The app guides you through the startup process and provides an overview of data received from the MiniMed Flex pump and sensor. The MiniMed app is your primary source of information about your therapy and for controlling insulin delivery. Your data is automatically uploaded to CareLink™ software, simplifying the process of sharing information with your healthcare team and care partners.

Important: The MiniMed app is only compatible with the MiniMed Flex system, it does not work with other MiniMed pumps. The MiniMed app should only be used with supported mobile devices and operating systems. The MiniMed Flex system is intended for the continuous delivery of basal insulin at selectable rates, and the administration of insulin boluses at selectable rates for the management of type 1 diabetes mellitus in persons 7 years of age and older, and of type 2 diabetes mellitus in persons 18 years of age and older requiring insulin. The system is also intended to continuously monitor glucose values in the fluid under the skin. The MiniMed Flex system includes SmartGuard technology, which can be programmed to automatically adjust insulin delivery based on continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) sensor glucose values and can suspend delivery of insulin when the sensor glucose value falls below or is predicted to fall below predefined threshold values. The system is intended for use with connected sensors, including the Simplera Sync™ sensor and integrated continuous glucose monitors, including the Instinct sensor, each of which has different wear-time, form factor, insertion site, and other distinguishing characteristics that relate to sensor performance. Consult the appropriate sensor user guide when using the system. Discuss treatment decisions with your HCP.

I wasn’t expecting this app to be so intuitive but they really have made it easy. I also like that it has step by step instructions for reservoir filling and infusion set placement. Plus seeing my time in range is great.

Convenient, but does have flaws that make it feel like a step down from the previous generation:

1. I think the most important feature would be to have the ability to do the setup without a CareLink account and an internet connection. If my phone ends up dying and I need to use a different one where the app isn't setup yet, having to worry about finding my password and making it even more complicated if 2 factor authentication is enabled, rather than just connecting to a different phone and being able to control the pump is very impractical in an emergency, especially with no connection. You can sign in initially, but I don’t want to be signed in on someone else’s phone just in case mine dies, plus I’ve had it randomly sign me out before.

2. My phone (iPhone 16 Pro Max, iOS 26.5.1) ended up crashing and rebooting overnight, and I did not get any alerts on the phone that the application isn't running, only on the pump, 30 minutes later - I don't recall whether it was sound and vibration, but I'd like to be woken up by this, so ideally this alert would behave the same way as a low alert, with the same urgency once triggered, ideally earlier than having to wait for 30 minutes, 10-15 minutes would be great if we were able to adjust this setting.

3. I'd like to be able to receive all my alerts, including fall/rise/before low/before high, on the pump itself as well as the phone, not only a few specific ones, in case my phone gets rebooted due to a crash or similar situation that causes the app to quit running in the background. My alerts are set to remind me in time, so if the app stops running for some reason and my blood sugar changes more rapidly, alert on low might be too late, whereas alert before low would notify me in time to take action.

4. Similar as above, having the ability to adjust when we get alerted once sensor loses communication, such as 10-15 minutes, would be very helpful during more rapid changes.

5. The graph view on the application for 780G was a lot better - I much preferred being able to have the ability to see the amount of basal being delivered indicated by smaller and larger bars on the graph as opposed to only seeing whether basal is being delivered or not, and same for the auto corrections - no matter the amount, the bars are the same small size, and hard to select when I want to view the details. This part feels like a major downgrade.

6. The ability to view history for more than 24 hours on the graph would be very useful - sometimes I’d like to see how a certain dose or temporary basal adjustment affected me the day or two before without having to download the CareLink reports.

7. The overall UX could be better, it would be nice if the app felt more iOS native. The animations and scrolling feel choppy, and the scrolling doesn’t feel like native scrolling. It would also be nicer if vertical scroll on the Home page could be eliminated.

8. SmartGuard should be able to pull data from CareLink and be able to start much sooner than having to be in manual mode for 48+ hours - as far as I know, the data is already there, why do we have to start fresh if the data is current?

9. It would be really nice to be able to see my sensor glucose along with the trend arrow as a live activity.

10. Not having to open the app on Apple Watch every time to view the current reading would be more useful.

This app gives me all the functionality I’ve desired. Being able to customize notifications (ex low insulin) to my preference is huge. The visuals to track your results are easy to digest and informative. Fast and easy to setup!

I’ve been using the new MiniMed Flex pump with the iPhone app for over a month, and I couldn’t be happier with the experience. The transition from my 780G pump to the new app-based interface was incredibly smooth. The app is so intuitive that I was comfortable using it immediately.

The biggest advantage is convenience. I rarely need to take my pump out of my pocket anymore because nearly everything I need can be done right from my iPhone. Delivering a bolus is faster, easier, and much more discreet than ever before.

MiniMed has truly brought insulin pump therapy to the next level with this system. It feels like a modern, well-thought-out product that finally gives users the smartphone experience we’ve been waiting for. The developers deserve a lot of credit for creating an app that is both powerful and remarkably easy to use.

Thank you to the MiniMed team for continuing to innovate and improve the lives of people living with diabetes. This has been a game changer for me.
