## What is MilitaryRetire?

Plan your military retirement live. MilitaryRetire turns rank, dates, accounts, and disability into a working draft you can drag and reshape on screen — not a stack of spreadsheets.

Built for active-duty service members deciding when to retire, whether to chase a final promotion, and how the post-service paychecks will actually stack up.

WHAT'S IN v2.0

• Retirement, live — Drag your current rank, date of rank, target rank at retirement, and target retirement date. Watch monthly pay, the High-3 / BRS multiplier, and your projected lifetime value recompute as you move. A "promotion impact" chip shows what making O-5 (or any next rank) is worth before you decide to chase it.

• Survivor planning — Spouse coverage and per-child rows with age steppers so SBP costs and dependent benefits roll off correctly as kids age out.

• VA Disability — Add ratings, see the combined-rating math (VA does NOT add ratings — each applies to the remaining healthy percentage). Concurrent receipt eligibility flagged automatically.

• NEW Taxes tab — Federal estimator with accurate brackets plus a single configurable state rate (set 0 for TX/FL/NV/WA/AK and other states that don't tax military retirement pay). Add concurrent civilian income and spouse income to see your true take-home.

• Lifestyle workbench — Separate cards for TSP, Traditional IRA, Roth IRA, Traditional 401(k), and Roth 401(k). Set growth rate, withdrawal age, and 4%-rule draw per bucket. 30-year stacked income chart with an after-tax overlay shows exactly what hits your bank account each year, by source.

### 2.0.1 — 2026-07-13

Data correction: the bundled 2026 military basic pay table now matches the official DoD/DFAS table (Executive Order 14368, effective January 1, 2026), including the 2025 junior-enlisted pay raise. Previous versions understated basic pay -- and therefore retirement pay estimates -- for most grades. New automated integrity checks pin the table to official published rates so this stays correct.

v2.0 turns MilitaryRetire into a live retirement workbench.

What's new:

• Live sliders on the Retirement tab — drag your current rank, date of rank, target rank, and target retirement date, and watch your projected pay recalc instantly. Plan transitions in seconds, not spreadsheets.

• New Taxes tab — federal tax with the official IRS 2026 brackets, plus a flat state rate you set yourself. Add concurrent civilian income and spouse income to see your real take-home picture.

• Retirement accounts you actually have — separate buckets for TSP, IRA, and 401k, each with Traditional and Roth sides. Set growth rates, withdrawal ages, and 4%-rule draws per bucket.

• Survivor planning rebuilt — spouse coverage plus per-child rows with age steppers, so SBP and dependent benefits roll off correctly as kids age out.

• Five-tab layout — Retirement, Survivor, VA Disability, Taxes, Lifestyle. Each tab focused on one part of your post-service income, with data flowing across tabs so a change in one place updates everywhere.

• 30-year stacked income chart with an after-tax overlay — see exactly what hits your bank account each year of retirement, by source.

• Learn content moved to Settings to make room for the new Taxes tab.
