Lately, when using the app in my 2026 Mini Cooper with Apple CarPlay (connected to my iPhone 15 Plus (iOS 26.5.2) in conjunction with Waze, the display in the Mini dash goes from the normal looking map that displays the route clearly, to a sort of diffuse grey/white cloud displaying nothing. The display will look normal on my iPhone while this is happening, but the Mini’s display through Apple CarPlay is completely useless. The only thing that makes it go back to looking the way it should is closing & then reopening the Waze app on my phone. This is a dangerous fix to perform while driving, but it happens DURING the drive sometimes. 

I alerted Waze to the problem & will also alert Apple/CarPlay as well. 

Please tell me if there’s an easy way to stop this from happening. It really can be potentially quite dangerous, & all of my apps, software & operating systems are up to date, using the latest versions. 

For some reason this has been happening a LOT in the past month or two.

The app has usefulness for checking your status, maintenance, battery, and unlocking/remote start, but you basically sell your privacy a great deal to use it. It is not worth it in my opinion, and your vehicle can be used fine without it.

The app only intermittently connects to the car, even when standing within feet of it, making it impossible to get up to date charging status. There are no diagnostics available to help figure out why refreshing status fails, so the app is only of any use stochastically.

To many little things to break. So many moving parts. Constantly getting the oil changed. They skipped some nonsense unnecessary filter, so now I have a red check for thousands of miles. The app is so stupid I don’t wanna put a code in my phone to drive my car. Planed ventilation? Think thoughts

This app is horrible. Constantly have to re-login. There is no value whatsoever to having this app. Don’t waste your time and phone resources. I imagine the real value is so that BMW can track you and have another channel to market to you.

The app? The entire connected experience? Horrible. Why should it take hours for updates to download? Why must the car be driven for updates to load from phone to auto? A nightmare. This will take days to complete just like the last time and the time before.

Download app. Sit in Mini. Enter VIN. NOPE! "An error occurred. Try later." Over and over. Oh, you can try calling, and on the third or fourth attempt you might understand enough of the conversation to realize they want you to email a copy of your proof of ownership. Email. Paper record. In 2026. This from the most future forward name in automotive design.

Used this on my old phone, installed on new phone and it says my Mini isn’t supported (VIN). Completely useless if I can’t even add my vehicle.

I don’t see why you need access to my local network to connect to my WiFi for updating vehicle software. You don’t need to scan my network and see what other devices I have. The car just needs the internet to download the new software. Please remove this requirement.

This app is bizarre. It can tell you where your phone is, but not where your car is. You can plan a trip in the app, and it sends the destination to the car as a point with latitude and longitude, but it doesn’t actually send the route to get there. For a great 2021 Mini Cooper, the fact that you still can’t update it to Apple CarPlay makes this app completely useless.

Really feel the outdoors with forward sunroof and good-size windows. Get max of about 120 miles on full battery but not a problem charging at home. As public charging expands, will probably take it on occasional 300-mile trips to the mountains.
