I live in a condo and composting isn’t much of an option for me. Also since I’ve had the mill, an added benefit is that the smelly food I was putting in my garbage isn’t stinking up my condo or car. I forget to stop at the dumpster headed to work consistently😵‍💫 but now I don’t have to drive back home with the stench. The Mill bin which we’ve dubbed nomnom has been so easy to use. It is amazingly intuitive and simple to unbox, set-up, fill with food scraps and then box and return food dust. The design of the bin is sleek and unobtrusive. We generate a good amount of food scraps and have been impressed at how much this bin can handle at once - watermelon rind, corn ears and husks, avocado skin and pit, lots of banana skins, apple cores and orange peels. The bin automatically runs every night and it’s ready to be refilled the next morning! No more stinky or overflowing trash cans in our garage! Today, we sent our first box of food dust to Mill - another user friendly experience! Happy eating chickens!! But if you don’t have an account, there is no way to sign in. EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED! ### 1/5 — What a mistake *2025-12-27* The idea of having a garbage can that needs to be plugged in was repulsive, but I decided I’d try it since it was a gift. But when it couldn’t be used- as in “there’s no way to set the clock”-without downloading an app to my phone, it was clear that the app is designed to do something other than set the clock (clocks were able to be set for centuries without apps). It must be a Trojan Horse mining data from your phone and every other thing it Bluetooth’s with. ### 1/5 — Locked out *2025-04-14* I was locked out after I changed my email address. There is no help phone or chat. They have not yet responded to my request for help on their help center. I can’t use the app. I would hope that with a machine this pricey they would take customer support more seriously. ### 1/5 — Loved it for two weeks, now it doesn’t work *2025-02-09* Loved this product. With 3 kids, it was great to reuse our food waste. Unfortunately, it disconnected after two weeks of use. Despite going through all the troubleshooting steps (not fun to spend my Sunday morning doing this btw), it is still cannot connect. So, it’s now completely nonfunctional. I’ll update this review if support ever gets back to me. Perhaps they are having an outage. Now it’s a general guide. Or like a manual schedule option. I don’t like how there isn’t a complete history for number of runs in a month or something like that. ### 2/5 — Too Bad Millie *2025-09-21* After months of debating on buying this, we finally made the move. All was well up until we attempted to set it up. Day 1: Downloaded the app, plugged Millie into outlet but never got it paired. Tried over and over until frustration got the best of me (4 hours) Day 2: Reset Millie, same result, unable to pair. 2nd try of Day 2, finally connected and went through steps of taking out the basket, once bucket adjusted and I set Dry & Grind for 9:00p, Millie was offline. (2 hours). Went through every troubleshooting process with no luck 🤯😏 ### 3/5 — Was happy until… *2025-11-18* The app stopped recognizing my login info. Funny how I have no issues logging in online with my login credentials but the app seems to stupid not to recognize it. My last attempt at composting ended up with a house full of fruit flies and a stinky bin next to the kitchen counter. Since getting the Mill we haven’t had one issue with smells or bugs. The process is quick and easy and using the app is so simple. I used to put food……in the trash. WHAT?? It was smelly. My bags were drippy. My trash filled up really fast, and I was always carrying bags to the basement. I had FRUIT FLIES Now I put all my scraps, all my expired food, and all of *my friends’* expired food into my Mill where I get to watch it magically transform into tasty chicken feed.
