### 4/5 — Latest update crashes.

*2026-05-22, version 1.8.2*

It just crashes at opening. Can’t use.

### 4/5 — Für einen fünften Stern fehlen Features

*2026-05-11, version 1.7.0*

Soweit, so gut. VoiceBoost, TrimSilence … alles vorhanden.

### 4/5 — This app ticks a lot of boxes

*2025-10-15*

It's very intuitive and clean to use. Nice drag and drop support on the MacOS version really helps manage the queuing and playlist management. It also handles downloading by cleanly putting the files into a folder you can access. This makes it easy to load up a flash drive for older cars that don’t have CarPlay. It works on MacBooks all the way back to MacOS 11 and on IOS as old as 15. I have a mix of new and old hardware and most other Podcast apps expect you to have nearly new hardware and most assume you are streaming everything.

### 3/5 — why can’t I see an episode description but only the title?

*2025-09-20, version 1.9.0*

feature request

### 4/5 — :))

*2024-08-21, version 1.8.3*

:))

### 4/5 — a very small feature idea

*2024-07-21*

Coming from old iTunes-based podcast listening. I use a non-Apple mp3 player (I don't carry a phone, long story). Since Apple's Podcast app is so over-simplified and user-hostile, and its display of information is so graphic based (I prefer dense text), I gravitated quickly to Mimir. I've only used it three times, but so far so gool

Suggestion: I'd like to restrict the display of recent episodes of each podcast, to say, the ten most recent. This lets me focus on relevant items, yet still maintains high density of information.

Thanks for the app! I'm considering upgrading to Pro, but want to use it a while longer.

### 5/5 — Great podcast player!

*2024-04-01, version 1.8.3*

I've used Mimir for about a month, and it's a great player with a lot of usability advantages.

### 5/5 — This app siftRSS is podcast perfection

*2024-03-24, version 1.8.3*

leaving a review, please make the pop-up go away. love this app though.

### 5/5 — Beyond amazing - Perfect Podcast App

*2024-03-16, version 1.4.3*

This app is not only beautiful but feature rich.

- Play order/sort can be set per podcast not globally, love this
- CarPlay, love this
- Custom them colours, love this
- Auto downloads, love this
- Available on all my devices, love this

I would be lost without this app

### 5/5 — guter iTunes Ersatz

*2024-02-17, version 1.8.3*

Da es das alte iTunes nicht mehr gibt, suchte ich einen guten Podcatcher.
Mit Mimir habe ich nun eine gute Alternative zu iTunes gefunden.
Sehr Empfehlenswert !

### 5/5 — Great if you listen to many shows

*2023-11-30*

I've been looking for an iOS replacement for Podcast Addict for years and this is by far the closest. It's a bit feature-light but I haven't seen any bugs yet and the "groups" feature is exactly what I wanted: an easy way to organize my dozens of subscriptions.

### 5/5 — Mimir, the one to rule them all

*2023-09-22*

… or at lease make listening to podcasts and managing playlists much easier. I appreciate how easily I can create a queue of episodes on one platform and then pick it up on another.

### 5/5 — At last, a return to normal!

*2023-09-12, version 1.8.1*

Podcasts are supposed to be a beautifully open format. You download an MP3 via an RSS feed, and you listen to it. Apple's default app is becoming more like Spotify -- trying to change the experience into a walled garden. In the process of becoming too fancy, the UI of Apple's app has made it impossible to do simple operations such as select a large number of episodes to mark them as played. Mimir is the cure -- a totally normal experience. Everything acts as expected. You can edit the "played" status of large numbers of episodes, and you can even ask to view the MP3 file of an episode in the Finder. A totally smooth experience with no hiccups so far. Thanks for the great app!

### 3/5 — Continued Bugginess Holds Mimir Back

*2023-07-01*

I really like the layout and design of the Mimir app. Unfortunately it continues to have bugs that make it a less-than-ideal experience.

For example, when opening the app in CarPlay, the “Now Playing “ app often won’t play; a work-around that sometimes works is to manually play the next podcast episode, than go back. Another example: when managing podcast episodes (especially if you’re managing several at a time), the player interface may freeze momentarily or not reflect your changes. This often necessitates restarting Mimir. All of the little quirks together add up to an often frustrating experience.

Finally, I like the recent swipe interface changes to play next/last, and Mark as played/remove from playlist. That said, I’d like to see that expanded to the Now Playing/Next screen instead of only being accessible within each individual podcast.

### 5/5 — Excellent app

*2023-06-10, version 1.8.1*

I use it to download podcast onto an MP3 player. It's easy to use.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Lack of 26.6 functionality

*2026-06-22, version 1.8.4*

I am using an iPhone 16 Pro Max with the 26.6 Public Beta, and the app will not load. While I appreciate the update released today, 6/22/026, it doesn’t seem to have fixed the app loading issue.

### 1/5 — Lack of 26.6 functionality

*2026-06-18, version 1.8.3*

The app will not work with 26.6

### 1/5 — A paradoxical approach

*2026-05-20*

It is hard to understand why someone would upgrade from a version that works very well to one that works very poorly.

**Developer response:** Hi, I've updated the app to fix the rare crashes that might have been affecting you. Please let me know if the new version still has issues by emailing support@mimirpodcasts.app

### 1/5 — Untrustworthy

*2024-10-17, version 1.4.4*

I’ve had episodes I haven’t listened to marked as played. I’ve had podcasts I’ve subscribed to disappear. I want to like the app but I just don’t trust it to manage things.

### 1/5 — Search crashes on iOS 18

*2024-09-17, version 1.4.3*

Whenever a podcast is searched for in the Discover page, the app crashes. Additionally, in the regular podcast page, typed text is not visible.

### 1/5 — Setapp Activated: Not Working At All :/

*2022-10-29, version 1.0.3*

I’ve installed the app from US App Store, used vpn, activated through Setapp, and checked all of the settings… By some reason, I see China as a chosen region without an option to change it (yes, physically I am here), but I do need to change it. Discover tab shows no episodes. Simply nothing works. Any way to use the app?

### 1/5 — App crashes while importing OPML file

*2022-06-24, version 1.4.4*

title

### 1/5 — Shut offs

*2021-09-27, version 1.4.3*

WHY, why, why, does my macbook air shut down during a podcast, forcing me to sign again, and taking my attention away from my work???

### 2/5 — Unzuverlässig

*2023-01-29, version 1.1.1*

Mein Lieblingspodcasts wird nicht richtig heruntergeladen. Das Play- und Pause-Symbol flackern. Der Podcast bleibt stumm. Andere Player haben keine Probleme.

### 2/5 — Great in theory, but simply doesn’t work

*2022-08-28, version 1.0.3*

As much as I love the recommendation system, I have a hard time just getting a podcast to play. Then, when I return to listen later, the app has often lost my place where I left off. Nailing the basics of making a podcast client that can actually play podcasts needs to come before the other bells and whistles.

- Vocal boost feature doesn’t work
- episode downloads/deletes are not customizable
- buffering and lagging is constant
- unable to play any episodes when I open the app sometimes
- import from podcasts app doesn’t work

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Got to admit it’s getting better all the time!

*2025-09-29*

I’ve been a pocket casts user for a decade now. I keep coming back to check on Mimir’s development. I can finally say that I’m now making the switch.

What I love:
• Cross platform sync via iCloud.
• The CarPlay interface is excellent.
• Podcast and episode management just feels right, unlike most apps out there.
• Silence skip actually works well.
• Can mark a whole podcast or category as played.

Dreams:
• Streaming episodes without downloading, especially on macOS.
• Mark episode as played from CarPlay now playing screen.

### 5/5 — Best way to organise podcasts

*2025-08-09, version 1.5.1*

I tried out loads of podcast apps, and this won easily in the nice grouping of podcasts.
The silence skip and ability to have settings per podcast makes it even more powerful.
Use it a lot, and in the car with CarPlay too

### 5/5 — 5 stars, but…

*2025-03-22*

Definitely 5 stars for iPhone - which is the drive I use Mimir the most. Syncing content with other devices can be tricky. Still the best player I’ve used so far.

### 5/5 — Great! — One small suggestion ...

*2024-12-30*

Love this app ... it's now my go-to for all my podcasts.

One request: Could you add some shorter intervals for the sleep timer? 5, 10, 15 minutes would be very useful for falling asleep without burning too much of the podcast.

### 5/5 — Best podcast app

*2024-11-24, version 1.4.4*

I have come to a conclusion this has to be the best podcast app for iOS and macOS desktop app. It sync really well and also it has a beautiful design only negative I have to write would be continues play, could a bit more easy to enable I hope the developer will maybe make that easier to enable.

### 5/5 — Perfect if you listen on an MP3 player

*2024-11-05*

I recently got an MP3 player, and spent hours trying to find an easy way to automatically download new episodes of podcasts I listen to as mp3 files, so that I could easily transfer them to my device. Finally, I found this app and it is perfect!

### 5/5 — Migliore app per podcast!

*2024-09-12, version 1.4.3*

L’ho provata perché l’abbonamento è incluso con SetApp. Non c’è paragone con Apple Podcast, Spreaker o Spotify… riproduzione continua, controllo della velocità, skip dei momenti di silenzio.

### 5/5 — My favorite

*2024-09-08, version 1.8.3*

This is my favorite podcast app, I tried many but this is perfect for my taste and usage. I like the straightforward features and it has better layout than apple podcast. other podcasts layout is too confusing too me. but Mimir just hit the middle ground in features and simplicity.

### 5/5 — Bien

*2024-09-01*

J’aime bien, présentation plus sobre que l’application native iOS.
Synchro cloud dispo
Fonctionne bien sur mon ancien Mac 2015, alors que ce dernier n’arrivait pas à lire certains podcasts auparavant

### 5/5 — Fantastic find

*2024-05-02*

This is a gem hidden amongst the big podcast players. I love the 0-100 priority feature and the fact it’ll use my old man large system fonts setting. ❤️❤️❤️
