### 3/5 — fun but glitchy

*2021-08-12*

for one, I couldn't exit the game unless i forced my mac to shut down. Also some of the puzzle answers didn't work, had to input numerous times or shut down, start again, only then did the answer work. The safe dial didn't spin all the way around, almost gave up, had to "spin" the pointer around 10-15 times for it to get to the higher numbers. but overall, i liked the story, the puzzles were medium difficulty, a fun way to spend 20-30 min.

**Developer response:** Really glad you enjoyed the adventure! To jump out of full screen you can either press "Option + Return" or move your mouse to the top of the screen and press the green button to enter windowed mode. Thanks again for playing!

### 3/5 — Very short for a paid game

*2021-05-03*

I do feel like I just paid for the privilege of beta testing this game because it’s incredibly short and seems a little underdeveloped. I’ve played free games that were twice the length. However, MUCH credit for enjoyable puzzles (as opposed to hidden object rubbish). I like these sorts of games and wish to support the development of many more. Hopefully ones with more than an hour’s gameplay :)

**Developer response:** Thanks for the review. I do try to pack in as much as I can but with graphics, sound, puzzle design, programming etc the task for a solo developer along with putting food on the table is a huge one. I do really enjoy it though so I will continue to develop greater games as I go along. Thanks again for playing!

### 4/5 — Pretty good

*2021-03-19*

Just came back to this after completing Camp Enigma 2 and enjoyed it.

Not very long but quite good all round, would love to see more puzzles included and a bit longer but I think this is a single person developer so pretty impressive really.

Look forward to more in the future

**Developer response:** Thanks for coming back and giving MISTICO another try! Hopefully going forward all my games will be much longer, as I develop more of what you are looking for in a good adventure! Take care :)

### 3/5 — Not too bad, but a bit short

*2021-03-10*

The game shows promise, but could be longer. It took less than half an hour to complete the game, and I’m glad that I got it on sale.

As for the puzzles, it would be nice to see more inventory based puzzles and fewer puzzles where codes need to be figured out in order to proceed. Also, some areas on the screen can easily be missed, particularly one area near the end where you need to tap on the far left side of the screen.

These are just suggestions, and I hope that the developer will consider them in future games.

**Developer response:** Hi there, thanks for playing my game. The length of the game is based on the average player time, some people spend days pondering the puzzles, other try to race through in record time. So getting the balance right can be difficult. Also considering the development time for a solo developer, I don't want to be spending years adding more and more content with zero income, I have to make a judgement call on when a game is ready for launch. Thanks for playing and I will definitely take your suggestions of more inventory based puzzles into consideration in the future! Many thanks.

### 3/5 — Early days

*2021-03-06, version 1.0.5*

I have just started playing this game and it is appealing from the point of view of relevant hints and Paths to follow. It seems to be oversimplified, but that isn’t always a bad thing.
It seems basic though and I am hoping this improves with greater challenges. I will review when I have played the game fully.

### 3/5 — Not much of a story

*2021-03-03*

For those who like escape room-style games, this is not a bad way to spend an hour. Like most games in the genre, the puzzles are not related to the story. In fact, there isn’t really a story at all! Controls are fine, except it would be nice to have a way to highlight the hotspots. And the visuals are impressive, especially for a solo developer. I hope the developer will make more games with a more suspenseful story—this is a promising start, but there’s plenty of room for improvement.

**Developer response:** Thank you for the feedback and playing my game! It's interesting you mention you'd like more story, I'll have to consider this in the future, although it is a monumental effort to just create the puzzles and environments, but I will try my best. Thank you also for the idea of 'hotspots' I'll take a took at what could be achieved. Thanks again!

### 4/5 — MISTICO

*2021-02-09*

With all of the code sequences I have had to totally close out of the game and once I restart the code works

**Developer response:** Hi there, you have to make sure the code box has reset - turn your volume up and listen for the beeps then the code will work - Happy adventuring!

### 4/5 — Short but clever

*2021-01-20*

I enjoyed that, especially now the dev has updated the save system. A short game but with puzzles that make you think just enough.

**Developer response:** Hi there, really glad you enjoyed my game! Really rewarding to hear when someone plays through my game and has fun. Thank you!

### 4/5 — MISTICO

*2021-01-19*

Help stuck at the door underground. Security system last checked bit V11.3 etc 🤔

**Developer response:** Thanks for playing my game!

Here's a Hint: Look at the dates checked. Is there any way you could use the day number to get a letter from somewhere?

If you need any more hints, please reach out on social media or email.

Happy adventuring :)

### 4/5 — Short but good

*2021-01-17*

I just finished this game. It is very short but enjoyable.

**Developer response:** Hi there, thanks for playing my game! Really glad it was enjoyable. Hearing positive feedback means lot! Many thanks.

### 1/5 — Mistico: $4.99: Scam or Joke?

*2023-12-10*

If this were a free game, it would be one thing. But it’s not. If the description said there are going to be 5 Parts, this is Part 1, buy the game now (to help fund the development) & as the rest become available, your game will be updated. THAT would be one thing, but it’s not.

The FULL GAME walkthrough is 12 MINUTES! That’s not a game, that’s a prelude. 12 minutes is an opening. ESPECIALLY with the intentional cheater brand name, the intentional name recognition with gamers designed to deceive you into thinking this game is going to be like “Myst.”

For perspective: when “The Room” came out it was free. A year later, they started charging $1. “The Room 2” $1.99. “The Room 4,” “Forever Lost 1-3,” “House of Da Vinci 1-3,” “The Witness,” are $4.99 games.

I don’t even know who to be mad at. The designer for charging $4.99? Or Apple for allowing it? I’m shocked that there was no one at Apple whose job is to vet games before they go up on the store, that said: charging $5 for THIS would, not only make the game feel incomplete, but it would be a poor reflection on us as a company & would leave our customers feeling ripped off.

### 1/5 — Too Short given the price

*2023-01-28, version 1.2*

Considering you are paying for an App, you would expect it to last a decent amount of time- unfortunately this does not >>> don’t waste your time or money

### 1/5 — Not up to par with competitors

*2021-12-06*

I can appreciate the hard work it must take to make a video game, but this effort doesn't really meet the bar of a sellable app. The puzzles are not intuitive, and can seem arbitrary. The 'Option-Return' exit of the game did not work for me, and I had to 'force quit' in order to leave the game. I do applaud your effort as a 'one man show', so to speak... but perhaps this project needs a few more people to measure up to the competition, and function smoothly. Best of luck to you.

**Developer response:** Thanks for the feedback, the work and effort that goes into these game is indeed enormous and more people working on a project would be hugely beneficial, sadly these people will need paying and funds just don't allow that at this time. Thanks again for trying :)

### 1/5 — MISTICO

*2021-02-16*

This is one of the worst games I have ever played. Items in the inventory list disappear before you can use them. I have restarted this game four times: disappearing ropes, disappearing torch, disappearing keys. What a total waste of money.

**Developer response:** Hi there, it sounds like something very unusual is happening on your device that isn't being experienced by anyone else. If you can reach out to me over email I can look into what is happening and help: games at m9games.co.uk

### 1/5 — MISTICO

*2021-02-08*

The combination 171115 does not work. Game over after a couple of minutes??

**Developer response:** Hi there, try turning up your volume and listen for the rest 'beep' to make sure the code box has reset before you enter the code, then it'll work. The latest MISTICO update adds a screen to the code box, so you can see what has been entered to help. Happy adventuring!

### 2/5 — Inital Review

*2021-11-05*

Fist off, I cannot exit the game. I'm unable to enter windowed mode and Option-Return doesn't work either.

I'm not ready to give up on the game yet... but need to be able to save and exit the game without resorting to a FORCE QUIT.

**Developer response:** Option-Return should toggle fullscreen mode, I do have a new version of Mistico in the works that fixes this problem with a proper Home button with auto save. Stay tuned!

### 2/5 — Short and Simple

*2021-02-16*

This would be great for a 4th Grader. The solutions are linear from beginning to end. Enjoyed the effort but this is not even close to a single puzzle in the referenced game from the past.

**Developer response:** Hi there, thanks for the feedback, perhaps you are more experienced at this style of game as your username would suggest. But I appreciate you giving my game a go, thanks :)

### 3/5 — No menu or settings or support

*2026-07-26*

I’m on level 1 and the code on the mirror does not open the door. I even resorted to watching a walkthrough and it’s the same as I am doing. What is wrong.

### 3/5 — Quitting is the only problem

*2024-05-26*

This game was actually fun and challenging, but as the other reviews have mentioned, quitting the game cannot be done. Literally had to unplug my iMac to exit. Option return does not work, and putting the cursor at the top of the screen doesn't drop down the tool bar like it does in every other game I've played. Once this issue is solved, I will go back and play it again. This game will be incredibly fun once this is fixed.

### 3/5 — Decent little game

*2022-12-30*

Basic in its presentation, but the puzzles are challenging enough without being ridiculously difficult.
Would have preferred the game to be a bit longer and to have a hints section along with a camera facility for recording important findings.
Certainly worth a go as long as you don’t pay too much for it.

**Developer response:** Sad to read you didn’t enjoy my game. I make every effort to create the best experience possible. If you have suggestions you can reach me here: chris@m9games.co.uk

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Fabulous 🤩

*2022-12-05*

Another superb game from this great developer, I constantly check to see if there’s a new game on offer, it frustrates me that ppl moan games are too short when they are so cheap to play, do ppl not realise the time and effort that goes into them? I’m ashamed for them. I think the price point is perfect for the fun on offer and am so grateful for the hardwork that leads to my entertainment. Please keep making theses lovely point and click adventures?

**Developer response:** Thank you so much for your kind words and continued support! It's amazing to hear that you've enjoyed my games and that you appreciate the effort that goes into making them. Although I mainly create 3D adventures these days, maybe in the future I might use all my new experience to create a brand new 2D point and click adventure... stay tuned!

### 5/5 — Fun Adventure Game

*2021-08-29*

Good fun and well worth the price!

**Developer response:** Thanks for the review of my game!

In all future games the code boxes have clear lights or screens indicating what's going on so your wish has already been implemented! :)

Thanks again for playing and taking the time to leave a positive review, it means a lot!

### 5/5 — Nice Game

*2021-06-05*

Enjoyed playing very much! It was a relaxing way to spend an hour playing an escape game frustration-free

**Developer response:** Thanks so much! So glad you enjoyed the adventure :)

### 5/5 — Top response

*2021-03-06*

Had a bit of a problem driving me mad. Tweeted the developer and got an immediate response and suggestions which enabled me to progress. Great game, great support 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼

**Developer response:** Thanks for the amazing feedback! Really glad you are enjoying the adventure :)

### 5/5 — Engrossing

*2021-01-17*

Was engrossed in this game for a few hours... the puzzles are very clever and if I ever got stuck the developer helped me out with a hint which I am thankful for...

**Developer response:** Thank you for the kind words, it really means a lot when someone enjoys my game! Take care.

### 5/5 — Fun game! Great puzzles🤔🤗

*2021-01-16*

Give it a go! Interesting puzzles. Atmospheric and great music - put that volume on. Developer is very responsive if you have any issues!

**Developer response:** Really great review, thanks for the kind words, really means a lot! Take care :)

### 4/5 — Atmosphere yes, story and puzzles leave you wanting

*2021-09-01*

Impressive effort from a solo developer. I bought the game on sale for 99 cents, don't think it justifies a higher price (in comparison to other titles).

This offers a high level of immersion and foreboding (feels similar to great titles like Meridian 157, Adventure Beyond Time) that isn't quite fully realized with the story progression.

The puzzles are pretty run-of-the-mill, with an over-reliance on figuring out safe combinations.

Hoping for greater variety and depth in future titles.

**Developer response:** Thanks for the encouraging feedback. To be even be considered in the ballpark of those other great titles is really amazing. Thanks again for trying my game!

### 4/5 — Need a hint

*2021-08-29*

Could I get a hint for the code at the lighthouse.
“Illustrations of plane might help”???

### 4/5 — Good but short

*2021-08-11*

Nice little game but way too short, I’ve farted longer than this game goes on for.

**Developer response:** A slight overshare of your bowel movements, but thank's for playing my game!

### 4/5 — Avoids the hidden object annoyance

*2021-08-07*

Good puzzles, no stupid hidden object based puzzles which is great. Dev creates puzzles which are at different levels of challenge - but all with logical answers

**Developer response:** Really glad you enjoyed the adventure! Thanks for playing!
