’s changed. It seems that every week there is a different niggle with this app. Aside from the fact that tracking is still very hit and miss, I.e. sometimes it works but mostly it won’t track at all, the app keeps throwing in little hurdles just to keep its users entertained. A few weeks back, it suddenly stopped recognising my home postcode. The very same postcode I’d been using since forever. Today… well, this is extra special… I couldn’t even log in. The log in screen’s stuck on a perpetual facial cognition loop. Where it’s recognised me but then goes through the process over and over never actually giving me access to the app. So here we go, another day of deleting the app and reinstalling it in the hope it will fix the issue! Oh, and don’t bother contacting the help desk. The company seems to be running on a shoe string budget and the staff is mostly inexperienced young kids who struggle to understand the difference between a Diesel and an EV (that one took 2 emails and a phone call to resolve). Stay clear of this app. The hassle just isn’t worth it ### 1/5 — Last Update has totally trashed the app *2023-09-07, version 8.0.14* Latest “update “ has trashed the app. I CANNOT log in now as it continuously does face recognition and then loops back to face recognition. Try testing the app before you release it. App is very basic both in looks style and UI function. Inability to name favourites. Small UI screen. Extremely basic. Manual mileage calculations are always wrong states using google for its calculations but clearly does not as I use Google maps to check and there are always vast differences. For what this system has to do it does it poorly. If you don’t have to do not use. ### 1/5 — Dreadful *2026-05-28, version 8.0.38* Quite possibly the worst app (and accompanying website) on the planet. I have to apologise to new recruits! Feels like it was built by an enthusiastic amateur in a bedroom ten years ago. Logging journeys. Think google and sharing trips? Use a spreadsheet? Have a list of fav routes to reuse? None of them work. And the only other I am worried about is this app recording my every trip, even with location options turned off. ## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated) ### 5/5 — Easy to use, time saving app *2019-03-06* I used the GPS on the app to track all my business journeys last month which made my month end mileage submission super quick and easy! Also good to see the impact different routes to same location has on mileage. ### 4/5 — Good app *2022-01-31* The app works well. Been using the GPS to frack my business journeys. Most of the time it is working perfectly, however on very long journeys I can lose signal. When using the app in the Republic of Ireland it is impossible to use the GPS, not sure why it doesn’t work. ### 4/5 — Better *2019-04-08* It’s improved a lot with v5.3, I’ve actually started using again. I still feel it would be easier to log milage as a full trip instead of having to start/stop at every call (i often forget to to start it after I leave a call then have to go back in and manually put milage in) pressing start on leaving the house and stop at home would be much easier. **Developer response:** Your feedback is much appreciated. Yes. This is an improvement. It seems to drop GPS less frequently and refreshingly saves the majority of your journey asking you to clarify mileage. Much better. Previously not much functionality but at least it managed to track mileage. Now the app either exits during a journey meaning you have to dig around for Postcodes and mileage travelled. Most recently it captures the mileage but neither starting nor destination locations and when you enter the postcodes it warns that Postcodes must be entered correctly! Your only option is to force close the app and struggle instead with the website. **Developer response:** We're sorry to hear that. Kind regards, TMC ### 2/5 — Needs to include multi destination trips *2026-04-17, version 8.0.38* It’s time consuming having to do to and from every place you visit. ### 2/5 — App isn’t great *2025-07-24, version 8.0.38* I tracked a journey which was good but the save button wouldn’t work. I then manually entered it and the app crashes everytime I try to do it manual. ### 2/5 — Clunky, buggy, out dated *2024-10-02, version 8.0.29* The mobile app UX is extremely poor. It feels like collection of & maximisation of movement data has been given higher or equal priority to user experience. I’ve used the app for over 2.5 years and there’s no obvious attempt at modernisation or improvement in any way to benefit the poor end users that are burdened with its use. Postcodes known to be true are often rejected. The auto track functionality is so glitchy, the additional admin burden to verify accuracy makes the features use avoidable at all cost. Manual calculation of distance by postcode makes consultation with google maps or another 3rd party app necessary and time consuming; highliting: The freely available functionality within google maps is so wildly beyond that of TMC, it really makes you wonder how TMC manages to hoodwink companies into paying for the service. If someone from google was to spend 10 minutes of their lunch break on a competing service, TMC would be out of business within a year. It would be funny how awful the TMC App is, if it were not for the web hosted version of the service, which is so criminally bad it ought to be used in computer science courses to illustrate how poor UX can actually get. ### 2/5 — System not responding *2023-06-21, version 8.0.12* Since latest update, opening app is the only thing that seems to work. Can’t even click onto the 3 bar menu button. Means I cannot use the app at all. ### 2/5 — Fix this app *2023-06-20, version 8.0.12* App keeps locking up or freezing taking 20 seconds to respond or randomly not recording trips, they only way to make it work again is to delete the app and reinstall. Every update seems to have different errors. Now the auto trip feature doesn’t work start a trip but when finish it doesn’t show any journey.
