Also, the business icons on the map view are tiny and you can’t zoom in to enlarge to see what the business names are. ### 2/5 — Great when it works. Broad range of merchants to get extra miles through the shopping portal, to get miles when buying e-gift cards, even better when doing BOTH at the same time. However, transactions fail OFTEN. Having a “point of sale” app that routinely fails at the point of sale is EXTREMELY frustrating. Contacts to help/customer service yield either no results, or “solutions” that don’t resolve the issue. Blaming a bank or CC issuer isn’t a resolution when a bank either didn’t reject a charge, or if a rejected charge is cleared/approve the app shifts to “Pay for [item] with Miles is Temporarily Unavailable” when you’ve designated a card (NOT miles) as the payment source. ### 2/5 — Can't add credit cards *2026-06-08, version 4.3.5* Why my saved credit cards are all gone?? It starts working on its own i guess but then stops again and can’t purchase anything ### 1/5 — Gift Card Purchase Feature Is Completely Broken *2026-05-21, version 4.3.4* I’ve been using this app for the past week specifically to purchase gift cards — which is the most reliable way to secure your miles on in-store purchases without worrying about whether a retailer link properly tracks. Smart strategy, right? Except the app won’t let me do it. Every single attempt to purchase a gift card results in a denial. No clear error message, no explanation — just a dead end. I’ve done my homework: verified my account settings, confirmed cookies are enabled, and even followed the workarounds circulating on Reddit and travel miles forums (delete and reinstall, turn off Wi-Fi, toggle settings back and forth). None of it works consistently, and none of it should be necessary in the first place. The real-world impact is real: I’ve been left standing at checkout, holding up the line, unable to complete a purchase because the one reliable method the app offers doesn’t function. That’s embarrassing and completely avoidable. This isn’t a fringe bug — search any travel rewards forum and you’ll find pages of users hitting the same wall. United, this needs to be a priority fix, not a workaround users have to crowdsource themselves. The concept is solid. The execution is broken. You wanna buy a gift card for instance, and it will not process your gift card and it doesn’t give you a reason. It just says contact customer support. If your credit card or debit card expires, it doesn’t allow you to delete that credit card card from the file so it’s always perpetually on their system. Customer support doesn’t respond to your messages. If they do respond, it’s very cursory. The app before the upgrade about a year ago used to work really well. I used it all the time. Enjoy getting the points. And now it consistently doesn’t work. I’m not sure if it’s better if you sign up with Southwest or some other Airline but a century it’s the same model maybe their supports better there. ### 1/5 — App Doesn’t Work *2026-08-18, version 4.3.6* Cannot make purchases with points. I tried numerous times to purchase an Uber gift card and it always says that the transaction cannot be completed. It further says to reach to gift card support to report the problem if the issue continues. I filled out the form several times but nothing ever happened. I have now deleted the app from my phone. I reached out to customer service & they said they didn’t know when it would be available. You can’t log in and it gives an error message continuously. No discernible rhyme or reason as to when it works and when it fails. The support link provided is a dead link. When I’ve emailed support, I get au auto-response saying I should hear back in 7-10 days, or that there’s no problem because some of my purchases went through.
