Utilizing technology to make meditation 'easy' is a huge step in expanding our world. I love the variety of settings and configurations. Thank you. *2017-04-29, version 3.4* The first version's hardware worked well, but had quirks like a USB - 2 pin charge cord and a tiny slider to turn it on. Those are gone, replaced with USB-micro. The case includes the glasses, a retractable USB-micro in a hardy shell. This puppy is wireless working with iPhones and the app. I use it for jet lag from long intercontinental flights and to recharge myself with a quick nap/meditation when I'm dragging. While this system doesn't work for everyone, it will come as a huge relief to many. The included programs are varied enough to help a wide range of personal concerns from those mentioned to superlearning and other relaxation interests. The basic product has come a long ways over the years. The underlying science of brainwave patterns and entrainment to mimic healthful patterns is solid. ### 5/5 — Love the app and light glasses *2016-07-04, version 3.4* I tried out the app for a couple of weeks. I like the programs and the manual options. I liked the app so much that I decided to buy the BT light glasses. No wires! Yeah! The glasses are worth the cost and really supports a great meditative state. Great job with this one. This is my 4th AVS and it is by far the best. So on my iPad I know have my meditation selections on iTunes and my AVS programmer. Love it. Did I mention no wires! Very happy customer. ### 5/5 — No Wires comfort! Worked perfect before ios9 update *2015-09-17, version 3.3* What a great time to look for new gear. This was nice to find after owning various gear since the mid 90s. Hopefully the bt bug with the glasses connection crashing the app will be fixed quickly. As long as the glasses are off the app still works for the audio side. Something changed with bt auto pairing and ios9. ### 5/5 — Excellent! *2015-06-14, version 3.3* I am a long time user of the PR2-X AVS system by Mind Gear who recently purchased the new AVS wireless mindLightz glasses in February. Since then, I have been using them and the mindLightz app every day, it is one of the few apps that I can say I actually use on a daily basis, sometimes more than once. The convenience of both the wireless glasses and headphones controlled by my iPhone is unparalleled. Features such as being able to layer my own audio files over the binaural beats and the ability to control the color schemes of the 500 color RGB LEDs allow me the ability to personalize my experience. Finally, the most important aspect of the product, besides the quality, is the superior customer service I have received since originally doing business with the company nearly 15 years ago. I highly recommend this product for both new and experienced AVS users. ### 5/5 — Outstanding ! *2015-04-30, version 3.1* I wish to thank you : the new version of MindLightz works very fine. As I use your glasses many times a week, I was really glad to plug them again in my iPad ! However, the way you managed the recent problem with the update of MingLightz desserves congratulations. I worked as a strategic advisor for CEO’s of big corporations for many years, and I must say that you understood a very important concept : the way a company deals with a problem is much more important than the problem itself. Your frequent emails during the « MindLightz Blackout « shows that you master the best ways to manage important problems that could frustrate your customers. There are many light and sound systems on the market, but your company have always demonstrated that innovation is a way of life ! So, I will be loyal to outstanding innovation and communication ! A great mind machine for relaxation and mind enhancement! ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — Destroys phone *2017-01-08, version 3.4* It seemed to log into someone else's iTunes account, and played someone else's music that I've never heard before and that is not on my phone. I had to re-log into my account and got an error message saying I could not do something or other for 90 days, something about logging into different accounts. I was trying to just get it to play the tones, but I kept hearing music I've never heard before I have no idea how it got on to my phone I didn't ask for it and I don't want it. I just wanted to hear the tones this app is supposed to make. It's possible that I misunderstood something, but I switched off any access to my music. And yet I kept hearing music rather than the tones this was supposed to make, I don't know how it happened or where comes from. ### 1/5 — Good Start, needs work *2015-04-21, version 3.0* 04/20/2015 - Update Latest version crashes perpetually whenever I plug in the iLightz dongle on my iPhone 6 Plus. Old version worked no problem. Tried running with dongle already plugged in, tried inserting dongle after running the program...same result, immediate crash back to home screen. I am using an official Apple 30pin to lightning adapter which worked just fine on the old version app. Could be combo iOS 8.3 + new App version...don't know...but it is useless now until fixed... ******** I have been a Light&Sound Brainwave Entrainment enthusiast for about 20 years now, and was very excited to find Mind Gear's "iLightz 2" iOS device dongle recently become available. The HW comes in at a reasonable price point ($200 w/o Bluetooth Headphones/$249 with bluetooth headphones included). Needless to say, when I found this product, I hopped on board and purchased one immediately. This program goes along with Mind Gear's "iLightz 2" dongle, which is designed for iOS devices with the old 30pin connector. The dongle provides a connection to Mind Gear's LED Glasses, which allow for in sync Brainwave entrainment via Light (LED Glasses) and Sound (Blue Tooth Headphones). The iLights 2 HW works very well on both my iPhone 4 and my iPad 3. (I can't speak to how well/if it will work with the new lightning connector w/adapter, as I don't have a new iPad 4, iPhone 5, or latest iPod to test.) I had been waiting for a very long time for somebody to make just such a product, where the LED glasses could connect to an iOS device via dongle, and the software/HW used to run the Entrainment programs would reside as an App on iOS. This product fits the bill. The previous best / closest I've found is the "Attractor" app by Dataca Corp, here in the App Store. "Attractor" is an entrainment app that allows you to create your own programs by setting the start frequency, target Entrainment frequency, and Program duration time. It then ramps the entrainment based on those variables to hit your target frequency, stay there for a period of time, and then ramps back up to the end of program time. In addition to binaural/pulse entrainment, "Attractor" also allows you to add in an Audio file from your Music/iTunes library, and have that play in the back ground. The cool thing is you can pick a Mediation or Hypnosis audio file, note the time of the file and then setup an "Attractor" program based on the length of Audio File. On a half-hour or 40min Hypnosis or Meditation file, "Attractor" will get you to your intended (set) Target Frequency over about 10min from start, stay there, and then ramp you back over the last 10min of the program. Finally, "Attractor" also includes a "Strobe" function to flash the iDevice screen in time with your program, in an effort to provide the "light" of the "Light & Sound" entrainment experience. However, resting an iPhone over your eyes becomes rather uncomfortable after awhile, and so the iLightz 2 dongle & LED glasses are a MUCH better solution. Which brings me to the iLightz program/App. I wish it was programable like "Attractor". In the current SW, you have a choice of 83 preset programs, or (alternatively) you can use "manual" mode. "Manual" mode is simply where you set the frequency, sound, and light parameters "manually", and there is NO Entrainment ramp. Mind Gear REALLY needs to address this, to allow for end-user full custom Entrainment programs. Following the "Attractor" App paradigm for doing so would be the intuitive thing to do. The iLightz program does allow you to play an Audio file in the background, but you have no way to tailor the iLightz program to your audio file. This is because you are stuck with 83 preset Mind Gear programs which have their own intent/purpose, or you must use the manual mode on one set frequency. So far I've tried several of the Mind Gear built-in programs, and they are OK. Sometimes they don't ramp you back up to Beta Wave, but they ARE effective at altering your Brainwave state. Hopefully MInd Gear will read this, and move towards allowing the programing customization I mention. This is key. I would even like to see Mind Gear and Dataca Corp come to some agreement/arrangement to incorporate the iLightz 2 dongle function into "Attractor". In any event, if you want an iOS controlled LED Glasses/goggles Light & Sound Entrainment experience, then AFAIK, iLightz (with iLightz 2 dongle) is the only game in town at the moment. ### 1/5 — FABULOUS!! I love the new wireless interface, and can use the unit anywhere… over 80 programs, too! *2015-04-16, version 2.4.8* AVS (Audio Visual Stimulation) technology has been a part of my professional practice for over ten years because of the results it produces results in so many areas of life, from falling asleep easily to eliminating the feelings of stress and anxiety that come with a full life. I have personally used the technology since 1996. When I initially tried out this specific unit, I was astounded by the ease of use and accessibility for customizing the programs, along with the elegant and sleek red and black bluetooth headphones (NO WIRES!) and goggles. I love the headphones and have many uses for them outside of the AVS sessions I use them for. These goggles are the best in the field, in my opinion, especially with the optional Ganzfeld effect, and they come with many options to customize one's experience. This takes the AVS experience to the next level by creating an easy-to-use brain entrainment tool with fewer complications. I like the interface, too- very user friendly. I encourage all my clients to purchase the new iLightz unit and I use my own unit nearly every day. This was helpful when I sustained a brain injury not too long ago- it really did put me back on the 'map' after only two sessions and has made a huge difference in my memory and recovery. I swear by it and have been doing research on how to use this kind of technology for many years now. If you want to sharpen up your memory, increase your I.Q., have more creative moments, and truly take charge of your ability to learn, this is your tool! Thank you for making this available to everyone, Mind-Gear!! ### 2/5 — Can’t add music *2023-09-23, version 3.10* I’ve installed the app on an iPad Air 3rd generation, iOS 16.7, and it just doesn’t see any of my music. That’s sort of a fatal flaw. Also the instructions are a little vague, or maybe just dated? They mention connecting to an iPod. Do they even still have those? ### 2/5 — What has happened to my previous purchases for this app’s predecessor? *2021-03-17, version 3.10* Between the time of my initial purchase of the goggles and finding this updated app (with new name and control panel) I made many purchases of program which were contained or stored in the previous app’s inner-working, what has happened to those purchases? Will they be available in the new app? If not, am I just out of luck to use those previous programs and lose the money I invested for these purposes? Additionally, my previous registration and email sign-up did not give me any indication that the app had changed or that other entities became the lead source for information. I only found this out when I went to Deepak Chopra dreamweaver.com and found the information they’re not the best model but at least I have no access to using the goggles once again. Thank you ### 2/5 — Aggravation! *2018-12-21, version 3.9* This app is ALMOST perfect, but the flaw I see is almost enough to make me uninstall the app. In settings, there is the option to set the default settings of manual, unfortunately, The “iPod volume” does not stay. This is especially problematic when I am coupling this app with other audio sources. I turn on my audio source, then I turn on this app and it turned my volume to maximum busting my eardrums because I’m trying to get ready for sleep and everything is nice and quiet except this freaking app which makes whatever else I’m listening to maximum volume almost every single time. If not for this Flaw I would probably rating at four or five stars. ### 2/5 — non-functional app *2015-05-01, version 3.1* After the new update is stil broken aplkikace !!!! ### 3/5 — App needs work *2017-02-25, version 3.4* The app allows you to test the various programs with your headphones and the programs work without glasses, just not as effective. But for some reason the app sometimes manages to play music from iTunes even if that is turned off in the app and in iTunes: annoying! Also, the app stops when you switch to an other app, it should continue. Last, the app needs a visual overhaul to look and act in line with modern iOS user interface. Good thing is, you can see a graph for each program, how it moves through the frequencies. ### 4/5 — Good even without lights but *2015-12-01, version 3.4* I don't have the light glasses (someday!) but IMO this app works great for brain wave entrainment with just sound. I appreciate the ability to use binaural beats OR pulse (isochronic tones) for program, and ability to use preset sounds or iPod tunes. Has nice charts to show spectrum of each program sounds. I was a college student at the time with a crazy work and school schedule. From the moment the attendant turned on the machine I was hooked. My settings were for study focus with beach waves as background sound with binaural beats and G note pitch for 30 minutes. That session not only soothed my agitated nerves but I left feeling like I’d actually been on a stress-free vacation. Over the years and as the technology became more available to the public, I studied the science of brainwave manipulation and bought devices to use at home. Then came MindLightz and I am so happy for its ease of use, personal programming and performance. I use it to help keep me ‘tuned up’, especially during this period of COVID insecurity. I use this along with professional psychological counseling, medications and journaling to manage my mindset and depression. I’ve always hoped to find that ‘magic’ effect that would really make a dramatic difference with respect to altering my awareness. In my experience, the best I could hope for was the binaural sounds to lull me to sleep. *This* app, in combination with the LED glasses and headphones, is the awareness tool I’ve been looking for. Outstanding. I haven’t been awakened to Nirvana or been able to levitate, but just by staying aware during the various light/binaural programs, I find that in the short time I’ve been using the app, I’ve been able to reach very deep states of awareness. The result of that is that I’ve been able effect some changes with respect to some of my more stubborn habits. Changes I’d like to see in the app are the ability to not have to go back into the Music/Effect screen each time I use any of the myriad programs and have to toggle the music off. The solo binaural sounds are just fine for me. Also, the app seems to default to my iTunes alphabetical song list.
