You cannot import your own asset OBJs. This isn’t clear when purchasing which is a bummer because it’s the only app so far that even eludes to character rigging. Honestly, you could make so much money with a stand-alone rigging app for sculpts make in forger or nomad.

It appears that the only images that can be animated with this software is ONLY ITS OWN 3D IMAGES.  It appears to be NOT for importing your own PNG image and adding movement and rigging to animate your own graphic image.  However, from viewing the advertisement clip images, I was given the impression that I could animate my own images with this software.

Minima Animator (and its companion Minima Sculptor) are really fantastic, simple animation and 3D construction apps.  I love the fact that Animator renders shadows on the models.  It took me about 20 minutes to figure out how to use and to render out my first test animation.  

What I mean by “almost” perfect, though, is that the two apps lack the ability to make any kind of realistic models — the painting studio tools in Sculptor are simply object-by-object color; there’s no possibility to import textures that I’ve found, and there’s no ability to import textured models from other applications like Verto Studio or any other source.

I’d LOVE it if you could add some texturing tools, and/or the ability to import obj files from other apps.  Currently I use Verto Studio to build models, and iyan 3d Pro to animate them, but iyan doesn’t render shadows.  I’d love to be able to use Minima Animator to animate models I’ve built elsewhere.

I’d also love a little more manual control of the keyframe tweeners, but the preset tweeners are most everything I need for most shots.

That said, if you’re looking to create early Pixar style animations (like, pre-Toy Story) created entirely from primitives, this app rocks.  It has a fairly large catalogue of assets, and using the companion Sculptor app, you can create pretty much anything you need.  I haven’t dived in to the rigging tools, yet, but the fact that it has keyframe-based animation of rigged models is amazing.

I hope the developer will consider improving the texturing tools and maybe provide some more robust modeling tools in Sculptor (like booleans).
