### 2/5 — Amateur attempt at creating an app or negligent

*2021-05-02, version 1.9*

This is the most frustrating app I’ve ever used. The YouTube instructions seem more like an infomercial and leave questions unanswered. Tech support is nonexistent. The app has a timer option but no way to set the on and off sequence. There is nothing in the tutorials or in the literature explaining how to program the timer. Bleh, if I hadn’t invested so much in the Mi-lights I’d trash this and move on.

### 3/5 — Milight ok, could be better.

*2018-03-01, version 1.9*

Took a while and a bit of fiddling (and swearing!) to get it to hook up to Wi-fi (3/4G very intermittent, more not working than working!). Once hooked up it works fine on Wi-fi, saying that , if I’m in the house I can use the remote, but, with one of the reasons being the ability to be able to use it whilst out of the house, and not being able to, it then seems quite redundant.
Please fix these bugs and also add timer function.
These small changes would make this at least a four star app.
Otherwise it’s ok.

### 2/5 — Won't connect to my router

*2015-10-15, version 1.6*

I have had this for over a year now.
You guys MUST update the app. After IOS 9 the app won't let me connect the "milight" box to my internet router! I tried everything! It just won't let me select!
Having me change my wifi every time i want to turn them on is AWFUL!!

### 2/5 — Needs update for IOS9

*2015-10-05, version 1.6*

Got to the end of setup on my iPhone 6+. Could not select my router because button in app would not depress. Had to use my iPad which still had IOS 8 (button would depress there). This app works okay. Best if you leave it running in background. Otherwise you have to scan for access point, select remote style, etc. before you can do anything. It would be nice to have a setting to default all of that for a faster startup. Does not support the newer FUT028 strip controllers that do RGBW with white and RGB on together. Will it someday!?

### 3/5 — Mi light

*2015-05-23, version 1.6*

Had a problem setting up with the instructions seems to work if you connect your phone to wifi controller then before you connect to router add your lights
Then connect to router lastly
Cellular operation a bit flaky but works
There's no way of knowing if your lights are on if your away
No timers either
Seems ok when it works though
But there's a lot of room for improvement

### 1/5 — Can't get app to find light

*2015-03-23, version 1.6*

Just searches and finds nothing. App opens up with 'device' and 'searching'. App support link is no help. The box it came in said put it in a socket and press any (|) button of the 4 zones immediately once you switch on the bulb - but there are no zones, just the word 'Device'.

### 3/5 — Ok

*2015-03-16, version 1.6*

But try Easybulb app. Much better

### 4/5 — Needs slight tweak please

*2014-11-21, version 1.6*

If you have any brain at all this is easy to set up.
The instructions are a bit vague, but with a small amount of thought it's easy to get working and it works well.
Though the 3G doesn't seem to work for me it may be a firewall issue
You have to connect initially to the Milight box network, then link the box to YOUR network.
So first look for the Milight box NETWORK and connect to it in your available networks first, then configure it and then link it in the config to YOUR named network.
It's easy, THiNK before whinging it doesn't work.
The only slightly confusing thing when using it is the 8 different control interfaces in the app when only one actually seems to work and only one is needed to control the lights.
It would be nice if I could set my chosen interface as the default one and delete the other 7 not used and needed.
This would make it slightly quicker and easier to navigate and to use.
Overall needs polish

### 4/5 — Philips hue clone for cheap

*2014-09-29, version 1.6*

This app controls the "mi light LED bulb" found off eBay for only a few dollars.
While not as full featured as hue, I am impressed there are wifi color Lightbulbs for cheap, it actually cost me less than a simple non-smart led bulb from home depot

### 2/5 — Works

*2014-09-18, version 1.6*

Documentation is a bit vague if not inaccurate and unclear in places. Does what it should once you manage to work out how to configure it. That said it is very basic and has no added functionality such as presets, which from an app development perspective would be simple to add. Hoped for a bit more given the investment made in the mi-light hardware. Hopefully something with more functionality will follow.

### 3/5 — Works ok but app is awful

*2014-09-16, version 1.6*

Please please update your app it looks terrible. Whoever designed it clearly has no previous design expertise. If you let me I would do it for you! I Look at the app everyday and it's painful to use!

### 2/5 — Great Product, Lacking app

*2014-08-31, version 1.6*

The LED product itself is great but the app is lacking simple features like:
- Timers & Schedules
- Ramp speed control
- Scene Control
- the ability to manually set the light to 100% by flicking the wall switch on/off quickly within a few seconds if your smartphone has no battery etc.
- A proximity feature would also be nice eg when you arrive home the porch lights come on.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Not working anymore

*2020-06-21, version 1.9*

This app used to work but does not anymore with the Mi-Lights I bought in 2014.

### 1/5 — Upgrade

*2019-06-19, version 1.9*

Can the developers upgrade this app

### 1/5 — What happened to this app?

*2019-03-13, version 1.9*

The latest update seems to have broken the whole app. It no longer shows all the necessary menu buttons.
I’m stuck using my remote until it is fixed.

### 1/5 — Update and make better

*2018-07-21, version 1.9*

Last update 1.9 removed the icons from the bottom of the app. How can I setup my wifi? Can you upload v1.7?

### 1/5 — Garbage

*2017-12-12, version 1.9*

Don’t waste your time.

### 1/5 — Does not work with my iPhone

*2017-11-07, version 1.9*

Followed all instructions to the letter, still unable to connect, no longer working since upgraded to latest phone software

### 1/5 — Ok, but slow

*2015-11-10, version 1.7*

This app is just _terrible_ now. Go and get Home Remote as it supports the Apple Watch, TV, Mac and iPhone.

### 1/5 — Buyer Beware

*2015-10-23, version 1.6*

Just bought one set up fine and app works untill you try to connect to network. It will not allow you to choose a your network to enter password which is required so cannot use away from home. App needs updating.

### 1/5 — Not usable

*2015-10-16, version 1.6*

When trying to configure the wifi network to connect to, none of the networks are able to be pressed. Therefore it will not connect to them. Tried via iPhone 6 and iPad 3. Same issue on both.

### 1/5 — Needs update for iOS 9

*2015-10-06, version 1.6*

The app seems to work fine until the point of configuration, it will display your home router, but will not allow you to connect or input the password to connect, which is what is required to get the damned app working. Useless.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Working on iOS 10.0.1

*2016-09-29, version 1.9*

App working correctly on iOS 10 but unsure should I be using this app or the 3.0 version.

I've got 3 GU10 rgb bulbs hooked upto it.

All working and perfectly syncing at same time.

Will report back when adding RGB LED controllers installed 5050 led strip lights into my system.

Unsure if should be using this app or the new 3.0 app.

Instructions & QR code from the Wifi Bridge controller sent me to this app.

### 5/5 — Works as promised

*2016-03-12, version 1.9*

Works great. Free. Works with all of my Mi-lights. I haven't tried paid apps. This one was recommended by my hardware. I bought my hardware for the holiday in winter of 2015.

### 5/5 — Works a treat

*2015-11-14, version 1.7*

Takes a bit of time to connect but once connected does exactly what you want to do! Love it.
Took me ages to figure out that a long 3s press of a button gives you white light though. But now I know: all good.

### 5/5 — Update

*2015-11-05, version 1.6*

Please update this app to be compatible with iOS 9 and after.

### 5/5 — Please update.

*2015-10-30, version 1.6*

Please update. I love the Bluetooth app you have developed. I want that for this app tho. Please please update app. Add music and preset settings.

### 5/5 — Does what it should

*2014-10-24, version 1.6*

Works ! On led strips and bulbs. Pretty cool

### 5/5 — Icon

*2014-05-29, version 1.6*

Can you please change the icon to something more apple like? Something modern that doesn't look like it was made in MS paint....

### 5/5 — Simple and useful

*2013-12-28, version 1.6*

Easy installation, user friendly experience. Good job milight

### 4/5 — Nice app!

*2016-12-22, version 1.9*

The app works well with my milight wifi controller, it would be a lot better if they could add a timer functionality.

### 4/5 — Works just as described

*2014-12-12, version 1.6*

It took me a while to pair the bulbs with the wifi controller but after I did the app works flawlessly. Great alternative to Hue lights.
