So you have to guess whether you’ve held your finger long enough for a flag to appear, which either slows you down (if you wait too long) or makes you lose (if you don’t wait long enough, and instead of a flag the app thins you tapped on a bomb). I used to play it as a kid but would always just click around because I didn’t realize what the numbers meant. Now I’m beating levels daily. The only change I would make to this app is to have a different button to place the flags. Sometimes the hold and press doesn’t work and then I see where all of the mines are. However, there are some very annoying issues that cause the game to not be perfect. Firstly, when you find a mine (or you think you’ve found a mine) you currently need to tap and hold on the block to place a flag, which often results in accidental “mis-rap” that causes you to detonate the mine and lose. Additionally, if you then press the “retry” or “redo” button to fix this obvious, stupid accident you will typically get an ad, but this ad currently always rotates and completely destroys the Minesweeper board, which forces me to exit and restart the game. Possible solutions: - To fix the inconsistency of placing flags there should be an optional setting (this way people who prefer the “tap-and-hold” method can still place flags that way) that adds to buttons to the top of the screen. These buttons will be toggles that allow you to alternate between “searching” a block or placing a flag when you tap. For example, if I tap the “flag” button, anytime I tap a block after that I will place a flag until I tap the “search” (or whatever you want to name it) toggle button to go back to revealing areas. - As for the ads destroying the game board, this seems to be because the ad forces the game to “rotate” 90 degrees using iPhone’s auto-rotate feature. This will need to be addressed by the developers. (iPhone version I’m experiencing this on is iPhone 6, thus if you’re not experiencing this than it is probably tied to the version). ### 5/5 — Great game *2019-09-03, version 1.0.8* It’s simple, relaxing, and we’re all looking for ways to keep our brains sharp with strategy games, right? ### 4/5 — Annoying Review Reminders *2019-09-01, version 1.0.8* Every time I start a new game I get a notification to review it. The notification is aggressive and the X button doesn’t work so I have to close the app completely and then open it back up. BUT…Just like the title says, I ended up paying the $2.99 price tag to remove those annoying ads and, wouldn’t you know it, that made the gameplay so much more fun. Like every game, I stopped playing it for awhile, maybe a couple months or so. When I came back to it, as I’m playing, gee golly, an ad started on top of the screen. Then, after I won a game, an ad started playing. And I thought, I know I paid $2.99, what is going on here. So I looked to see if there was a restore your purchases. All I can find is the same, Spot that says… Unlock and remove adds for $2.99 Well, I did that already. Not only am I playing this game, the game seems to be playing its own game with me. Not cool!! Removing ads is relatively cheap at $2, but for me this app isn’t worth playing even if it were free of distractions. There is no account of game logs. No time trials. No win percentage.
