## What is Mittelbau?

Mittelbau-Dora mirrors the history of forced concentration camp labour and the relocation of armaments production to underground sites during World War II. Between 1943 and 1945, more than 60,000 persons from nearly all the countries of Europe were compelled to perform forced labour here for the German armaments industry. After the liberation in April 1945, the camp provided accommodations for freed concentration camp inmates; later it served as a reception camp for German deportees from Czechoslovakia. Today Mittelbau-Dora is a museum of contemporary history and a European commemoration site in one. 

With this app, you can tour the former camp grounds and the permanent exhibition in the museum building at your own speed and by the route of your choice. It provides basic information on 17 historically significant outdoor sites, supplemented with the recollections of concentration camp survivors. In the exhibition, the multimedia guide offers insights into the history of the camp as illustrated by a number of important objects.

The app can be used both as an interactive travel guide at the memorial and as a general source of information on the history of the place.

Wir bedanken uns für die super App. Als wir an der Gedenkstätte angekommen waren gab es leider keine Führung mehr für das Stollen Innere. Wir haben aber das Museum mit der Dauer und Sonderausstattung besucht und den kostenfreien Audioguide für das Außengelände genutzt. Dieser kann mit GPS genutzt werden, dann beginnen die passenden Vorträge von allein bei der Ankunft. Andernfalls kann man die Vorträge auch manuell starten. Wir waren mit dem geführten Guide circa 1,5 Stunden unterwegs 😕🙂

An der Gedenkstätte kann man alle Infopunkte abspielen, selbst wenn man z.B. nicht bis zum ehem. Stolleneingang oder Bahnhof läuft. Hier zu Hause mit WLAN kann ich darauf gar nicht mehr zugreifen.

Was mir aufgefallen ist: die weiteren Audiobeiträge mit den Erinnerungen waren nicht abspielbar. 
Das wollte ich gerne nochmal prüfen, ob das hier anders ist, aber von zu Hause geht leider gar nix.

Die App ist grundsätzlich sehr informativ, sie wird in vielen Sprachen angeboten, die man in Paketen nachträglich laden muss. Leider funktioniert Das manuelle Verschieben der Karte in der App nicht. vermutlich muss sie einfach geupdated werden, unter iOS 15 funktioniert es jedenfalls nicht, damit wird das Anwählen der Informationen zum Geduldsspiel.
