### 5/5 — Best app for local music

*2025-04-02*

This is the best app I have found to play my local files. I use the Music app for streaming and this one for my local files. It’s a simple and clean UI.

I agree with other reviewers that the icon could be more attractive. A couple of other small tweaks here and there could make this app truly top notch.

But overall it works. It’s not buggy. It’s easy to use.

Thanks for creating a such nice app for us music lovers!

### 5/5 — Amazing music app

*2025-03-25*

This app is a pretty amazing achievement because this is the first time I’ve ever used a third party music app on iOS that’s actually good. I do have a few ideas for improvements though, in my opinion.

- Change the shuffle behavior so that all tracks are shuffled when I play from a list of all my songs, not just the songs alphabetically ahead

- I have a /lot/ of songs on my phone, so something to be able to quickly scrub through them would be really nice because currently it takes ages to get through them

- Tapping the bottom bar should just take me to the now playing screen and not the album screen at all

- The icon needs to be updated lol

Other than that there’s not really that much I can think of that I’d change. This app is amazing and I’d recommend it to anyone who prefers using local music.

**Developer response:** Thanks for your kind words and suggestions! Please feel free to contact me in the app or directly at info@plastaq.com if you have more suggestions or are willing to expand on your points here.

### 5/5 — Great Dev and App

*2025-03-05*

Support this man! He will take your feedback seriously and possibly implement it. Download now if you want a simple music player to play various formats like FLAC. He’s is actively and updating the app to continue to make it better.

**Developer response:** Thank you so much for your kind words and for supporting the app!

### 5/5 — MMM indeed

*2025-02-18, version 1.68.0*

A tasty music machine :)
If you're bored with endless playlists of flighty tunes, and just want to reconnect with your own albums, this is for you. 😎

### 5/5 — Definitive Music Player

*2025-02-16*

For content you have, this has to be *the best* music player for iOS. Now that doesn’t mean it’s perfectly rid of quirks but it’s quite polished and free to use for basic core functions (I used it for a day and liked it so much ended up buying the full version).

The most convincing reason to me though is that you don’t have to worry about an arbitrary service agreement that might have “your music” being gone one day. Additionally, the developer is quite responsive and get this, actually cares about what they’re working on. What a crazy concept in 2025.

If you’re still reading this, just download MiniMoon already and don’t be afraid to dig in to take the time to sort out your music files. You won’t regret it!

### 5/5 — Fantastic

*2025-02-08*

So clean! An intuitive, full featured audio player. Pairing with audiophile headphones ASAP 🌟🌟🌟

### 4/5 — Good but scrobbling issues

*2024-12-11*

I like that it has scrobbling, which fb2k iOS sadly lacks, but there's an issue where if you're playing a song on loop it only scrobbles once. Unless I've got it set up wrong.

**Developer response:** Thanks for bringing this to my attention I’ll take a look at it.

### 4/5 — Great app But needs improvement

*2024-11-15*

Its a Great app Overall But why is the pause Button an Stop icon they mean different things. The ability to back albums up would be Greatly appreciated

**Developer response:** By back up albums do you mean go to the previous track? That's available in the full screen playback view.

### 5/5 — the bestest [sic] on ios!

*2024-11-01*

out of all the local music players on iOS (and trust me, ive tried a lot) this one has been the only one that has had everything i was looking for:

ease of adding music from your device without a computer, metadata editing, easy player controls that dont make you go into settings just to loop one track *cough cough foobar2000*, and more while looking nice, being easy to use, and not being buggy.

theres only one bug i found: when using the lastfm integration, it tends to scrobble tracks before theyre finished. however, its a minor bug as it doesnt really mess up your stats. overall, its an amazing music player that id recommend to anyone who wants to play local music

### 5/5 — Fantastic app!

*2024-10-15, version 1.38.0*

I have a large digital collection ripped from my CDs, and have been looking for an app with iPad and iPhone support. I love it because it’s customisable, and it focuses on MY music, and nothing else.

A few suggestions 1) smart collections, 2) play and shuffle buttons on artist and genre pages, 3) option to add artist and genre sections to Home, 4) iCloud sync for Collection info, settings etc, 5) grid view in Collections tab.

You’ve obviously put in a lot of effort. Great app! Thanks

### 1/5 — Hidden payment

*2024-10-24, version 1.39.0*

I downloaded this app under the assumption that it would be free as when I downloaded it there was no in-app purchases, however now I’m unable to play any music as apparently I’ve been using a trial this whole time without any knowledge of doing such.

If you’re going to charge for your app at least be upfront about it instead of hiding it from users and than suddenly asking for money.

### 2/5 — Great App

*2026-06-11*

The app feels quite nice, it would be nice to be able it to pull from a local dnla server to bypass the stupid apple devices path altogether. One thing that is missing is a CarPlay 👍 I found a few bugs that are quite critical to having a great experience. The random button does not work. It will play the original track that you selected many times. If you click on a track within an album and hit random to play the album in a different order the tracks will play like 5>9>5>7>7>5>5>5>2. Secondly the queue next button doesn’t work as it will insert the track in a random place in the queue. I really like this app but these features are quite essential for me so it’s important that they function.

**Developer response:** Random just plays random items from the play queue. If you want to shuffle an album use the shuffle button on the album page.

### 2/5 — weird

*2024-12-31, version 1.60.0*

i loved this app and how intuitive it was and it’s great functionality but after one day of using it it just does not play songs anymore. i tap songs to play them and nothing. tried refreshing my library restarting my phone and nothing. im disappointed

### 3/5 — No Playlists

*2026-05-13*

Really good player but not having the ability to make playlists is a huge dealbreaker

**Developer response:** Playlists are called collections in the app and have all the functionality of playlists and more, including sophisticated smart collections.

### 3/5 — good player, bad importing

*2026-04-12*

seems like a good player, it’s just that whenever i import any music, the player makes the artwork of all of them VERY low quality, and that’s just a big gripe for me. otherwise id be using this all the time

**Developer response:** The artwork is shown at full resolution on the album page and the full screen view. The app imports all your art at full resolution and doesn’t alter it in any way.

### 4/5 — Great App

*2026-06-03*

The app feels quite nice, it would be nice to be able it to pull from a local dnla server to bypass the stupid apple devices path altogether. One thing that is missing is a CarPlay app but other than that it does exactly what it is designed to. 👍

### 4/5 — Easy to use 🌙

*2026-03-12, version 3.7*

Would love a YouTube player on the app so you can listen and stream music 🫶🏻

### 4/5 — 3.0 Update

*2026-01-24*

Love the app and new look is nice. Some issues I noticed: In Home Screen, Most Played track list will only play the top #1 item when clicked, ignores clicking any other tracks. Albums Tab is sorted in a way that isn’t obvious, with no options that I can find to control sorting. There doesn’t seem to be a way to reorder tabs like the last version, I definitely want Home, Artists, Genre at the top so they appear on the bottom bar, the last version let you do that.

**Developer response:** Thanks for your feedback. The latest version brings back the tab reordering feature and a 3.2 update is coming soon that should fix several other issues including the most played tracks click issue.

### 4/5 — Solid

*2026-01-23*

Simple design, modest pricing, great free sync tool for windows/mac. Refreshing to see, and I appreciate the album-centric focus.

My only gripe is this, and my main reason for writing the review: My music library has no cover art attached to the files, and instead has a folder.png/cover.jpg image in the folder for the album art, as it cuts down on file size. This is common practice in a lot of online circles. minimoon seems to have a hard time figuring this out, and i’m hoping it’s not because of metadata/cover art editing being locked behind the paywall. I’d prefer to not have to edit them on my phone.

Consider it a feature request. I’ll definitely support the app if it goes through, as I respect this a ton.

**Developer response:** Thanks for your feedback. Cover art in separate files should work. Can you please contact me at info@plastaq.com and I can take a closer look at your case?

### 4/5 — Great alternative

*2025-02-26, version 2.0.3*

Very happy with the app … you can listen to your music without apple interfering. Would love to be able to use this app for my music through CarPlay … a hope for the future.

### 5/5 — The Best

*2026-07-19*

Simply the best music player for local files I’ve found—and I’ve tried quite a few. There are a few minor, technical frustrations, but very understandable for a single-person developer. Two that come to mind are (a) a crash when dealing with the collection menus, and (b) the last.fm scrobbling feature does not have an offline log that I can figure out, so if you listen without wifi or cellular, those scrobbles are gone, unfortunately. Would be nice to see this feature!

Quick tip for other users: Use Opus! It becomes transparent at much lower bitrates than mp3, ogg vorbis, &c.

**Developer response:** Thanks for the kind review. Please contact me at info@plastaq.com and I’ll try to figure out your collection crash.

### 5/5 — Best Music Player

*2026-03-18*

This is legitimately the best music app I have ever used. It is fast, responsive, and uses wonderful gestures like being able to swipe right from pretty much anywhere to go back, instead of having to go all the way to the left edge. Also, the Mac app and the syncing between the two is so easy and reliable.

It is also clearly designed by someone who loves music. The support of the opus codec, the last.fm integration, the focus on albums, being able to favorite and rate songs/albums, and the statistics are wonderful. Being able to edit the metadata in the app is great.

If there was one nitpick, it would be that I wish the search functioned slightly different. How it works is I have to type out “poison the well” to find the band, but I would LOVE it if I could just type “poison well” and it return what I am looking for. I don’t know why, but I do not like typing articles into searches, so maybe it’s a me problem.

**Developer response:** Thanks for your kind words about the app! I agree about search. I’ll add that to my to do list.

### 5/5 — Aesthetic and functional music player

*2026-03-03*

Minimoon is the only music player I have been able to find on iOS that combines ease of use, functionality, and superb aesthetics. I have only had issues with one aspect; synced lyrics. As far as I’ve seen after experimenting, the player does not support embedded lyrics. It instead displays them as they’d appear in an .lrc file, i.e., [timestamp] (lyrics), as well as not syncing with the song. If this feature could be added it would boost this to a five star perfect app for me. Also, if I’m doing something wrong and the player does support embedded lyrics I would appreciate if the dev could tell me what I’m doing wrong. Otherwise, love the app and I would recommend its one-time purchase for the full version! Btw I love the icon, it’s very charming.

**Developer response:** Thanks for the kind review. You’re right that currently synced lyrics only work in external lrc files but the next update will add support for synced lyrics in tags too.

### 5/5 — Superb Music Player

*2026-02-01, version 3.1*

The new UI revamp is beautiful, I honestly like it better than Apple Music’s UI. The home page is amazing and the new features are neat! I really like when you scroll down an album by an artist you can see all related albums by them. 5 stars for not collecting data!

EDIT: If possible please add a filter in the favourites tab for song and album favourites <3!!!

### 5/5 — Excellent app, receptive developer

*2026-01-24*

excellent music player for a large library shared between different platforms, the developer is super receptive to feedback as well

### 5/5 — W app

*2026-01-16*

no other local music player lets you sync between pc and ios so quick and easy, the companion app is a godsend

### 5/5 — Best local music player I’ve found

*2026-01-12, version 2.10.0*

This is by far the best local music player for iOS I have found, I’ve tried quite a few others but this one seems to recognise the tracks tags the best, it has a really nice layout and is very easy and intuitive to use.

### 5/5 — love it its so smart

*2025-12-27, version 2.10.0*

🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼 love it good luck

### 5/5 — The best music app on iOS period

*2025-12-23*

This is genuinely the best music app on iOS, I can’t even think of another app with lyric support, an equalizer, the ability to shuffle albums, and just fast and reliable playback. I use it every day and I’ll never go back to a streaming service!

### 5/5 — Almost Perfect

*2025-05-15*

Literally the only thing change is a cleaner UI and more options for customisation such as OLED Black other than that PERFECTTT

**Developer response:** Thanks for your kind words about the app. If you have any suggestions for improvements please send them to me at info@plastaq.com.
