### 4/5 — Great way to pass the time

*2026-05-18, version 62*

The Netflix version of this is way better. I wish they would update this version to match it. Other than that it’s a fun way to kill time.

### 3/5 — Not bad

*2026-04-09*

It started well, very addictive. You need to collect points each level to update your powers but after playing it for a couple of hours I already maxed out all powers so there is no goal anymore besides getting a global top score. Reviews are correct that you need to pay for unlimited lives. Without payment you can wait a while for a game which maybe takes 3 minutes.

### 4/5 — Missile Controls

*2025-05-25, version 62*

Sometimes the missiles stay at the ground when I don’t want it too

### 2/5 — The score is regressing

*2024-09-30*

I had a total of approximately 52000 point, now I have 47000. Whenever I cross the 50 thousands, next I play the score goes back to 47000.

Also, nothing happens when I press the scores button, top left.

### 3/5 — Potential city

*2023-09-27*

This is an easy one, just add more levels of game play!
After an hour of play, all upgrades are maxed out! That’s it, nothing more to it! Such a great, fun game if it only took longer than approx an hour to completely max out!

C’mon guys, you’ve got a winner with this classic remake. For Pete’s sake, and all that’s holy, please add a few more levels! Just seems so lazy! 🤦🏻‍♂️

I can’t be the only one with this request…

### 4/5 — Additional Upgrades Needed

*2023-05-23, version 62*

Please add some additional upgrades or new weapons to use points for. I love this game but want something to keep working towards.

### 4/5 — Missile command

*2023-04-14, version 62*

Love this game but once you get so hi in standings the game takes cheap shots and flies through shots like they aren’t there. Come on now.

### 4/5 — Glitch

*2023-01-30*

Found a glitch. Suddenly the program stayed in the slo-mo mode after hitting the “T”. It was like shooting fish in a barrel. Stayed that way for maybe 30 minutes while I ran up the score, then it reverted to normal speed. It’s a guess that those super high scores are from hackers. Yeah, the programmers need to fix or get rid of the “R” that usually ends the game.

### 5/5 — Nicely packaged classic

*2023-01-03, version 62*

Don’t forget to keep it updated Atari!

### 4/5 — Great Game…but with a tweak could be a must play.

*2022-09-17, version 62*

Awesome game with great replay ability but is just shy of a absolute must have on your phone. Oh and let me get this out of the way: For those that don’t understand, the R or Rapid power up is for Rapid Rebuild. If one of your middle silos was destroyed, it rebuilds but usually takes a bit of time. The Rapid power up shortens this time frame at the cost of fire rate (how fast you can shoot).

1. Please give us the ability to scale the upgrades we want and how much of it. As I’ve played more and more I feel like I’m getting better but I have no idea if it’s because it’s a product of my own skill or if it’s because I’ve maxed out the upgrades. I think if could tweak it myself to my own wants, that would add a lot of replayability.

2. Please add an “arcade mode” (not to be confused with the AR arcades cabinet) where we start with default power and no upgrades and through the course of playing a play through various upgrades appear (not unlike how powerups appear) that can increase our stats for that play through. Almost like an infinite mode.

I think if these two tweaks were made, this would make Missile Command an absolute gem. But as it stands now, it only deserves a 4 star review because it’s definitely fun but replayability is limited due to one mode of play and inability to tweak experience.

### 4/5 — Nostalgia

*2022-08-12*

Atari needs to bring back more of the classics.
To the guy that didn’t figure out the R power up - it is rapid fire - you have to hold your finger down to use it. One change I would make is perhaps getting a score multiplier if you hit more than one incoming projectiles with one shot. Or perhaps have a score multiplier that resets if you miss.

### 4/5 — Dave Theurer's Classic Arcade Game

*2022-03-22*

I've been playing Missile Command in it's various incarnations since 1980, and it remains in my top 10 list of the greatest games of all time. The mobile version is actually quite playable, thanks to the phone's ubiquitous touch screen. The original used analog trackball control, which hasn't been very accurately reproduced in most other ports over the years. This version solves that problem and creates an addictive twitch mobile experience. I like it. I think Mr. Theurer would be pleased with the developer's homage to his classic arcade game. Great port.

### 5/5 — Great

*2022-03-01, version 62*

This is a great port of ataris famous games, this game is updated for the modern age but still has the same arcade fun of the original wich is over 440 years old

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Rapid Doesn’t Work

*2025-04-02, version 62*

Whenever I hit “R” cube, my missile don’t fire. Anybody else notice this glitch?

### 1/5 — Ransomware

*2024-06-08*

You play through a couple of times and then it says you have to wait for 11 minutes, or hand over money. So I uninstalled t.

### 1/5 — Fake company hawking fake products

*2024-01-18, version 62*

I ordered a system from this “company”. Never got it, never had anyone speak to me.

Will forever be a poser and not even 1 star on anything.

### 1/5 — Boring

*2022-11-23, version 62*

After20 minutes only lets you up to level 6 upgrades. This is a money grab... living off a legend game.. deleted it. The in game upgrades lame you get a ton of fast and slow upgrades but hardly mega or time stop and when you do no misses are incoming so it’s useless

### 1/5 — Fun but flawed

*2022-08-09*

- Graphics and sound design are top notch but the gameplay leaves a lot to be desired.

- The missles often don’t fire at their targets from the closest base

- Missle’s sometimes appear almost off the edge of the screen almost unnoticed

- There’s a pause between hitting a smart bomb and having it clear the board which at a faster incoming rate makes the effect useless

- Even with all the skill attributes maxed out, it becomes impossible to keep up past the 40K mark. Players offensive missile recharge rate isn’t nearly fast enough to keep up.

- Specials don’t last long enough.

I’d gladly pay for the upgrade, but until until some of these items are fixed, the games not worth it.

- No options to restart from current difficulty level

### 1/5 — Awful

*2022-03-07*

Played this game for 20 minutes. The shooting system is inaccurate, the explosions rarely hit projectiles even when it looks as though they should, and worst of all if you lose too many times you need to wait 20 minutes to play again. Atari strikes again and makes an absolutely awful remake of an ancient game in a weak attempt at a cash grab. Do not play this.

### 1/5 — Much too fast

*2021-07-24*

This could be fun if it wasnt so fast,if the difficulty could be adjusted it would be fun but not at this speed, gets far too silly even after one minute making it unpleasent and unplayable, after a couple of goes i uninstalled, what a shame, the original was a classic, this is like missile command on steroids at tripple the speed

### 1/5 — Limited

*2021-03-16, version 62*

Once you Max out all the upgrades there’s isn’t much more you can do.

### 1/5 — Eigentlich gut aber...

*2021-03-11*

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Awesome game

*2026-07-11, version 62*

Great game. Challenging gameplay. This is a remaster of the original Missile Command, but it has new features like upgrading speed, reload, rebuild, and power of the missiles and launcher bases. I find this game to be really fun to play. 10/10.

### 5/5 — Pretty darn good

*2026-06-27, version 62*

It’s a pretty good remastered (or “recharged”) version of the OG missile command, with fun gameplay, good arcade themed graphics (I think), and it’s just a fun, well crafted game overall.

### 5/5 — A FAR Sight Better than the Original

*2025-06-10, version 62*

Especially with its “modern conveniences,” mechanics, and “Blooming” graphics, it’s an objectively a better game. It’s far more engaging, and the graphics are amazingly cool, especially for such a small app that takes so little space. Plus, the touch controls are sweet, because today’s Bluetooth trackballs generally don’t connect to consoles or mobile.

It’s just not what blew people away, in 1980, because it was completely revolutionary at the time, and it was larger than life at the arcades. Others may have to make a point to stick to with their retro-identities, though...

However, if you want to play that on a mobile device (I suggest a cheap, old iPad), then buy the Atari Arcade app, which has the OG and many others. You can max that out with its USB-A to Dock Atari Arcade joystick and iPad holder by duo, which makes for a sweet, little tabletop arcade of Atari games, for I think $7 bucks plus an iPad 2 (i.e., TWO!) or later, which you could pro’lly get for free and replace the battery...

You could also grab the Atari 8-bit computer version—if you’re too hardcore to play without a trackball but not so hardcore as to buy a cabinet—because an Atari 400/800/600XL/800XL/1200XL/65XE/130XE/XEGS and an OG Atari Trak-Ball (two versions with DB9/Atari Joystick connectors) is the closest to the OG, without being the OG — with good graphics (but not vector graphics, like this app’s version and the OG) and ‘cause the Atari Trak-Ball can be set to move at the speed of its spinning, just like the arcades, as opposed to just slowly moving in the direction you’re rolling, ATM.

Aside from all that, if you don’t have some version between an 8-bit Atari Computer and an iDevice/New VCS/any of the more modern PCs or consoles that will drive this game or the follow up they did in 2022 to make this free one even better. You might even think about this as looking at the spark for Atari’s entire “Recharged” games, which are the pinnacle of Atari’s (many) remakes of its games.

### 5/5 — Genius

*2025-04-17*

Genius game. Just the right balance between tough arcade and casual. Imaginative power ups. Good control! Destroyed launcher rebuild feature is cool. Bravo!

### 5/5 — Nostalgia

*2024-03-29*

### 5/5 — Fun Retro Classic!

*2023-11-05*

I remember playing Missile Command on the Atari 2600 as a kid. Great portable version I can play anytime on my phone! Cute and nostalgic gameplay! As long as it stays advertisement free—I’ll keep playing it! Mega kudos!

### 5/5 — Way better than most mobile games

*2023-10-13*

Fun classic style game, no ads of chores, just simple and fun.

### 5/5 — Затягнуло

*2023-06-24, version 62*

Файна гра, не думав, що так довго зависну в ній 😅

### 5/5 — Nice rendition of Missile Command BUT…

*2023-06-17, version 62*

I love the updated control system for missile command. It’s hard to time the missiles from three different sources. I like the game “Cosmic Cannonade” better because the missiles come from a single source so it’s much more satisfying timing that missile to hit the target.

### 5/5 — Pure gaming

*2023-02-21*

Excellent translation touch screen. Art and music is on point. Satisfying. Unique. This is a classy mobile game. And would be just as classy in an arcade.
So glad there aren’t obnoxious purchases to make, screens to waste my time, and other non-skill-based garbage to dilute the things I want in a game: me playing it.
