## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 2.0 — 2026-05-12

Bug fixes & improvements.

### 1.8 — 2026-02-27

Added an (optional) new feature, you can now take manual backups of the full app whenever you'd like! iCloud will continue to function as is, your data will remain securely and privately stored in iCloud. This feature is for power users that want to create full manual backups any time.

Import/Export Backups
- You can now click on "Export Data" on the Settings screen to create a backup and save it as a file.
- You can load a backup via the "Import Data" button. If you do choose to load a backup, it will overwrite the app with the backup state from the file.
- Backups are saved in JSON format

### 1.7 — 2026-02-25

Added a new "Habits to Quit" widget
Easily track habits you want to quit from the homescreen with a new dedicated widget.

Streak tracking bug fix
Marking a failure in the middle of a "quit" habit streak now correctly breaks the continuation, both visually and in the streak count. This improve accuracy across even more edge case interactions.

### 1.6 — 2026-02-25

Updated how "Quit" type habits (that you want to quit/avoid) work across the entire app. These habits now must be quit daily, one failure will break the streak. This should be far more intuitive than the previous design.

Quit habits now have their own section in the main menu to make it easier to find them.

Improvements to the Edit History screen to make it even easier to view and update past events for a habit.

### 1.5 — 2026-02-24

MiniHab v1.5 — Major performance and stability updates:

Reliability & Sync:
- Overhauled how the app handles iCloud sync to be much more robust. Streaks no longer falsely reset after a sync, missing heatmap dots are automatically repaired, and ghost entries on the calendar are cleaned up. Everything should feel rock-solid now, even on slower connections.

Performance:
- Streak calculations now run in the background, so scrolling and interactions stay buttery smooth — even with lots of habits.

New Features & UI Polish:
- Pull-to-refresh on the Today list (toggleable in Settings) — gives you a manual way to refresh everything
- Unsaved changes protection — you'll get a confirmation dialog if you try to dismiss a habit you're editing with unsaved work
- Smoother expand/collapse animations on habit sections
- Cleaner blur effect on save areas in add/edit screens
- Notifications settings moved higher in the edit view so they're easier to find
- Habit name field now clearly marked as required
- Updated .specificDay habits to weekly type streaks: If you have a habit which is due on “specific days”, this will now behave the same as a “X / week” streak, it is now a “Weekly” streak, so at the end of the week your streak increases by 1 week if you completed the habit on the due days. Otherwise it resets back to 0 weeks. This should make these habit types a bit easier to understand hopefully.

Bug Fixes:
- Fixed heatmap showing completed/failed dots after un-marking a habit
- Fixed edge cases where edits made on "today" didn't update streaks and widgets consistently
- Various iCloud sync-related timing fixes, especially related to re-installs, app updates, and using the app on multiple iCloud enabled devices
- Fixed a bug where one failure per week would reset your entire streak even if you achieved it the minimum number of times. For instance a habit due 3x per week if you completed it 3 times but marked it as failed 1 times it would reset previously. Now it won’t, and you won’t erroneously lose your streak!

This was a huge update, if you run into any bugs or issues please send me a message at gavinshrader.com/contact

Thanks for using MiniHab!
