In the world of “subscription” based app purchases, Mindly stands out by offering a one time payment at a cheap cost for what the app can do (seriously, you all should charge more haha). It is a great app and I love it. On some updates I would love to see: 1. Higher resolution on the picture bubbles 2. The ability to add notes to picture bubbles 3. Full color picking capabilities instead of preset colors Once again, wonderful app! ### 4/5 — Great App with limitations *2020-12-11, version 1.38* I do love this app. It’s fantastic for mind mapping and I use it to present ideas too. But what it offers is exactly what I needed to organize my thoughts and help with planning. It’s elegantly structured and easy to use. Mindly Plus made the task fun and colorful, presenting larger concepts and systems in a new and unique manner. I could draft from my iPhone and continue after transferring to my iPad. I look forward to customizable color palettes, more instantaneous cloud usage, and hyperlinks-tags that allow for alternate organizations of ideas otherwise unconnected by parent-child relationships in their original lineages. ### 4/5 — Good app with potential to be great *2019-08-08* I use this to study different subjects, and this is by far a useful but I thought it would be a cool idea to be able to highlight words different colors. And even give the option to be able to give the circle a picture instead of just a color. Just a couple ideas 💡 ### 4/5 — Just one thing missing. *2019-08-07, version 1.34* Love this app, it’s intuitive, clean, and makes organizing massive projects a breeze. I really want to give this app 5 stars, but there’s a single baffling design decision that stops me. This app works by visualizing large amounts of data, and COLOR is a huge facet of visualization. However, the color selection is aesthetically unpleasing and also very limited. Why not let us pick from a full color wheel? Save our own custom colors via hex code? Even more pages of preset colors would be an improvement. Re-using colors severely limits the ability to color-code large projects effectively, especially if specific colors might directly correlate to a certain dataset. ### 5/5 — A very simple but fun app *2019-07-16* It does limit what you can do, yet if it’s what you want to do, it’s not only quite charming and fun but very practical. I particularly like putting the wheel into the corner and spinning it (much like you do with color pallates in some of the better art apps). I treat this app like more of a toy than the more extensive outliner apps and would consider standard mind mappers a more extensive option, but this app is fully capable and runs well. It’s quick to understand, and brings with it a certain charm I’ve not found in any other app. You can genuinely brainstorm in it. While you can add a note to each bubble, I like using it more like a minimalist index card brainstormer, then moving to another app for more extensive depth. I love the way you just pick up the bubbles and drop them down an inoccuous hole when you want to throw them away. ### 5/5 — Great Organization Tool *2019-06-21* Good for organizing story ideas and thoughts, and honestly a lot of fun to use. Things can get a little cluttered once I have a lot of elements so it would be cool to have some more organic layouts that shift as sections grow. But overall, well worth the money, especially if you also struggle with keeping your mental ducks in a row. A little goofy, but I’d love for there to be more icons/emojis to pick from. ### 4/5 — Keep going *2019-06-20, version 1.34* This app is unique in organizing for anybody regardless of the project. I just hope the devs keep adapting and iterating as time progresses. ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — Can't create an outline *2021-05-24, version 1.38* I've tapped that "plus" icon so many times but I just can't get a new outline/element to pop up. Very frustrating. Reached out to developer, but I haven't heard back. I really want to use this app, but my window for requesting a refund is closing soon... ### 1/5 — Can’t see what is being typed *2019-10-04, version 1.35* Hi. I’m a fan of Mindly. But with the plus app, I cannot see what I’m typing. The text is in white coloring. Sincs well with each other. Have used this for over a year. That's the good. The bad I waned this on my computer, in my case, a Mac, but the app for the computer is expensive. Since it was getting bad reviews, I hesitated a long time before I saw what looked like a possible update. I decided to risk the 30 bucks. That's the bad. The ugly is the fact doesn't work. No way to sinc it with my other devices. I wrote an email to support. They emailed me back and said I needed to go to settings. There is no Settings!!!!! Not anywhere in Mindly. I even sent a screen shot to prove it was not there where they said would be. They never responded after that. So disappointed. I have just thrown away 30 bucks for something that does not work!!! ### 1/5 — Waste of money!!! *2016-10-14, version 1.24* $6.99 for an app that won't even open?! Seriously?! I'm furious and I want my money back! Every time I try to open the app, it shows the logo and crashes to the home screen. Do not purchase! ### 2/5 — Half Baked *2016-01-06, version 1.16* The basic functionality is pretty good. I like the layout more than a traditional mind map. The image handling is clumsy and not at all intuitive. The real problems start when you want to share. There are no 3rd party cloud options and all images get lost when you try to share by email. ### 3/5 — In need of an update. It’s been 8+ months. *2021-06-26* It’s a good looking app with a lot of potential, great UX, it helps me flow out ideas but seems to be languishing. Be great if developer updated site to let people know what’s going on. 1) needs more export file formats. 2) needs bigger color palette. 3) needs to integrate with iOS File app so files can be saved in more privacy centric cloud storage providers like Tresorit or ProtonDrive vs ONLY Dropbox and iCloud, cmon. 4) Pinch to zoom is universal on iOS. I would’ve given this 5 stars but... it’s still “primitive” 1. The Main topic CANNOT BE A GRAPHIC but the “subs” can be! What’s with that? 2. The adding an image or deleting is something like a new programmer has just programmed because s/he doesn’t know any better. 3. The colors are limited to what the app provides! 🤦🏻‍♂️ 4. Apparently the last upgrade was a year ago... 5. Sync’ing is only through Dropbox or iCloud. Why can’t you you sync like Evernote for example: instantly! 6. This has the cleanest UI that I have found. Works very well for organizing your thoughts. In the future I would love a feature that would allow this to be used as a checklist. It would also be nice to be able to create a GIF for use in presentations as depending on the size of the map it can be difficult to read. ### 5/5 — Wonderful App! *2020-09-21* I love this app, I love the clean mapping of ideas, I love adding imagined and writing notes about each aspect of the mind map. As a fan I would love to have the option of Dark mode, making the background color darker would be great, the white background is hard to look at for extended periods of time.
