### 3/5 — Inconsistent app function

*2025-04-30, version 1.0*

I’ve gotten the app to work on some bars, but it then stops working at times and gives an error message despite having successfully scanned the same bars in the past. If you can’t rely on the app to function all the time to verify the metal, it’s not very useful.

UPDATE: went from 2 to 3 stars. I had to delete the app and reinstall it on my iPhone.

### 2/5 — Inconsistent app function

*2025-04-29*

I’ve gotten the app to work on some bars, but it then stops working at times and gives an error message despite having successfully scanned the same bars in the past. If you can’t rely on the app to function all the time to verify the metal, it’s not very useful.

### 2/5 — Great idea

*2023-11-22, version 1.0*

Great app when it works, problem is it is contrary at times. I have recently discovered that every time I get ready to use this app, it doesn’t show the login screen, just goes straight to “Ready to Scan Screen “ and always an error message about zero info. I have to delete the app and reinstall it. When I do, I get the opportunity to enter my login info and it works great again until I close it out and try to use it again. It doesn’t ask if I want to save that info but doesn’t give me the opportunity to enter it. Really glad I found a work around so I can scan all my metals as I receive them. Maybe a settings option to save or not save login info would be great.

### 4/5 — Works good after you figure out how to make it work

*2023-07-10, version 1.0*

To make it work you need to tap the top of the back of your phone to the coin. Twice.

### 2/5 — Poor instructions.

*2022-09-01, version 1.0*

I rate this app 2 stars for the simple reason that the instructions are poor. I had to remove the cover for my phone, touch the middle, top, backside of my phone to the blue chip area, my phone dinged but I had to continue to hold the phone there for a few seconds so it could register. Worked great once I figured it out.

I read many diff techniques from the reviews that did not work. I also read many abusive reviews calling people stupid for not achieving a scan from this app. People are not stupid, there are incorrect instructions in the reviews and no instructions on the app itself.

The sole reason I purchased silver from this company was this app. In the future I will prefer stamped serial numbers instead.

### 2/5 — Does not scan

*2022-02-11, version 1.0*

I purchased a few silver coins with the nfc chip. When they arrived, I downloaded the MintID app to scan the chip and for whatever reason it won’t scan. The app doesn’t say if you have to hold the scan circle where it shows the phone moving up and down or how it works.

### 1/5 — Username?

*2021-12-29, version 1.0*

Registration never displays what is your “Username “ is what do we use?
All I get is invalid when trying “first name + last name “
Or “email I’d”

I take it every one just defaults to GUEST like your demo.

I even tried resetting my password to see if that process would show it.

And of course, there is no “forgot Username” feature.

Poor design.

### 1/5 — Not working, Sad cause I like the idea.

*2021-10-12, version 1.0*

It Doesn’t work. And did what the one guy said about turning off WiFi , still not working. Sad !

### 1/5 — Why can’t the developers provide accurate instructions?

*2021-07-30, version 1.0*

I spent a lengthy amount of time investigating how to get the app to work. It does NOT work the way your videos show. I discovered by someone’s review that I needed to tap on the top left EDGE of the iPhone. Not the back as show, nor the front as some users described.
Very frustrating.

### 1/5 — No support, does nothing work.

*2021-07-24, version 1.0*

Tried to remove and reload app. iPhone does not seem to allow. When I try to sign out, it gives error. Do not recommend.

### 1/5 — Doesn’t work on my iPhone. Kinda creepy too.

*2021-06-24, version 1.0*

I took my case off, tried turning WiFi and Bluetooth off, and physically tapping the coin, as I read from another review, to pretty much every spot on the back of my phone and it won’t detect my 1 ounce silver Buffalo MintID round. Nothing pops up, not even an error message.

Maybe it’s because I’m trying to use the app in guest mode? It’s none of anyone else’s business what bullion products I’m attempting to scan. I thought this was for me to verify if a product is authentic, not for some corporation I don’t know or trust to make a database of my personal information tied to bullion products I have attempted to scan.

### 1/5 — Trash

*2021-06-23, version 1.0*

This app it completely trash. Every time I buy a new bar I have to remove the app from my iPhone and reinstall it as it only reads the chip when I first install it. A week later it NEVER works. Uninstall reinstall then it works for a day and then fails again every single time!!!!!!!!!!!!! Trash trash trash!!!!!!

### 1/5 — Doesn’t work, can I have my $800 back?

*2021-05-20, version 1.0*

I can’t scan these, I get an error every time. They worked once when I got them, but when I asked for a quote for the value of my metal the process failed. I’ve had others download the app and try with their phones, and they get the same error. Lots of other 1 star reviews due to the same problem and Mint ID hasn’t fixed it, avoid buying from them.

### 1/5 — Doesn’t work

*2021-05-05, version 1.0*

Fix your app!

### 1/5 — Will not work!

*2021-04-10, version 1.0*

This is a joke! Hope the quality of the silver is better then the app!!!

### 1/5 — Doesn’t work at all. iPhone SE 2020

*2021-03-23, version 1.0*

10oz bar and nothing, tried every part of the phone and watched tutorials..

### 1/5 — App does not work...

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Poor app

*2026-02-24, version 1.0*

Loaded app, set up sign in and app wouldn’t log me in. Tried to say I forgot password and it said email sent successfully. Never received email, so now I can’t even get into the app. Tried to start over and said account already exists. Horrible!

### 1/5 — Bad

*2025-10-13, version 1.0*

Unreliable. Fails to scan consistently, now shows errors for bars that scanned successfully in the past. What’s the point if the app doesn’t work?

### 1/5 — App for iPhone needs to be fixed.

*2025-09-22, version 1.0*

I have 3 different silver products with this feature, and all 3 do not seem to detected by this app.
Very disappointed with this app!!!!!

### 1/5 — App is broke

*2025-08-25, version 1.0*

App does not work. It states all scans are invalid. Ive scanned bars that it worked on before and now they are invalid.

### 1/5 — App does not work

*2025-08-13, version 1.0*

This is a useless waste of space on my devices. It does nothing.

### 1/5 — App is Junk

*2023-02-16, version 1.0*

Seems like a good idea. Appears to scan, then app errors out.

### 1/5 — Does not work

*2022-12-01, version 1.0*

I tried testing it multiple times. It never worked. There are basically no instructions. This will be the last silver bar I purchase from Mint ID

### 1/5 — Don’t work

*2022-06-14, version 1.0*

Bought from sd bullion, don’t scan

### 1/5 — Piece of Crap

*2022-01-18, version 1.0*

Poor user directions. You have to tap the product, not your iPhone and then it only works half the time.

### 1/5 — Cute idea, bad implementation

*2022-01-02, version 1.0*

You have to make sure you “scan” the NFC tag twice. The first time is the read, the second time they are updating the chip. Yes, I know their website claims it is all locked and impossible to duplicate, but get something like NFC Tools and you can easily read the tag yourself and see that is not true.

The password field prevents using paste, so if you use a password manager, expect to type it anyway.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — PERFECT

*2024-02-02, version 1.0*

App functions exactly as it’s supposed to, upon 1st use. And you can use it as a guest so no need to log in. For my iPhone 12, I keep the phone case ON so I face my phone toward the chip. Then tilt the top of my phone down onto it at an angle. I looked up a YouTube video how to nfc read yas I did struggle to do it intuitively

### 5/5 — Before You Rate Youtube a Tutorial…

*2021-06-13, version 1.0*

Once I youtubed a tutorial that explained you needed to place the NFC TAG DIRECTLY ON TOP of your phone for it to work. It worked LIKE A CHARM! Excellent!

### 5/5 — Authenticated! Worked as described!

*2021-05-07, version 1.0*

Great app experience...My first 10oz Bar! So excited!

### 5/5 — iPhone users

*2021-02-12, version 1.0*

Top left side of your phone 😉

### 5/5 — Easy and Authentic!

*2020-12-04, version 1.0*

Exactly what this industry needs! More transparency! Nice work!

### 5/5 — Mint ID ❤️

*2020-12-04, version 1.0*

I’ve been dealing with apps for scanning chips for a long time. Mint ID is a like a cold glass of lemonade on a hot summer day. It’s easy, effective, and makes me not want to pull my hair out. I highly recommend this amazing app.

### 5/5 — Great!

*2020-11-09, version 1.0*

Was able to get everything scanned perfectly. Love it! Thank you!

### 5/5 — Authentication!

*2020-11-04, version 1.0*

Beautiful bars! I chose MintID for the added piece of mind. App worked well even on my old iPhone 8

### 5/5 — Does not work

*2020-10-27, version 1.0*

Waste of time

### 5/5 — Great App — user error?

*2020-10-23, version 1.0*

Based on other reviews, I believe most of the issues are sounding more like user/device error...legit all you gotta do is just tap your phone on your product and your all done — this isn’t rocket science here...

I say this because i had zero issues at all...I just rec’d my first two MintID products (5oz. Bar & 1oz. Round) and so I downloaded the app and registered, and because NFC is always running on iOS, and using my iPhone 11 Pro - I tapped the backside-tip of the phone (aka top section of the back of the phone) on the bar and BOOM! Results = GENUINE! Super easy, super quick, I love it. So far 2 for 2 genuine results & more to come...

I believe this app should have a higher rating than it currently has because it seems to work just fine. There’s no easier or efficient way to confirm the identity of your product, especially these days with so much counterfeit product and so many scams out there, sometimes it could be hard to tell...but not with MintID! So big shout out to the devs and creators of MintID by helping reassure authenticity with such ease! THANK YOU!!
