### 1/5 — Not Accurate

*2021-07-28*

I have asthma so monitoring air quality is important to my health. I already have a good weather app which provides excellent air quality information. However, I thought a local app might be interesting, so I tried this one. It was consistently poor accuracy and gives very limited information that can’t be customized at all. Don’t bother with this app.

### 1/5 — Update broke it

*2018-08-24*

The google map update broke it. Now you can only see the daily forecast, not the current air quality measurements.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Should be removed

*2025-08-02*

As the app is no longer supported it should be removed.

### 1/5 — Doesn’t work on iPad any more

*2024-05-13*

No longer works on my 6mo old iPad

### 1/5 — App defunct

*2023-09-28*

Frustrated as others have been, I went to the MPCA web site. They have this notice:

As of May 2023, the old MNAir app has been retired and no longer supported. Please remove the app from your mobile device and download the new AirNow app to get current air quality conditions.

Note: I’ve not yet checked out that app

### 1/5 — Agree with broken & ignored

*2023-07-03*

WAS a great app. Now no updates or reasons why the app isn’t maintained.

### 1/5 — Where is the info?

*2023-05-28*

There used to be details about the air quality in each area but now it’s just a map of the state with no other information. I thought my app wasn’t syncing but I updated my phone and redownloaded the app and still nothing. Please update the information!

### 1/5 — Broken and ignored

*2023-05-24*

This was always a clunky app but it was worth having for the data and analysis.

But in recent weeks the state appears to have completely abandoned it. No data, no analysis. Just a map of the state with no explanation.

That’s a pity, because air quality emergencies are becoming more frequent. Yet this is the best the state can do, even when it’s swimming in a surplus. Best to use IQ Air instead. Also imperfect but it has up-to-date data, at least.

### 1/5 — No Longer Supported?

*2023-05-18*

The app isn’t working on my iPad any longer. It opens to the home page and goes to a new page when I click on an area but there is no data on that page — for any area.

### 1/5 — Overdue for an update

*2023-05-18*

Used to work.

### 1/5 — Hasn’t provided up to date info for a year

*2023-05-17*

Hasn’t provided up to date info for a year

### 1/5 — Basic Usability Issues - App Needs Some Design Work

*2021-08-02*

Guessing this app was probably created by developers (without designers) on a very tight timeline with little budget. Missing basic functionality & content. They don’t tell you 1) how they get the data 2) what kind of alerts you’re signing up for. Also they don’t allow you to enter your zip code or use geolocation for accuracy. No real customization options. I hope the state of MInnesota invests in more user centered design for this app, especially as we experience more bad air due to catastrophic wildfires. It *could* be so useful…but right now it’s not. Other (national) apps do a much better job. Hope it improves!

## Most praised reviews (3 highest-rated)

### 4/5 — Questions

*2021-07-30*

What is considered to be the division between north and south for the Metro?

### 3/5 — Informational...

*2016-03-17*

Feels like a wrapper around a mobile web site, with a UI which can be unresponsive at times, but it does provide useful information.

### 2/5 — Map problem

*2016-06-11*

Seems like the map doesn't not correlate with the actual data or forecast.
