Ridiculous. ### 2/5 — Mr softee has boundary issues *2025-11-06* Always asking for my location and access to my devices- can’t take no for an answer. Every time I open the app the same pop up nags appear. No you don’t need my location info 24 hrs a day. I get constant notifications that a truck is near when there isn’t one close. I even got them on vacation in Mexico. I also get multiple popups insisting that I give them access to Motion & Fitness, Always-On Location, etc. NO MEANS NO. Stop harassing me every time I open the app. Time to delete this trash. Slider all the way down, silent mode on phone, tried all the settings I could find. But is the truck in my area? Never. Why can’t I get an alert when the truck is within five miles of my location? I would gladly drive to you. It just has you opening the app hoping you can like an idiot. ### 2/5 — It’s not very well designed.... *2021-05-21* First of all, Everytime I open this app it tries to demand permission to background refresh. Folks, let me tell you, I don’t want a bunch of apps constantly running background refresh and draining my battery life. Put in an option for only while using or something, for crying out loud. It’s dumb that it doesn’t let me opt out of background refresh. Second of all, it would be really nice if truck location also showed approximate time truck is expected to be at a location - potentially with an option to view future scheduled locations/times to make it easier to plan. Lastly, I showed up once and the truck was on out accepting cash. I ended up scrounging quarters out of my change purse to pay for my tasty treat. It would be nice if the app showed which payment methods the truck was accepting. Lastly sometimes the line gets really long. I once stood in line for over an hour to get some ice cream. It would be nice if the app offered some kind of idea of current wait times. ### 1/5 — Miserable app *2020-10-15, version 1.0.15* Does not give accurate location information. There are worse things in the world, but it’s the end of the world for a 4 year old. Try explaining to a kid that they can’t get ice cream because an app is glitchy. It wouldn’t be a problem if their Instagram gave specific times and locations but they point customers to using this app to find where they are. Deleting the app and unfollowing them today. Oh and there is no setting to keep the music turned off when opening the app. ### 1/5 — Utterly baffling *2020-09-15, version 1.0.15* It’s 2020. The world is on fire, species are going extinct at a breathtaking pace, our soul crushing dead-end jobs are slowly killing us while our emotions shrivel into a numb-soaked void. All we want is to be able to find a creamy, frozen treat at the end of a long shift delivering fast food to upper middle class white people for $10/hour. We want to be able to do this while listening to the newest Billie Eilish single. But we can’t. We’re forced instead to listen to the demonically cursed Mister Softee jingle when we open the app. You can mute it. But you can’t listen to anything else except the suicidal voices in your head. At least there’s ice cream. ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — Was great for a while *2026-08-28* There is no longer a way to adjust settings, so alerts just blare out randomly and loudly now. That’s obviously not okay so had to remove it ### 1/5 — Never ending tune *2026-08-24* I used to love the sound of the Mister Softee truck. Unfortunate the app continually plays the tune and there isn’t a way to turn it off unless you lower your volume ### 1/5 — Eww *2026-07-14* Not only does the Mr Softee music play every time I open the app but it doesn’t even show me any trucks! Yes, I understand the location allowing part but why does it need my motion cues??? That’s just kinda odd like honestly it’s weird too… Another thing that I noticed was that the app wouldn’t allow me to track the exact location that I was at even though I have my location on. I also tried refreshing and scrolling out of the app which did not seem to help at all so honestly just don’t waste your time on this app ### 1/5 — Useless app *2025-10-07, version 2.0.0* Inaccurate and doesn’t update.
