On the watch, I haven’t been able to select a store to get the custom sort order since Apple retired Force Press and the developer email address does not work, which is concerning. ### 2/5 — Don’t buy sync! *2024-10-11* Loved this app for groceries. Easy, simple design, good starter database included, recalls repeat items, section for notes. Then I purchased Sync to back up lists before upgrading device. EPIC FAIL. All data went Poof! Vaporized, Disappeared. Gone. Multiple yrs building lists I depended on. Efforts to contact developer/help bounced. “Message has been blocked. Aber nun denn... ### 3/5 — Excellent shopping list app but no support *2021-06-29* This is an excellent shopping list app. It is so easy to use and clean to look at. I’ve tried a number of shopping lists apps or task apps for shopping lists but Milk for Us takes the cake. Even the kids have the app on their iPads and love helping the family shopping. A few minor improvements and fixes would make this the best shopping list app available. However, there is no response on the support email. Is it possible to get support? I would give this app 5 stars if I could get a response. ### 4/5 — Das Wesentliche… *2021-06-26, version 1.6.1* Wir nutzen die App in der Familie nun für unsere Einkäufe. Auch auf der Watch. Wir sind soweit sehr zufrieden. Das einzige, was uns jedoch massiv stört, ist langsame Synchronisation zwischen den Geräten. An der Mobilfunkversorgung kann es nicht liegen, da unser Supermarkt hier keine Probleme bereitet. Warum ist das ein Problem? Wir schwärmen im Supermarkt aus, um gleichzeitig einzukaufen, damit wir schneller fertig sind. Wir teilen uns natürlich grob auf. Der App Sync funktioniert aber leider nicht wirklich in Echtzeit, weswegen wir uns dann am Ende vor der Kasse immer gegenseitig fragen müssen, ob dies oder das tatsächlich im Einkaufswagen ist, da es beim einen in der App gestrichen ist, in der anderen App aber nicht. Wir würden uns wünschen, hier einen stabilen schnellen Echtzeit-Sync zu bekommen. ### 4/5 — An sich sehr gut… *2021-04-14* Was mir noch fehlt ist die Eingabe einer Menge per Counter. Dann gibt es 5 Sterne. ### 3/5 — It was great a few years ago *2021-01-27* Loved this app back when it was being developed but it seems to be abandoned now with no updates for years. The sync was pretty good at one time but it’s now causing a lot of problems. List items disappear, don’t get synced, duplicate, etc. I’m going to find a new list app for the store. It’s great to have the aisles set up correctly so you can walk through and pick things like a warehouse, wish it still worked. ### 3/5 — KIS, aber ein paar Kleinigkeiten fehlen *2020-08-24* Einfach zu bedienen und schneller Sync. Wäre klasse. ### 5/5 — What a Great App! *2020-08-14* Milk for Us is such a great app. I’ve been using it for years, and it’s always reliably here on my phone and watch to help. Setting up and revising a shopping list is so easy. When I need to get groceries, I simply scroll through my list and select what I want. By choosing from my set list, I don’t need to worry about remembering things - it prompts me instead. Once my list is set, I head to the store and mark items off from my watch as I shop. This is the only 3rd party app I use on my watch. It works flawlessly like the native Apple watch apps. Thanks to the developer for your great work! ### 5/5 — Just Right! *2020-07-26* I feel like Goldilocks who just found Mama Bear’s bed. And I’ve tried a lot of “beds”. Milk for Us is just the right mix of features and simplicity. It is visually simple and easy on the eyes, as an iOS app should be. The name is odd in my opinion but the app is GREAT. Grocery Gadget was too complex, replete with prices, taxes, pictures, etc. I used it faithfully for years patiently waiting for an Apple Watch app that never came. It got old shopping with my phone in one hand, repeatedly retrieving it from my holster. And sometimes leaving it unattended in the cart or on a shelf somewhere while reading nutrition labels. Wanting an Apple Watch app, I next tried the Grocery app (lemon icon). It was simple to use but with confusing settings. Their Apple Watch app is tied to the Reminders app which has limitations such as no aisles. So I added the aisles to the note for every item but my notes randomly disappeared after each shopping trip. And it wasn’t so good at “learning” my shopping order in the store as it claimed. I still had to manually order the list before each trip to the store especially after adding new items. NOTE: I purposely waited to review Milk for Us until after I added all my groceries to this app and did my first shopping trip with it. I love this app for 3 main reasons: 1. I like ability to create/edit my own aisles. But if you know your store layouts well, you can just use the default aisles instead of creating new ones like I do. (I’m just a little OC about this.) I only shop at Target but if you shop at more than one store for groceries, it would get cumbersome creating custom aisles for each store as you’d have to have duplicate products, one for each store. I guess you could indicate the store by editing the products with a symbol or letter to differentiate them. 2. I like the ability to default sort the aisles .. my grocery list is ALWAYS in order when I shop. 3. I like the Apple Watch app! It works flawlessly, just tap the items as you put them in your cart. GREAT USER TIP: Adjust a watch setting so Milk for Us appears when your watch wakes, so you don’t have to keep opening the app on it while shopping. To do this, open the watch app on your phone and select General > Wake Screen > On Screen Wake Show Last App > then choose either “Within 2 Minutes of Use” or “Always“. If you want a simple grocery app that works the way we shop in the real world, TRY THIS APP! ### 5/5 — Good app but no localized food database *2020-05-30, version 1.6.1* I like this app a lot. But the database of food items is not localized. That is, when setting the app language to German on an iOS device that uses English as default language the food names in the database are still English. While I can build my own database step by step, starting from an initial list would be more productive. ### 2/5 — Sharing sync is terrible *2020-04-04* My wife and I have been using this for shared shopping lists. Works pretty well EXCEPT the syncing between our devices is terrible. Almost every trip to the store items don’t get purchased because they don’t show up in the other’s list. It can take hours or days to update. We’ve tried closing the app and reopening, ever restarting phones and there is no reliable solution. Might be fine for 1 user lists with no need to share. Wir haben beide die 3,99€ bezahlt, aber die Sync-Funktion geht nicht. Der Support meldet sich nicht zurück. Kleine Verbesserungswünsche: Einfachen Weg die Anzahl einzutragen (wieviel Milch brauche wir die Woche) … wir behelfen uns mit dem Kommentarfeld aber das ist irgendwie ein Klick zu viel. Trotzdem 5* für die App. ### 1/5 — Kein Service mehr *2026-05-03, version 1.6.1* Die Sync Option ist abgelaufen. Eine Verlängerung wurde abgerechnet, aber der Sync funktioniert nicht mehr. Kontaktversuche über die App scheiterten (Mail unzustellbar). Although we pay for the sync between our two phones, even when my wife and I sit next to each other, it never syncs the list. We have logged out and back in and the lists aren’t updated. Very frustrated their isn’t a manual sync option or a way to get this to sync between the phones. Same account on each of our phones. The sync feature was awesome. She could add to list while I was out shopping. Not anymore. They won't sync with each other and I paid for the year premium service. Aso, clicking "email milk for us" in the settings tab does nothing so I can't contact them to ask for help. Synchronisieren sollte bei iOS-Geräten zunächst kostenlos (!!) über iCloud funktionieren. Leider wird sie nach dem Kauf nicht mehr gebucht. Das Geld ist eine weg, die App zeigt nur Fehlermeldung ### 5/5 — Beste Einkaufsapp *2024-05-28* Die App ist einfach zu bedienen, die verschiedene, farbliche Gestaltung der Listen gefällt mir sehr gut. Ich hab sie seit zwei Jahren und möchte sie nicht mehr missen. Besonders gut gefällt mir die automatische Sortierung nach Einkaufskategorien und die werbefreie Nutzung. Danke! ### 5/5 — Die beste EinkaufsApp! *2023-06-26* Nachdem die alte Groceries-App von Sophia leider aus dem Store verschwunden ist, kam hiermit zum Glück eine gleichsinnig funktionierende Alternative - sogar mit weiteren Features. Da man mittlerweile iOS Apps auch auf neuen Macs nutzen kann, habe ich Sync abonniert und es klappt bestens. Versehentlich hatte ich das Konto aber in der blanken App am Mac eingerichtet und dann erst am iPhone verknüpft, was sich als fatal erwiesen hat, da die iPhone-App dann ebenfalls blank war. Sämtliche zugefügte Produkte, zugefügte Kategorien, Einkaufslisten waren weg. Vielleicht ließe sich das allererste Quersyncen künftig mit einer Popup Frage optimieren, zB mit einer Option „zusammenfügen“. War aber in meinem Falle nicht wild, das Neu-Erstellen geht ja fix. Als weiteres Feature wünsche ich mir eine Möglichkeit in den Einstellungen, um Google Analytics deaktivieren zu können. Besonders die Möglichkeit die Reihenfolge der Abteilungen für jedes Geschäft separat festzulegen, gefällt mir besonders gut. Danke! ### 5/5 — Lange gesucht und fündig geworden *2022-09-12* Nachdem bei meiner bisherigen Einkaufs-App die Synchronisation nicht mehr funktionierte, musste eine neue her. Es gibt Einkaufs-Apps wie Sand am Meer, trotzdem habe ich lange gesucht. Milk for us hat genau die Funktionen, die ich brauche, und kein unnötiges Zeug. Die Oberfläche ist schlicht und aufgeräumt. I can easily arrange aisles based on the stores I’m visiting and the order I like to shop. Notes help me remember specifics, like the quantities I need for recipes or a particular requested brand. The watch app has been a game changer for pandemic shopping; I can quickly reference my list and cross off items without grabbing my phone.
