### 2/5 — Almost Unreadable due to Ads

*2026-07-31, version 8.11.0*

Reading in the app has become almost unbearable due to ads popping up through scrolling. Ads open up in Safari or open the App Store, forcing you to close and go back to the JS online app. Nearing the point of canceling subscription.

### 2/5 — If I don’t have a paid subscription, why are almost all of my push notifications behind the paywall

*2026-07-08, version 8.10.2*

🙄

### 3/5 — J/S online

*2026-05-15, version 8.9.0*

Although I look forward to reading through the J/S online everyday to keep connected to the Milwaukee area’s news, I do find it a couple of days late on reporting news and also find articles repeated two, three sometimes four times. Seems like just filling space. Also, to be honest, media, including newspapers should report real news without bias. I find J/S to be VERY slanted liberal/left leaning everyday, with numerous articles by columnists going out of their way to find one negative about any positive item a conservative newsmaker is making. It’s SO obvious. Bring back REAL JOURNALISTIC REPORTING,PLEASE.

### 3/5 — Bias

*2026-04-17, version 8.9.0*

The biased runs deeper than ever, whether it’s what, who or how they cover the story. That said it’s still a useful digital purchase for spotty local coverage and plenty of opinion.

### 2/5 — Fair journalism

*2026-02-25, version 8.8.1*

Reporting is too much left leaning.

### 3/5 — Content Good. App is buggy and annoying.

*2026-02-12, version 8.6.0*

The app continuously hangs up when re-entering it, forcing a kill and restart. To get over this, set the location services to “Never” use. A daily splash Ad appears unexpectedly when reading an article asking to create an account which is bogus. I’m already a subscriber. Very annoying.

### 2/5 — Frustrating

*2026-02-09, version 8.6.0*

Please fix issue of when I open a specific article why after scrolling and reading, the content goes blank when it is obvious the article should continue. Just want to access what I am paying for!

### 3/5 — Milwaukee Journal Sentinel

*2026-02-09, version 8.6.0*

Hi, testing

### 4/5 — Like the idea but the app fails to deliver

*2026-02-05, version 8.6.0*

JSONLINE is clunky but improving.

### 3/5 — Declining performance

*2026-01-18, version 8.6.0*

The app used to take about 5 to 10 seconds to load the enewspaper. Now it takes at least a minute and chews up ~2% of the battery. Please undo whatever “improvement” was done and restore the previous performance.

### 4/5 — Proofread the final edition before it goes out?

*2026-01-13, version 8.6.0*

I’ve been a Journal Sentinel reader for years. Paper and online. Did y’all have a proofreader(s) on staff during your paper editions heyday?
Do your reporters or writers proofread their own stories? Maybe? Some days I need to push myself away from the table, get myself another cup of coffee, sit back down and tell myself, “You can do this.” “You can unravel this article.” Please ask your reporters/writers to take one last look at their stories before they hit the SEND button? Thanks for your time. Respectfully, Mike Jaroch

### 4/5 — Paper

*2026-01-07, version 8.6.0*

Enjoy the paper on line. The paper is easy to access no matter which form I choose to read.
About three weeks ago the game part of the app dropped down and some of the games can’t be played. When chatting with tech person about the problem they could not help.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — One of the worst apps I’ve experienced!

*2026-07-30, version 8.11.0*

Took forever to get the Review line to let me enter Review.

I’m logged into your app and can now see most news. Why does it still tell me that some stories are only available to subscribers? And why is it always sending a link to subscribe?

### 1/5 — Way too many advertisements

*2026-06-10, version 8.10.2*

Could be a good app, but as usual too many advertisers so you have to scroll through what seems like a 100 adds to get to one story. Sad

### 1/5 — App has become useless

*2026-04-18, version 8.9.0*

I’ve used this app for years without any issues, but over the last month or so, it’s become useless. Within a minute of opening, a MJS ad pops up, blocking the entire page, and I’m unable to close it. I tried deleting and reinstalling the app and it still happened. I only have a digital subscription. If the app isn’t fixed soon, I’m going to cancel it.

### 1/5 — Cannot see Pay Bill option from app

*2026-03-16, version 8.9.0*

From my computer I get a pay bill option. Where do I find this on the app

### 1/5 — Will not activate

*2026-03-05, version 8.8.1*

Signed up through Apple and I cannot activate it. Tried customer support but they blame Apple and Apple blames the App.

### 1/5 — No privacy opt out

*2026-02-10, version 8.6.0*

App does not let you opt out of targeting and other nonessential data use

### 1/5 — Widget in Liquid Glass doesn’t work

*2026-01-25, version 8.6.0*

Please fix it

### 1/5 — Isn’t getting better

*2026-01-25, version 8.6.0*

App used to be pretty easy, open app and scroll down to see many articles. Now you have to dig by section or other methods. I constantly get links back to stories on site from Google search page I didn’t see on the Journal site. Newest aggravation is the constant popups to subscribe when I am already a subscriber. Check settings and it shows I’m signed in. Really needs an overhaul.

Update 3/25/23…
This app is horrible on iPad. Open and main page will let you scroll 5 rows of stories and then flicker and flash. Only way to see more stories is to go section by section which is tedious. Also constantly get pop ups to subscribe when I’m already a subscriber. If you open USA Today’s app which is on the same platform no problem, scroll all you want. Please fix the issues on this.

### 1/5 — My opinion

*2026-01-19, version 8.6.0*

This is a VERY liberal sided “paper””
If there was any other App that covered local news or sports , I would DEFINITELY be on it !!! And now to make it even worse. The only “ news” posted is from about 3 days ago. C’mon JSonline , DO BETTER!!

Michael

### 1/5 — Useless app

*2025-12-24, version 8.6.0*

There’s no way to suspend delivery, or if there is, it’s so obscure I couldn’t fine it. There is an option to cancel the subscription, however, and I came very close to doing that,

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — MJS App

*2026-06-18, version 8.10.2*

I recently started reading the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel and I am pleased with the depth of coverage from local to world news. The app is easy to navigate and I will continue to explore its features.

### 5/5 — JSO

*2026-05-11, version 8.9.0*

Is a great, well written paper!

### 5/5 — Quality News

*2026-03-31, version 8.9.0*

I enjoy getting quality, thorough news delivered through an app where it doesn’t keep me endlessly scrolling.

### 5/5 — Great local newspaper

*2026-02-08, version 8.6.0*

I am so pleased that still have such a great local newspaper in Milwaukee. It is very important to have such a resource.

### 5/5 — I’m happy that I tried it.

*2026-01-27, version 8.6.0*

I was wary of trying this new version of reading the newspaper, but I found it’s been pretty easy to maneuver between pages, easy to read, and I’m able to print the puzzles I love in the green sheet. YAY! All in all, I’m pleasantly surprised. I’m in my mid 70’s, and I found it very easy to read on my iPad after a little bit of “trial and error”learning.

### 5/5 — Good online enewspaper format

*2026-01-10, version 8.6.0*

I really enjoy the daily enewspaper format. I can look at it like a paper but click into stories to read the font bigger.

### 5/5 — Embracing the old school

*2026-01-10, version 8.6.0*

Great place for loco news in an old-school format

### 5/5 — I’m happy that I tried it.

*2026-01-09, version 8.6.0*

### 5/5 — Newspaper

*2026-01-04, version 8.6.0*

Being able to read the news in a newspaper format is fantastic. I hate the click bait format that has become the standard. Don’t lose the history of the newspaper in order to keep up w the millennials.

### 5/5 — Milwaukee Journal Sentinel

*2025-12-28, version 8.6.0*

I enjoy your MJ newspaper very much! Well organized, very good sports & general news Articles! Thank you for a job well done! Regards, Bernie Ostrenga
