## What is Mindfulness?

The official App based on the international bestselling book Mindfulness: Finding Peace in a Frantic World by Oxford University’s Professor Mark Williams and Dr Danny Penman.

THE EASY TO FOLLOW PROGRAMME INSPIRED BY THE LIFE-CHANGING BESTSELLER MINDFULNESS: FINDING PEACE IN A FRANTIC WORLD
TRACK AND REVIEW YOUR PROGRESS TO A HAPPIER LIFE
Life can be relentless, frantic and exhausting – but it doesn’t have to be this way.
Mindfulness: Frantic World reveals a set of simple yet powerful practices that can be incorporated into daily life to help break the cycle of unhappiness, stress, anxiety and mental exhaustion, and promote genuine joie de vivre. By investing just a few minutes each day, you can you can be back in control and able to enjoy life again.
The free app includes the first week of the eight-week mindfulness programme included in the life-changing bestseller Mindfulness: Finding Peace in a Frantic World, so that you too can try the programme which has helped millions of readers already. The full, easy-to-follow programme is available as an in-app purchase.
Mindfulness focuses on promoting joy and peace rather than banishing unhappiness. It’s precisely focused to help ordinary people boost their happiness and confidence levels whilst also reducing anxiety, stress and irritability.
This app is based on Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT). MBCT revolves around a straightforward form of mindfulness meditation which takes just a few minutes a day for the full benefits to be revealed. MBCT has been clinically proven to be at least as effective as drugs for depression and it is recommended by the UK's National Institute of Clinical Excellence – in other words, it works. More importantly it also works for people who are not depressed but who are struggling to keep up with the constant demands of the modern world.

### 3/5 — Outdated but still useful

*2025-10-11*

I hunted high and low to find a way to listen to the meditations on my phone. Fortunately found the app; however, despite really appreciating being able to listen easily now, the quality of the app is quite poor. The user interface is underdeveloped in my opinion. It’s not intuitive or attractive especially as the app costs £3.99. It doesn’t seem to record sessions accurately as some days it captures the fact I’ve done two sessions and other days it doesn’t. It feels as if this app is in need of some refreshing and updating. That said, I still think it’s worth paying for as the meditations are very helpful.

### 5/5 — Simply delightful … 🙏

*2024-10-08*

This app accompanies the book and is a wonderful way to build a mindful practice through the 8-week course. Simple to use and full of insights. My only bit of feedback for the developers would be that the practice tracker sometimes get stuck, but simply closing the app and reopening it overcame this and I was credited with meditations I sat. I suffer with anxiety and by week 3 I was feeling much better…. Thank you … 🙏

### 4/5 — So far, so good

*2024-09-17*

I was dubious that this app would still work (based on previous reviews) but it seems to be for me! I like the fact that the programme is mapped out so I can just fire up the app and get on with the programme! I literally have no excuse for not getting on with it now 😁

### 2/5 — Love this app BUT (updated review)

*2021-04-09*

Since the last update a couple of days ago the 30 minute timer has stopped ringing 3 bells for preparation time and then after a couple of minutes the app stops working. Very frustrating ! Have sent several messages via the contact form but no response. Have spent so long trying to rectify the problem haven’t had time to try the guided meditations but the timer is my daily go to. Would be great if someone could get back to me if not will have to look for another app which would be a shame.

Team got back to me after leaving above review but then stopped communicating after a couple of attempts to sort the problem when nothing was successful.

Shame as will have to look for a differnt app now.

### 5/5 — Great app to support the book

*2021-01-14*

I have been involved with groups for a few years that use FInding Peace in a Frantic World as a book study course to introduce mindfulness. I wd recommend having both the book and the app. The app supports all the info in the book and it’s so convenient to have the meditations on a device rather than playing the cd each time you want to do the practices (esp if you are away from your normal surroundings). However if you’re not a book person, the app does cover the essentials of the 8 week course with lots of precious nuggets of advice.

### 5/5 — I deleted this app for more space on iPad...

*2021-01-07*

...and got it back new and improved! I was taught by Ruchiraketu at Cambridge Buddhist Centre (UK) Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction in 2007 and 2017. He encouraged us to return to the centre should we need to. Brilliant! I will now be using this app daily to “weave my parachute” as we were taught on the course. If I got into a tight space and needed instant calm I’d then have the very best methods (in combination with yoga) at my disposal

### 4/5 — Has helped for anxiety

*2020-12-28*

I have had an anxiety condition for a long time and have tried several treatments including hypnosis and yoga and have found this App has helped my anxiety the most out of the treatments mentioned, it’s not a cure, I don’t think you can rely on this solely for anxiety but if you do the meditations once in the morning, 2x 3 minute breathing spaces and a slightly longer practice in the evening you should see some benefit.

### 4/5 — App no longer working!!

*2020-10-14*

I don’t normally write reviews however after successfully using this app for the past 7 months it no longer works! The app is brilliant , it is simple to use and a useful tool to start a mindfulness journey. Sadly since the last update on my iPhone the app no longer works. This is very annoying and frustrating as I paid for the full version. It starts in the normal way so you are lulled into thinking it’s working then, after a minute or to it just stops . I’ve tried the suggested fixes to no avail.
Could we please have a proper fix for this problem !

### 5/5 — Great meditation poor app

*2020-09-09*

Meditation are great but after updating phone could only access the first week having paid for the full access. No reply from technical support and cannot even download and pay again now, not that I should have to. Really disappointing product as was finding meditations so useful for mental health.

### 5/5 — I keep coming back

*2020-08-21*

My wife introduced me to Mindfulness five years ago, it helped me through a very difficult period post surgery
I come back to it on an irregular basis, sometime doing one off meditations and I did the six week workbook programme a couple of years ago.
This app is the best of all the programmes and it reminds me of how powerful a tool the mind is. I am currently in the middle of week three and it is so helpful in terms of staying grounded and in the moment
As I get older I find the need for this help and input more necessary to lead a fulfilling life
I have a daily -physical exercise routine and an amazing personal trainer twice a week. I ignore the need to support my mental well-being at my peril
