## What is Mind the Farm?

Mind the Farm — Smart Farm Assistant

Mind the Farm is the farm management app built for homesteaders and small livestock operations. You talk to it in plain English, and it handles the record-keeping.

Say "Bella was bred to Duke on March 5th" and it logs the record, calculates the due date, and sets a reminder. Say "vaccinate all the goats today" and every health record writes itself. No forms. No clicking through menus.

What it does:

• AI-powered chat assistant that understands your animals by name
• Health records, vaccinations, and deworming schedules with automatic reminders
• Breeding records and full pedigree/lineage charts
• Task management and farm calendar
• Invoicing, Stripe payments, and litter waitlists for breeders
• Crop tracking, garden plans, harvest logs, and soil tests
• Grazing rotation and pasture management
• Feed, supply, equipment, and medication inventory
• Farmer marketplace — buy and sell animals backed by real health records
• Farmer community — forums, direct messages, and a verified farmer network

Supports 13 species:
Cattle · Goats · Dogs · Sheep · Poultry · Swine · Rabbits · Horses · Llamas · Alpacas · Camels · Cats · Pets

Plus crops and gardens.

Free forever for up to 2 species. No credit card required.

Built by Russell Hudson, a farmer and software engineer who runs The Hudstead in Great Falls, SC. Every feature exists because it solved a real problem on a real working farm.

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 1.1.17 — 2026-08-23

What’s New in 1.1.17

Festivals & markets got a brain. Set a traffic multiplier and the app forecasts your revenue and turns it into a packing list — what to take, what’s in the warehouse, and what to make more of. The list prints, and it lands in your email four days before each event, while there’s still time to pour more soap. Event weather now comes from the festival’s own address, not your farm’s, and the county fills itself in from the address too.

Reviews earn coupons. Customers who leave a review get a coupon they can spend on your website or hand you at a stall. Print the review page’s QR code on a card and drop it in the bag. Reviews, Coupons, and Print Labels are all in the app now.

Sales tax, handled. Every sale is tracked by county with food exemptions applied, and the quarterly report can email itself to your accountant on the first of the month.

Selling in person is clearer. Offline Sales tells card from cash and food from not, filters by more than one channel or product at a time, and shows the tax inside every total.

The mileage tracker rides along. Log trips from the app — speak them if your hands are full.

Steadier sync. Tasks no longer double up after a conflict, undoing a task works, deletions on the web disappear from the phone, and the product picker shows everything it should. The task calendar is fixed, supports drag-to-reschedule, and dates follow your farm’s timezone.

### 1.1.16 — 2026-08-11

Mileage tracker

Farm trips now live in the app. Log a run to the feed store or the vet,
and the year's total and Schedule F deduction sit right at the top. Round
trips count both ways.

Tasks

• Drag a task onto another day to move it — press and hold, then drop.
• Tasks due further out than a week, and tasks with no date at all, have
their own headings. Before this they saved and then turned up nowhere.
• Tasks are dated by your farm's clock instead of the server's, so one
added in the evening lands on today where it belongs.
• A task due today no longer shows up marked Overdue.
• The calendar button works again.
• Clear everything overdue in two taps from the Overdue heading.
• Pick several tasks at once to finish, move or hand off.

Markets on your calendar

Festivals & Markets gives you a private link you can subscribe to from
Google Calendar, Apple Calendar or Outlook. Booth number, arrival time
and who to call come along with each one.

Fixes

• Missing icons on the sign-in and Farm Assistant screens.
• Adding an animal no longer crashes.
• Finishing the same task twice no longer jams the sync queue.
• Sign in is easier to find on the welcome screen.

### 1.1.15 — 2026-08-05

Misc bug fixes

### 1.1.14 — 2026-07-28

Festivals & Markets — Plan your whole season in one place. Track every festival, market, and fair from "thinking about it" through applied, accepted, and confirmed. Set an application deadline and it turns into a reminder task automatically, so you never miss a cutoff.

Season Calendar — See your entire year at a glance. Each event shows as a color-coded bar by status, with application deadlines flagged so nothing sneaks up on you.

Also in this release:
• Attach applications, permits, and maps right to each festival
• Set festivals to repeat each year — next season's entry is ready without re-typing the details
• Record what you actually earned and how busy each event was, so you can see which festivals are worth going back to
• Fixed a calendar crash in the mobile app

Thanks for farming with us. Have an idea? We'd love to hear it.

### 1.1.13 — 2026-07-21

New: Stock by Location. See every product's count at each store, and update it right from the barn or the booth. Stock you send to a store draws down from home — no double counting.
Add barcodes to your products from your phone.
Sales totals now show your real revenue — collected sales tax stays out of the numbers.
Fixed gender options for sheep, cattle, goats, pigs, rabbits, and horses.
Text alerts: pick exactly which farm events text you.
Bug fixes for storefront product editing.
