### 2/5 — Mind its errors

*2026-08-12, version 4.14.3*

The app frequently confuses nearby car parks when displaying options, which can be a costly mistake. This is especially problematic when car parks are only a few hundred yards apart.

They charge a convenience fee for using the app, but don’t seem to invest enough in making the experience more reliable. At the very least, the app should clearly warn users when there are multiple nearby car parks and ask them to confirm the location before payment goes through.

Overall, this is an app I’d only use when I have no coins or need to extend my parking remotely.

### 1/5 — Difficult to use and uses illegal pricing

*2026-07-17, version 4.14.3*

When selecting duration the UI is a little jumpy and the double scrolling not great.

This app uses drip pricing as banned under DMCC 2025.

### 1/5 — No ‘stop parking’ feature - so my phone has an island and widget update until time expired 🤬🤬🤬

*2026-07-17, version 4.14.3*

Such a basic feature lacking, I will avoid using the app again unless critical because of this design over sight. Other European have a ‘stop parking’ button for obvious reasons. If you do have one, it’s hidden in ‘account creation’ which is unethical and a dark pattern. Regret using this app. I DO NOT WANT AN ISLAND AND WIDGET WHEN PARKINGBHAS FINISHED - THIS HAS USABILITY ISSUES ON MY DEVICE FOR SOMETHING NO LONGER RELEVANT

### 1/5 — Usability

*2026-07-17, version 4.14.3*

I live in Waltham Forest which used ringo for resident permits and visitor permits. We have migrated to MiPermit (presumably someone in the council is getting some kind of kickback) and the functionality / usability is sooooo much worse. Life has been made more difficult!

### 1/5 — Bad design led to PCN

*2026-07-14, version 4.14.3*

If you are already registered in the app and have an old car registration in there, and add a new car whilst in the middle of making a booking, it doesn’t select the car you’ve just added, automatically, it sticks to the old car. It’s easy to miss. And then you pay for the old car and get a PCN. Poor design indeed. Deliberate?

### 2/5 — Eratic

*2026-07-11, version 4.14.3*

The app works about 20% of the time so it is pretty useless. The most common error message is "tariff information not available "

### 1/5 — Visitor permit Not working

*2026-07-08, version 4.14.3*

App doesn’t allow you to pay for visitor permit parking you have to go online and pay total waste of time having this app Waltham forest go back to ring go which use to work perfectly well

### 1/5 — Unusable

*2026-07-08, version 4.14.3*

Trying to pay for parking, select the duration but there is nothing to get to the next step!

Cash never had this problem.

### 1/5 — Broken by design to maximise parking fine income

*2026-07-06, version 4.14.3*

Funny how a Waltham Forest Council app that profits from penalty notices somehow “can’t” let residents book visitor parking under their own resident permit. No option to link it, no workaround, nothing — just a dead end where you’d expect a basic feature to be. Almost like the incentives point the wrong way: fewer valid bookings, more fines. If you’re a Waltham Forest resident, don’t assume this app will actually let you do the one thing you need a permit for.

### 1/5 — Just horrible

*2026-07-04, version 4.14.3*

This app looks like it was made 20 years ago, and it performs like it too. Our local council switched to it from another app, and I honestly thought that one was bad. Turns out I had no idea how wrong I was.

### 1/5 — Really poor doesn’t work

*2026-07-04, version 4.14.3*

Just says json error and doesn’t work. Clearly no one tests this.

### 1/5 — The Very Worst!!

*2026-07-03, version 4.14.3*

Absolutely the very worst app I’ve ever tried (and failed) to use. I want my card parking permit back - so simple to use compared with this mess. Has it been tested by humans?

### 2/5 — Terrible user experience and design

*2026-07-03, version 4.14.3*

The app does function but it has been so poorly designed. Permits have their own section but you can actually start a parking session from your permits, that would be too sensible. No you have to know the exact right thing to search for in the pay to park section as the permits don’t actually show up on the map itself or in the “nearest” section. Then you can’t actually pay for a full days parking using your permit if like me your streets parking restrictions are split into separate morning and afternoon restrictions, so now I have to buy twice as many parking sessions per day compared to the previous app my council used. This is really basic stuff…

### 1/5 — Visitor permits

*2026-07-02, version 4.14.3*

I cannot find any option to pay for a visitor permit

### 1/5 — Awful app - difficult to use

*2026-07-02, version 4.14.3*

Absolute garbage UX. travesty that Waltham Forest council have swapped Ringo for this rubbish.

### 1/5 — Waste of time

*2026-07-02, version 4.14.3*

It is not possible to use app card details must be added every time as it is not possible to autofill contacting by phone takes ages and it they could not or would not help.

### 1/5 — Logged me out

*2026-06-17, version 4.14.3*

What is the point of logging me out of an app?
What is the actual point?especially when the signal at the parking area is weak.
20 minutes wasted.

### 2/5 — Review

*2026-06-02, version 4.14.3*

Great difficulties in renewing permits otherwise fine

### 2/5 — Needs making easier

*2026-05-31, version 4.14.3*

Hi struggled hard to get the correct time and date. Not easy with lack of Wi-Fi. Plus when you put no to text 10p charge it still charging the 10p but you do not get a text. Extremely annoying. Needs better easier ways to do this. If this is made more user friendly then would give a better star review. Had to use as no other way to pay as out of order machine. Or I would not have used this!

### 1/5 — Customer Service

*2026-05-27, version 4.14.3*

Slow and horrible customer service!

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Horrible User experience

*2026-08-25, version 4.14.3*

Truly horrible and unusable. It’s made parking in Waltham Forest a nightmare for the residents.

### 1/5 — Can’t find any parking

*2026-08-21, version 4.14.3*

Trash can app that has cost me 100£ because i was unable to find the right parking zone. Anything you put in finds no results. TRASH CAN APP.

### 1/5 — Push notifications

*2026-08-20, version 4.14.3*

I’ve given the MiPermit app a single star because it fundamentally fails at a critical point. The app refuses to provide free push notifications when your parking is about to expire. Instead, it tries to squeeze a few extra pennies out of you by making you pay for SMS alerts. This is frankly unacceptable in 2026 when free push notifications are standard everywhere else.

### 1/5 — Terrible UX

*2026-08-10, version 4.14.3*

How is this so widely used. Terrible app with awful UX.

### 1/5 — Garbage

*2026-08-04, version 4.14.3*

Awful to use, so much worse than RingGo

### 1/5 — Useless app

*2026-08-04, version 4.14.3*

Entering a new reg resets to the previous entered reg, I’ve twice paid for the wrong car now because of this. Plus no nicknames so you can’t remember which reg is which. And don’t get me started on trying to work out how to use the app for resident parking

### 1/5 — Dreadful UI

*2026-07-22, version 4.14.3*

I have been forced to download this as it now administers visitor parking for Waltham Forest. The migration process was a disaster, and the UI is completely unintuitive. For example, if you have a visitor permit you cannot search by street name, you need to search “VP” - this is not made clear in the app without digging around. Both PayByPhone and RingGo have a much more intuitive design, I can only assume Waltham Forest now use this app due to cheaper commercial terms.

### 1/5 — Doesn’t Record Your Purchased Tickets

*2026-07-21, version 4.14.3*

Purchased tickets do not show in the app straightaway sometimes taking over a day to appear. Also the send me a text when ones parking needs extending doesn’t work either which could mean you get a fine for not paying for parking. This app could land you with a fine if you are not careful. For information the only way you can be sure you have paid for parking is to check your bank app for the deduction. Developers get a grip this is just awful!!!

### 1/5 — Predatory App

*2026-07-21, version 4.14.3*

Firstly the app is not easy to use and does not have clear guidance. Secondly, the minimum parking time appears to be 6 hours which is longer than the controlled times of the parking zones I use. This is predatory and exploits the fact this app has a monopoly.

### 1/5 — Shocking, councils please avoid.

*2026-07-19, version 4.14.3*

Waltham Forest we’ll never forgive you!

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Online parking

*2026-04-06, version 4.13.6*

Swansea City Council car park very convenient and the app saves me running back to put more time on my parking.

### 5/5 — Parking made easy

*2026-03-31, version 4.13.6*

Straightforward to use, no need to worry about coins or machines. Used MiPermit for several for years and would recommend.

### 5/5 — Makes life so easy!

*2026-02-28, version 4.13.5*

I was very anti paying for parking this way……..but I was so very wrong, I just park, pay on the app, it’s remembered me now, so no need to keep putting in my details and I can even top up if work runs late…..love it!

### 5/5 — Easy to use

*2025-12-27, version 4.13.4*

So simple to use

### 5/5 — Strehse

*2025-12-17, version 4.13.4*

Don’t make us pay
More next year please!

### 5/5 — App works to fleece you 6 12 24 hrs

*2025-04-19, version 4.13.1*

My parking is 8 am to 10 pm I have to purchase a 24 hour permit for this pleasure
I can use a 12 and 6 hrs permit yet I’m using up my permit allowance so I’d use one permit for 24 hours . Why does newham charge one street 8am to 6pm and 8 to 10 pm and 8 am to 10 am free parking 2pm to 6 pm on different roads why not uniform the time like Islington’s labour how harsh is newham labour dim wits

### 5/5 — Best parking app

*2025-04-12, version 4.13.1*

Best parking app

### 5/5 — This should be the benchmark for a good parking permit app

*2025-02-22, version 4.12*

Great, simple to use app. Lightning fast to download and great integration on the lock screen!
No registration needed, just enter your number plate, choose your location and pay.

### 5/5 — Best car parking app

*2025-02-17, version 4.12*

Super simple.
Apple Pay.
Easy extensions.
Timer notification for when parking expires.

I never review apps and usually hate how complicated parking apps are but this is amazing. Love it!

### 5/5 — Impressed

*2025-02-15, version 4.12*

First time user, easy to use, loved the count down on your phone, plus reminder (optional).
