### 4/5 — Almost perfect, but can’t run just the lights

*2022-04-23, version 1.4.4*

So I really am enjoying using the miracle grow system, I have had wonderful crops of lettuce and the app is a big help. BUT I really wish you could run just the lights and not the pump so I can use the lights to start some tomato plants in between growing lettuce. I noticed you can easily unplug the pump and pin the low water indicator up so it thinks it’s full. But then the lights start flashing saying there’s an error, water pump isn’t working. It would be great to have an override of the error so I can just use the grow lights by themselves…. Seems like you should be able to do this….

### 2/5 — Worst

*2022-04-17, version 1.4.4*

This app has not been working for weeks and no one will contact me back. There are no updates or support

### 2/5 — Too many bugs in the app

*2022-02-25, version 1.4.4*

I absolutely love my Miracle-gro 12 but beginning about 2 months ago, the app has crashed on me several different ways. Currently, I’m unable to connect to my table via Bluetooth. Last time, it was not recognizing the plants I had in the table for a month, and before that, it kept freezing on login, and before that, it would load a blank page when trying to use “help”. If the app worked like it should, this would be a 5star review. I’d love to change my rating, but first it has to work.

### 2/5 — Okay but missing key features

*2021-12-13, version 1.4.4*

The app allows the user to select what time to turn on the lights each day, but does not allow adjustments to the number of hours per day the lights are on. My lettuce is suffering from inner tip burn and I am trying to decrease the number of hours the light is on to prevent it. But the app only allow a 14 hours on 10 hours of schedule. Seems like a must have feature for healthy plants!

### 2/5 — Frustrating.

*2021-10-26, version 1.4.4*

This app may have potential but it is forever logging me out and making me re-agree to the terms of service. It also resets the plant food reminder so even though I have fed it — it keeps giving me reminders.

### 3/5 — Has potential

*2021-07-24, version 1.4.4*

I want more control over the schedule. No matter what you plant, this thing wants to run 14 hours a day and you can’t stop it. This app hasn’t been updated since the device was released to add a single feature. MORE CONTROLS PLEASE

### 3/5 — It has potential

*2021-05-10, version 1.4.2*

This seems like a good enough idea for how to add more control to growing your plants, but crucial features that would enable that control are missing. The total lack of light control being the big one for me. Why not allow the user to adjust the time the light is on during the grow, or allow the user to change the brightness of the light schedule? The app makes it look like you could change that, so it must have been something they had in mind.

As well, the ability to log events in the calendar (like when water got low) would enable you to track how often one is likely to need to water - something that would be invaluable when traveling and unable to add water at a moment's notice.

The app is promising but seems to have been cut short of features to get it out the door. Please update it and make it what it was (I assume) meant to be.

### 1/5 — Please read the tos before using!

*2021-01-03, version 1.4.2*

This is a complete joke that this company would ask for so much stuff! Bank account numbers, accounts, sleep patterns, sexual orientation, and so much more. Honestly this company should be ashamed of themselves! What a joke!
If you don’t believe me, read it for yourself!

### 3/5 — Works... but glitchy

*2020-07-28, version 1.4.2*

My app never saved custom plants no matter how many times I tried. Also, when I add plant food, I can’t indicate it on the calendar in order to be reminded when to feed again. The app only provides one function which is to set the time the light will come on and off - and It often crashes. Last and most annoying, the low water light will begin to blink even in the middle of the night, waking us up. We live in a studio apartment where there is nowhere to “hide” it. The app knows what time it is and should be smart enough not to blink until a reasonable time in the morning.

### 2/5 — Just got it

*2020-05-12, version 1.4.1*

UPDATE: I got another device and set it up. It was fine for a few days then suddenly today I noticed that the first device disappeared. Also when I only had the first device it keeps on disconnecting from the phone when the water level becomes low and would not turn off the light as scheduled since it got disconnected from the phone. When I didn’t know what was causing it I tried closing the app, uninstalling and reinstalling it ad even turn off and off the miracle gro twelve. This didn’t solve the issue. The device is great but the app has a lot of bugs and crashes all the time. I wish they can fix the app as I really like the device itself. It is just frustrating to always reads the devices and the plants when it loses the information you already supplied.

—————————————

I am loving it, but I echo some of the reviews that we cannot customize the time the light is on (if I wanted less than 14 hours for example) or how long the override can be done. Also I have been trying to add a plant not listed but it is giving me an error saying to check my internet connection. Also I was trying to change that I have already fed with the supplements but I don’t seem to find a way to update it.

### 1/5 — Calling top of the line

*2020-05-10, version 1.4.1*

4 months was the last update this doesn’t load or update I will be calling someone high enough to do something about this people have bought these for over $200 dollars and can only be programmed thru the app. So frustrated and don’t say coronavirus because lots of companies have persons at home taking customer care calls on their phones.

### 2/5 — Several flaws

*2020-05-07, version 1.4.1*

While I am excited to have an in-home hydroponic garden that doesn’t take up have of my limited counter space, it would be great if the app worked. I can turn off the light for an hour but I can’t add plants if they aren’t on the approved list despite that there is a button for that. I’ve gone through nearly 12 steps to add it only to be told my internet must be bad because the changes can’t actually be made (clearly, I am posting this so the internet is working fine) seven times over the course of two days. I’ve deleted the app and reinstalled to no avail. And this is after the first day an a half of ownership required me to set it up from the initial screen four times. Not impressed with the app at all.

### 1/5 — Nice product, Bad APP

*2020-05-05, version 1.4.1*

I’ll start off that I recently purchased 3 of the Miracle Grow 12 systems and it’s very hard to customize your settings due to the app crashing about 3 or 4 times before you can save anything. Today I just set up my 3rd device and it deleted the other 2 I have been growing for weeks now with all of the growth information, settings, and the calendar of plant and feeding dates. This app is not ready to be released yet and I’m so upset I lost everything. They really need to fix the bugs in the app or I’ll buy a different system that works well.

### 1/5 — Awesome in theory, but updates slow in coming

*2020-04-22, version 1.4.1*

I have had this for 4 months and I LOVE the system, but HATE the app. Third party has not updated app to stay current and now every change I make in app does not save. I now planted new plants, updated in the app, but when I close the app after a saved update, my old (long gone) plants return. It has been a huge disappointment because I love the system itself. I finally ditched the app, manually turn the light on & off, and keep track of feedings on a (GASP) PAPER calendar now. Would love a second system, but absolutely NOT shelling out that much $$ until app is brought up to date and regularly maintained.

### 3/5 — Decent app - waiting for functionality

*2019-06-18, version 1.0.2*

The app works really well. Waiting for more functionality. They have e-commerce options to buy more that are apparently coming later. Excited to see what happens there!

### 4/5 — The perfect solution for small space gardening ☀️😍

*2019-06-12, version 1.0.2*

I LOVE this growing system! There are some benefits and some disadvantages I have found when using this but overall my experience is very positive! The benefits - This is perfect for my small space low lighting apartment lifestyle. I have always been a plant person, growing in my garden growing up, however when I moved to a small space there didn’t seem like a lot of options to continue my passion for that. Until this. It is beautifully sleek, very compact and doesn’t stick out like a sore thumb in my apartment. The success of my plants has been great! I have grown herbs, flowers and leafy greens. And it is super easy to set up! I also love how you can control it with the app. The disadvantages - I would love for seeds to be purchasable on the app. I also could not screw the system together (not by drill, screwdriver, of the piece they give you) It holds together without it but obviously would have loved for it to be more stable. Because this system is also 24 hours, I believe that it is using a substantial amount of electricity. My bill for electric seems somewhat higher, so for the cost of growing produce and flowers vs. electricity, I’m not sure if it evens out. Other than that, couldn’t recommend the product more and can’t wait to see what Miracle Gro comes up with next!

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Advertised bug fixes still not working

*2022-06-10, version 1.4.5*

After the app working for the first several months I’ve had the MiracleGro Twelve, it suddenly stopped allowing me to connect to the server on log-in, which persists to this day despite the advertised “bug fixes” which I just today received an email from MiracleGro about. Despite multiple attempts at creating a new account or working around this problem, I cannot create a new Scott account and link it either as the app always demands I verify my email but then never sends a verification. The error remains “cannot connect to server.” I can still receive notifications that my device needs water, but that is the only update I can get and I have no control over the light cycle or scheduling my plant grows.

### 1/5 — Cannot get the app to even open

*2022-03-13, version 1.4.4*

This has been so frustrating!!!! I want to use the app to control the lighting and cannot even get the app to recognize I exist. This sounded like a great idea and I gave this as gifts for Christmas and NO ONE can get the app to work on our iPhones.

### 1/5 — MG12

*2022-03-09, version 1.4.4*

The gardens themselves are awesome, I have 2 but the app stinks. I’ve had the 2 gardens for awhile now and the app has never worked correctly from day one. Half the time it won’t connect or it doesn’t stay connected, I try to end plant cycles and add new plants and it won’t keep the new info or end the old plant cycle. Good idea but the the app never works right, the app stinks!

### 1/5 — Apps backend servers are down

*2022-02-01, version 1.4.4*

Can’t log into app. Can’t reset password. Servers are down, website gives me a 505 error. Is the app discontinued because that’s literally the only way I can control this unit. Now I have a $300 useless growing device I can’t set the on off time to.

### 1/5 — Awful and so glitchy

*2022-01-25, version 1.4.4*

For a device that is entirely controlled by an app, you would imagine that the app would be functional and efficient. But no, just the setup for my device took about an hour cause the app kept timing out and having server errors. Absolute nightmare. They should give an alternate option to using this app to control the machine because it’s terrible.

### 1/5 — Not ready for prime time

*2022-01-16, version 1.4.4*

The system is great, but the app is useless. Every time I open the app it is like starting anew. The app frequently cannot communicate with the devices, never updates for changes made, and in general is just a waste of time.

### 1/5 — I can’t even sign up to make an account

*2022-01-08, version 1.4.4*

So far I’ve been trying to set up my account for 45 minutes now and everytime I put in a new email for sign up it comes up JPARSE ERROR…. I try again and then it says the email is already registered. I try to log in with all of the different accounts I’ve “created” but none of them work and comes up with the same JPARSE ERROR… I click forget password and I receive the email, however it sends me to the company site and no direction as to where I can reset my password. Never have I had such an issue with getting a product set up.

### 1/5 — Plants on all night and the app won’t let me log in

*2022-01-06, version 1.4.4*

The app has been saying an error lately titled “JSON parse error: unrecognized token” that won’t let me log in, this error is very difficult because the machine will stay on all day and all night and won’t trigger the auto shut off, the only solution is connecting via the app. Its such an expensive product all for what? An app that doesn’t work most of the time?

### 1/5 — New version does not work

*2021-03-13, version 1.4.2*

Since I updated the app, I can no longer access any of it. I’m stuck in a loop where I click “get started”, then I have to accept the new privacy notice, and that brings me back to the same get started page and over and over again. Now I have no idea when to fertilize my plants (or anything else for that matter), as I had not written anything down on paper when I planted since I was relying on the app. Please fix ASAP!!!!

### 1/5 — worst. app. ever.

*2021-02-01, version 1.4.2*

The hydroponics kit is great, but half the reason I got this thing is the tech behind it. The app is supposed to do so much, but yet doesn’t save anything — and bugs out every time you open it. Atrocious.

### 5/5 — Absolutely love this product!

*2019-06-12, version 1.0.2*

From the moment I received my box I was so excited! I’m pretty bad at putting things together but this made it so easy. The directions were very easy to follow. It also has a sleek design so it blends into the room very well. So far I’ve been growing leafy greens any they’re thriving! Thank you Miracle grow!

### 5/5 — Great Product

*2019-06-11, version 1.0.2*

I was worried about not being able to assemble the system. But the directions were easy to follow. The app helped give a visual assistance. I also like how it’s self timed so I don’t need to worry about watering any of the plants. I highly recommend this product to someone who is a beginner or novice gardener.

### 5/5 — Love!!!

### 5/5 — Such a cool app

### 5/5 — Cool concept

*2019-05-30, version 1.0.1*

Physical product was pretty easy to set up. The app is fascinating to me. Easy to use and informative. I do wish there were more options on seedlings in the app as one thing I am growing was not listed.

### 5/5 — Super cool features

*2019-05-29, version 1.0.1*

This app is so cool. It tracks how much water is in the system, programs the light schedule, has a calendar for harvesting the plant depending on the type, and when to put nutrients in the water. This app does all the hard work and planning that goes into growing plants it’s crazy cool! It was super easy to understand and helped set up the system by showing step by step what to do. Can’t wait until we can order plants directly from the app!
