## What is MileGuard?

Never get surprised by a lease mileage overage bill again.

Lease overages are billed off your dash odometer, often at $0.15 to $0.30 per extra mile. MileGuard exists so that number isn't a surprise.

Set up your lease once with your allowance, dates, and current odometer. MileGuard does the rest.

AUTOMATIC DRIVE TRACKING
MileGuard uses your phone's motion and location to detect when you're driving and estimate the distance. No extra hardware, no plugging anything in, no connected-car account. Prefer manual? Log an odometer reading or add a drive in seconds.

It follows this iPhone, not your VIN. A rental, a rideshare, or a drive where you were the passenger isn't counted unless you say so. Your odometer stays the source of truth, and MileGuard reminds you to read it so the estimate stays honest.

ALWAYS KNOW WHERE YOU STAND
- A live headroom gauge showing miles left this lease-year
- Turn-in projection: on track, or how far over, and the estimated fee
- Pace tracking so you can ease off before it costs you
- "Can I make this trip?" Check a road trip against your allowance before you go
- Monthly mileage trends

STAY AHEAD OF TURN-IN
- Milestone alerts as you approach your limit (90% / 95% / 100%)
- Maintenance reminders based on your odometer
- Export a clean mileage statement (PDF or CSV) anytime

RIGHT ON YOUR HOME & LOCK SCREEN
Home Screen and Lock Screen widgets keep your headroom a glance away, and a Live Activity tracks a drive in progress right in the Dynamic Island. Works in miles or kilometers.

PRIVATE BY DESIGN
No account. No sign-up. No email. Your lease, vehicle, and trip data stay on your device; we don't run a server that collects it. Analytics are anonymous, and MileGuard never tracks you across other apps.

### 1/5 — Not accurate

*2026-07-03*

Unfortunately, this app does not properly track monthly mileage. It appears to always reset the mileage allowance on the 1st of the month, regardless of when the lease actually started.
Even if my lease month begins on a different date, the app still counts from the 1st. For example, the current month just started and the app is already telling me I’ve used up all my miles yet I still have 20 days left in my actual lease month and have barely driven. If this matter is fixed then the app will be a good way to track mileage

**Developer response:** Hi, thank you for this. You found a real bug, and you described it perfectly: earlier versions reset the monthly allowance on the 1st of the calendar month instead of your lease's own monthly date. That is fixed in the current version. Monthly tracking now follows your lease anniversary, so if your lease month starts on the 14th, your allowance runs the 14th to the 14th, and the final month prorates correctly too. You can also correct the numbers anytime by entering your real odometer reading, and the app reconciles itself to match. An even better update lands in just a few days, including a Send Diagnostics option in Settings that comes straight to me, so if anything ever looks off I can dig in personally. Your mileage math should be exactly right now. I appreciate you holding us to it.

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 3.2.0 — 2026-08-29

This one is about automatic drive detection getting it right.

Drives end when you do
A drive could previously stay "in progress" long after you parked, sometimes for hours, which made trip times look wrong and used more battery than it should. MileGuard now closes a drive out once it has genuinely stopped moving, and closes it right away when your car's stereo disconnects after you've parked.

Your headphones are no longer mistaken for your car
MileGuard can now tell a car stereo from a pair of earbuds, so putting in AirPods no longer looks like the start of a drive. Driving with headphones and no car Bluetooth works exactly as before.

Easier on your battery
When repeated background wake-ups find you aren't moving, detection now backs off instead of checking again every few minutes.

More accurate distances
Fixed a case where a stale location reading from hours earlier could be counted at the start of a drive.

We've also retired badges and logging streaks. MileGuard is at its best when you never need to open it, and streaks rewarded the opposite.

### 3.1.1 — 2026-07-22

Smarter tracking, truer numbers.

• Detection Health — a new dashboard card tells you instantly if a phone setting is quietly blocking drive detection, and takes you straight to the fix.
• Update your odometer anytime — enter what your dash says and MileGuard reconciles the difference automatically. Your odometer is always the source of truth.
• Fix any trip — edit a distance, merge a drive that got split at a long stoplight, delete with undo, or add a drive manually.
• More accurate pace — projections now measure from your lease-start date and odometer, so "on pace" means exactly that. Existing users get a one-time confirmation so past numbers correct themselves.
• EV-aware maintenance — electric vehicles no longer get oil-change reminders. Tell us your powertrain once, and reminders match your car.
• Send Diagnostics — if a drive ever doesn't look right, one tap in Settings sends us the details (events and timestamps only — never your location).

Plus faster drive detection, better battery behavior, and plenty of polish.
