## What is Minyma?

Minyma is a private messenger built on one principle: your conversations belong to you.

Every message, photo, video, file, voice note, and call is end-to-end encrypted — only you and the people you're talking to can read or hear them. Minyma's servers relay encrypted data they cannot open.

PRIVATE BY DESIGN
• No phone number or email required — pick a Minyma ID and start messaging
• End-to-end encrypted 1:1 and group chats, voice notes, photos, videos, and files
• Encrypted voice and video calls, one-to-one and group — with call hold and call waiting
• Notifications show "New message" by default — content stays private on your lock screen
• Verify contacts with safety numbers and QR codes
• Disappearing messages — set timers per chat, from 30 seconds to 4 weeks
• App Lock with passcode and optional Face ID/Touch ID unlock

MODERN CRYPTOGRAPHY
• Hybrid post-quantum encryption protects today's messages against tomorrow's computers
• Forward secrecy: keys change constantly, so past messages stay protected

EVERYDAY FEATURES
• Polls, pinned messages, link previews, message editing and deletion, reactions, replies, and message search
• Translate messages on request — on your device, with the original kept alongside
• Large file transfers, instant photo previews, HD video option
• Encrypted backup and device transfer you control — we never hold your backup key
• Minyma Voice (optional membership): a realtime voice assistant for hands-free use, weather, translation, and more in 20+ languages

Minyma is free to use for messaging and calls. An optional membership unlocks Minyma Voice and larger transfers. No ads. No tracking. No data sold — there's nothing to sell.

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 1.0.7 — 2026-09-22

What's New for 1.0.7

Secure sessions: when a message could not be read because a conversation's encryption had to be repaired first, Minyma now asks the sender to re-send it as soon as the repair completes, so it appears on its own without anyone having to write again. This also covers notices in the Minyma announcements channel. The "Waiting for a message" notice appears in the conversation the message belongs to, clears when the message arrives, and can be dismissed with a long-press.

Messages: when someone is typing, a small bubble with moving dots now appears at the bottom of the conversation, where their message will land, and turns into the message when it arrives. In a group you see who is typing. The header shows presence only.

Restore: after restoring Minyma from a backup onto a new device, messages in your groups from members you have never chatted with one-to-one arrive right away, and the device keeps its identity consistent everywhere from the first launch. A message that cannot be read yet because a conversation's encryption is still being repaired shows a "Waiting for a message" notice instead of nothing, the repair starts without waiting, and the message follows once it completes.

Privacy: one-to-one messages and their delivery and read receipts no longer carry a conversation identifier that the relay could read while delivering them. Notification banners for those messages still open the right conversation.

Devices: Switch or Retire This Device now also stops notifications and incoming calls on the phone you retire, so an old phone stays quiet after you move to a new one.

### 1.0.6 — 2026-09-19

Messages: a message you send appears in the conversation the moment you tap Send, even on a slow connection.

Notifications: Minyma now checks that its notification registration is still valid and repairs it automatically, so background alerts keep arriving after updates and reinstalls.

Minyma Voice: say "open keyboard" or "close keyboard" to bring the keyboard up or put it away without leaving the chat, and "close reaction row" to dismiss a reaction row. When a voice session is ended by the service, the app now says so plainly.

Linked devices: your Read Receipts setting now applies to all of your devices. With Read Receipts off, a conversation you read on one device clears its unread badge on your other devices too.

Secure sessions: when a conversation's encryption gets out of step, Minyma now repairs it automatically in the background. You no longer need to send a message first, or use Reset Secure Sessions, to get an unresponsive chat going again.

Backup & Transfer: after you restore your account on a new phone, your conversations reconnect on their own the first time a contact writes to you, and Minyma reminds you to retire Minyma on your old phone so both do not act as the same account.

Membership & Voice: you can now tip Minyma right from the plans screen.

Plus smaller fixes and refinements.

### 1.0.5 — 2026-09-16

Minyma 1.0.5 brings security improvements, more dependable notifications and a clearer membership screen.

Security: group membership changes are now verified more strictly, and link previews are no longer created for private or local-network addresses. We recommend updating.

Notifications: Minyma now re-checks its notification registration regularly, which helps background notifications resume if they stopped after an update or reinstall.

Membership: Settings, Voice is now called Membership & Voice, where your plan, voice minutes and top-ups live. You can also ask Minyma Voice to open your membership.

Backups: if a backup can't include everything needed to restore your account, Minyma now shows an error instead of saving an incomplete one.

Announcements from the official Minyma account now arrive more reliably, and an expired attachment now explains that files stay available for about 7 days.

Chats: delivery and read receipts have been redesigned. The marks now sit inside your own message instead of underneath it, and when you send several messages in a row the mark appears on the last one, so a run of short replies stays clean. A single check means delivered and a double check means read.

Read receipts: a receipt is sent while you have that conversation open on your screen. If a message arrives while your phone is locked or you are elsewhere in the app, the receipt waits until you open the chat — so a double check means the message was genuinely in front of someone.

Reactions: long-press any message or photo and the reaction row opens right where you are, with the message and your keyboard staying exactly where they were. When one message carries several photos, each photo's reaction gets its own space.

Photos: when someone sends several photos at once, open any one of them and swipe to move through the rest.

### 1.0.4 — 2026-09-09

Minyma 1.0.4 is a small update focused on long conversations and sharing.

Long conversations: a conversation with hundreds of messages now shows all of its messages when you scroll up, not just the most recent few hundred, and tapping a message in your search results takes you straight to that message and highlights it.

Sharing from other apps: photos, files and links shared to Minyma from another app now send within seconds, including when you open the destination conversation right after sharing.

Privacy: retiring this device, deleting your account or a duress wipe now also clears anything you had shared to Minyma but not yet sent, along with the share sheet's Recent and Saved Contacts lists.

Plus better diagnostics for support.

### 1.0.3 — 2026-09-02

Minyma 1.0.3 makes your account truly multi-device, with calls that get along with the rest of your phone.

Move to a New Device: a guided transfer between your old and new phone. Scan a QR code, confirm the short code, and your chats, contacts, and settings come across end-to-end encrypted. Your security identity moves with you, so your contacts see no change. Optionally include photos and files. Your old device retires itself only after the move is verified.

Linked devices, done right: link an iPad or second phone and it securely fills in your recent conversations, groups, and saved contacts within seconds. You stay in control — a Confirm Device prompt appears on your existing device, and until you confirm, a new device can't delete your messages, and a brand-new device can never remove your other devices.

Your media follows you: a photo or file that's past the server's short retention window can now be fetched privately from your own other device (when it has a copy).

Calls and FaceTime: answering a FaceTime or phone call no longer ends your Minyma voice call — it goes on hold and resumes automatically when the other call ends. Your contact sees On hold with a live timer, or Video paused if another app takes your camera, instead of a frozen screen.

Share from any app: items shared to Minyma now send in the background, even when Minyma is closed.

iPad: a new two-column layout — your inbox on the left, the conversation on the right.

Accessibility: a full VoiceOver, Dynamic Type, and Reduce Motion pass across the app.

Reliability: message delivery now heals itself in more situations, large uploads resume after a relaunch, link previews work on more sites, both your devices ring correctly, and dozens of call and stability fixes.
