It is there when you start out, and any time afterwards on the word map. Translations fill themselves in: a word we have no entry for is translated when you confirm it, and you can edit any of them or ask again. Until now a new card could sit without a review date, so the app showed nothing to study on the very day you built your deck. Anki import. Fields are matched by what the deck calls them, so a card shows the word and its meaning rather than whatever happened to come first.
