### 4/5 — Edited because they fixed saving. Excellent

*2025-01-17, version 1.5.2*

Edit , upgraded review because saving is fixed.
Much improved with saving and export options IK has finally paid attention to the IOS version.

Edit : so after contacting IK they said there was going to be an update for the save issue, 6 months later nothing.

Want to buy the full version , but at the moment I won’t, as when you save you get no option to type in a preset name. You can make new folders but it won’t let you name a preset file. The only option is to save and it calls it ‘preset’ If you go to delete a preset it will , but as soon as you touch the preset name window afterwards the app closes / crashes. Glad I didn’t pay out for the full version , frustrating as it is excellent.

### 4/5 — Saving Presets

*2024-05-24*

Not able to edit or save the naming of presets anymore 🤔with QWERTY keyboard…..

### 3/5 — Logic Pro NOT officially supported.

*2024-05-08, version 1.5.1*

After a back and forth with IK concerning an intermittent problem where state settings involving multiple instances of MixBus AU3 are NOT being saved, I received the following.

‘Thank you; we will pass this information on to our testing teams; however we should note; while Logic Pro can utilize the AU version of Mixbox; we are currently not supporting that particular mobile DAW but this guidance may have changed.’

So IK’s not inexpensive app is unsupported on Apple’s flagship DAW. Either Apple are unaware of this, or neither company wants to take responsibility. Yet both are happy to take customers money. Presumably on the basis of ‘it might work, but nobody is willing to guarantee that. Buyer beware.’

It’s disappointing. Since I’ve had Logic Pro for iPad MixBox has become my most used plug-in. But now I discover that neither company feels obliged to make sure it actually works! IK’s lack of support, therefore, should be clearly stated up front so that prospective customers do not buy a product for use with Logic, expecting it to work and any bugs to be squashed in timely fashion.

### 1/5 — Why is the purchase called “full” if it doesn’t come with the Sunset reverb???

*2023-09-14*

At the VERY least the description for the purchase should very specifically say that the Sunset reverb is NOT included so that we could know before paying money. Though this sort of thing has happened before with IKMultimedia in the past where they do something that is a bit sketchy to get a little extra money from people who are already customers. : ( kinda bummed about this nonsense.

### 1/5 — The most cunning business entity in the universe

*2023-08-31*

Beware potential mates- don’t except to get the sunset modules,
Even after paying in full, it will not provide you the sunset pack.

If you’ve read the title, it’s enough, In the AppStore it said the full version would cost only around 80 dollars! After that they’ve come up with the idea of an SE version, 59 dollars. The twist is, after paying for the full 80 dollars, hard earned with sweat dripping from your forehead, you do not get the Sunset Module, that would not be included in the full version, such a fool I were, to consider full version would consist all modules. Look at ToneStack, one of the most respected developers, just for 59 dollars, they’ve given you so much modules that it would take you months to explore. Look at what IK Multimedia did, refurbished old tracks bundles, compressed them, selling to the gullible iOS community. Integrity, transparency doesn’t exist anymore in Mr. IK Multimedia’s business dictionary. I hope you spend those Full Version, SE Version, Sunset Versiom to support the family, wish you health and happiness and wealth. Ohh, you already have the last one. Check Out Red Rock Sounds and OscAudios releases, trust me, you’ll be surprised at what they have done for you and us. Thank you so much IK. Keep discovering new ways to make ventures, not updating the app in years. Regards. P.s. the way you are going ahead, I’m a bit worried about the future, wouldn’t last long though.

### 1/5 — Full app access

*2023-04-13, version 1.5.1*

I just made the in app full purchase but I have the same amount of presets. It seems I already had the full app minus the sunset reverb bundle.
I need a explanation or a refund.
Thank you

### 1/5 — No presets with upgrade purchase

*2023-02-26*

After restoring purchase, deleting and reinstalling app using restore purchase again i have access to FX but there are no presets. I have requested a refund. I was annoyed at first but now think i probably have too many FX already, this was the universe telling me too many choices can stifle creativity.

Also their support page sends you in circles back to the same page offering faqs but no link to email or contact. Thats some slimy ducking of responsibility don’t you think?

### 1/5 — MoneyBox

*2023-01-25, version 1.5.1*

I feel that although this might be good if it’s the first IK product you buy, but if like me you have many of your other apps it’s like getting us to repurchase effects we already own.
Three more things:
• it’s too expensive overall
• I couldn’t find it in the App Store search. Work with apple to fix this.
• I heard there was a sale but you haven’t edited the app description text so I’m not sure if the pricing has made it to my local App Store.

### 3/5 — Great sounding demo

*2023-01-03, version 1.5.1*

It sounds really good.. but for this to be useful I need a master dry/wet so I can bring in the effects and fade them in and out as I please.

5 star and I’d buy the pack with the dry/Wet fader

### 4/5 — The box is in the way

*2022-11-09*

It will be nice if the modules can be used individually without the box

### 4/5 — Very Nice effects. sounds great.

*2022-08-09*

The only con is that it takes forever to load the preset pop up. Which makes browsing through presets vastly unusable and not worth using. It’s for this reason I don’t use it as much as I would like to.

### 1/5 — Greed

*2022-07-15, version 1.5.1*

As someone who bought this when it was full price before this freemium nonsense went down, it feels like I don’t even own this app anymore. Now they want me to buy other packs that have been added to this once great app. It’s good for effects but at this price model, and the behaviour of the devs I would say look elsewhere for your effects, before your $100 purchase is revoked when they pull this nonsense again.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Shady developer!

*2025-01-15*

If you buy their $79 “upgrade” , be warned: IK has a habit of delisting software, removing access to functionality you paid for and relisting the same thing at a new price.

They did this once already with Mixbox — charging us $40 for it, a version that had all the same effects and AUV3 support. Shortly after, they removed this paid version from the store.. listed a new free version without AUV3 and expect us to pay again for what we already paid for.

### 1/5 — Issues with Logic

*2025-01-10, version 1.5.2*

This is such a great app, but please address the issue with utilising multiple instances in a project in Logic. Namely, presets randomly not saving. The full version with Sunset reverbs costs £100, so this isn’t an impulse buy by any stretch. You need to sort this out or make it clear that the premier DAW in the iPad isn’t supported.

### 1/5 — To The Potential buyer!

*2024-09-23, version 1.5.1*

Charging effin 20 dollars for this cheap reverb modules, oh dear lord, this is not even comes close to the Original Sunset Reverb, oh my god, this corporation is like infesting and dear lord ripping out gullible people emptying their pockets! Why, is this on AppStore, Steve Jobs would ban this corporation, it’s not a musical patron, corporate benefit grabber, Jobs would hate their philosophy as Jobs is the only guy who did not do business, he created a vision for the people to expand their inner virtues,

And here comes IK, god, my dollars, even if the earth would get destroyed, I’m not getting the refund!
After 100 years, there would not be any one to remember this shallow existence of this corporation! Shame!

IK has tainted its soul since the priority of this corporate money grabbing entity is not the music or the musician anymore. Don’t get fooled by its fake tagline “musician first”, the original one is “musician with money first”.
My apologies for being truthful and be absolute frank.

Even IK ‘ s Full Version of MixBox doesn’t contain “Sunset Reverb”, should be purchased separately, how low a corporation may stoop to justf for emptying it’s customers pockets so badly! lol.

Someday this aggressive philosophy of financial gain would come back to pay back the debt. The world is round , nah?

### 1/5 — the worst blunder in history since the reign of J,Stallin.

*2024-07-24*

just lost the soul to be a human rather than a machine.

Fab could crush these toys with just breathe.

UPDATE: Still very annoyed that they even have pictures showing the Sunset Sound effect units but it is not included. That’s pretty scammy, but i’ve known this company to do scammy type stuff before. Grrrrr.

### 1/5 — Abandonware

*2024-06-27*

Caution , abandonware on IOS

### 1/5 — Crashes/Not loading in Logic Pro

*2024-05-14*

I have had this plugin suite since its arrival. I’ve used it in various projects and have been trying to use it extensively within Logic Pro for an entire album project I’m currently working on and it keeps failing me. Sometimes it loads the rack but no modules when I open my project. Sometimes the project will crash and when I reopen it, it’s just empty racks on everything, or sometimes just one or two. I’ve tried to combat this problem by saving presets, but if I hit save within logic, it doesn’t save it to MixBox with the current settings. After all this happening again and again I’ve decided to use other plugins, which is setting back this project a great deal. It’s a shame because when MixBox is actually loading and working it sounds great. Please fix this. I really want to use your great sounding plugins.

### 1/5 — Why did I pay so much for this?

*2024-05-13, version 1.5.1*

I’m pretty sure that the thing I paid for, which was about 40 quid, had a lot more than it does now… I want to either see a full refund or full upgrade. Not buying from this firm again till that happens.

### 1/5 — Incredibly greedy, let us use family sharing!

*2023-11-15*

$80+ and you think I’m going to buy for each member of my family that wants to use it to play music together?

Incredibly shortsighted and greedy strategy, boys. I think you ran the numbers wrong.

Eventide and FabFilter and many others (Actual pro grade developers) offer much more for less and allow family sharing. And cheaper apps comparable to yours are punching way above their weight.

What is your excuse?

I’ll be sure not to buy any more of your apps or peripherals from now on.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — iOS game changer

*2025-02-09*

With all the tools this has, and replications, it’s a major steal at this price point. The presets, and versatility each plug in has makes it a game changer for iOS production. I’ve found myself looking for emulations like some desktop versions, just to realize those are within this, 10/10 recommend.

### 5/5 — Great!

*2024-12-20*

I love this and have been using it for a few years now! Any chance we can get T-racks for iPad soon or an update of MixBox CS with new Compressors and EQs added? How about a link feature that turns multiple instances across tracks into a full on console and does it in a way that is easy on cpu? We could really settle the G.O.A.T iOS Auv3 debate right there 😎

### 5/5 — Amazing

*2023-12-17, version 1.5.1*

I was a bit worried when I read the other reviews of 1 star. Although the app blew my mind in demo version on AUM. So, I purchased the full package and it works…thank you! This app renders lots of my existing ones useless…it’s absolutely fantastic.

### 5/5 — The best

*2023-07-27, version 1.5.1*

The best effect collection on iOS. All that’s needed for great mixes in a well designed package. A joy to use with its great interface. What I’d like next as in app purchase is the Tape plugin.

### 5/5 — Sounds really Cool

*2023-03-29*

I would happily pay $20 for the full version. GarageBand Guitar effects and amp models are all free.

### 5/5 — Outstanding collection of effects

*2022-12-14*

If you’re serious about making your iPad/iPad Pro mixes sound more professional, this is the one to get.

### 5/5 — One stop shop

*2022-07-09*

Sounds amazing! Don’t need all my other audio units now. Go to for vocals and acoustic guitar every recording session. (Using iPad Pro) Recorded a Dean acoustic bass with a Lewitt 540s condenser and ran it through the bass presets, killer sound! No other audio units even come close for getting a good sound whatever instrument or vocal you are recording. Keep the expansion kits coming!

### 5/5 — My complaint fixed with the latest update!

*2022-07-07*

My main complaint (about not being able to purchase the Sunset Reverb) was fixed with the latest update. Back to a five star review! Thanks for listening and acting upon it!

**Developer response:** This was fixed on July 5th. Please give it a try today. This issue was resolved - Your IK Team

### 5/5 — Top-Drawer iK Support Save - Mixbox is back, but…

*2022-04-06, version 1.3.3*

IMPORTANT UPDATE ON MY REVIEW - FOLLOWING MY UPGRADING TO A 2TeraByte iPad Pro M1: almost 1.5Tb of free space, and ALL ISSUES BELOW GOT CURED. To save reading, I hypothesised that my older but trusty iPad Pro 2 had an undocumented issue with an awful lot of Audio Units, in GarageBand, around the point where the SSD free space got down to 55Gb. I now believe this is effectively proven true, as the new iPad with a massive 2000Gb total SSD, has cured any issues with Mixbox and a lot of others (see point below about how other users may unwittingly have ‘tripped’ this 55Gb free SSD point).

Now, I cannot say if the ACTUAL free space was 55Gb on my old ipad pro 2, or if really it was MUCH less than that, but iPadOS was hiding some use or making temporary use…in any event, I’d forgotten all about this issue, because it simply stopped happening once my free SSD space became massive. Apple should really document this - MicroSoft state min free HDD requirements, and now I am saying that I have determined that empirically, in my case, I found there MUST be kept around 70Gb out of the 512Gb of the ipad pro 2 SSD ‘free’ or else run into problems, which become unbearable at 55Gb.

Last point on this - this is a big ask in practice, because with iCloud, Apple make use of the user’s own SSD, now again empirically I find limited to about 22% of the device’s SSD (previously there was no limit, and that was debilitating). So with 512Gb, knock off 70Gb for ‘safe’ use of Audio Units, then 120Gb for iCloud grabbing space on the SSD…that’s 200Gb nearly of the 512Gb, the device needs to have, just to run with almost no room to create anything! Astonishing really, but true in my use case.

Below is my older/original review, the problems are solely related to free SSD, I urge users to deal with this undocumented issue before blaming the Developer….I am still a fan of this ‘rack’ arrangement, where modules are efficiently slotted in, and this Audio Unit has come a long way since the early days. I now find OTHER Audio Unit FX are crashing and having all my lovely painstaking tuning of settings, obliterated, zeroed, reset to default. Here’s what I think now is happening, that iKMultimedia are not entirely to blame for crashes etc - only MHO as a former IT man and now iPad Music creator: I have had a series of issues over the past months, and always the ‘free space’ of my iPad Pro 2 SSD is BELOW 55Gb. I am now aiming for 70Gb of ‘free ‘ SSD’ Space at all times, to run GarageBand iOS/iPad OS. So I am of the mind that this is a bit broader of an issue than just MixBox CS and the people at iKMultimedia. I never noticed the free space requirement of GB iOS before, although I knew it had to impact the baby DAW. My favourite other compressor by an entirely different and well-respected Scandi Developer (!) suffered the ‘zeroed’ issue, as did a well-known Saturator Audio Unit, again by a rock-solid and trusted, capable developer. Three entirely unconnected developers, cannot be all having a dicey time of it, with their FX AUs being ‘reset’ or zeroed or wiped of settings? No, this to me is now several occasions, where the only thing in common was my SSD was down below 55Gb free space (out of 512Gb total). I have a horrible feeling, a lot of people might also find their free space is down there at the danger line of 55Gb or so. A more complex song, will have it happen earlier, with even a larger free space than 55Gb on the SSD I think, and of course, a less complex and unwieldy song file maybe 750Mb or so, and only a few FX might be able to stand a smidgeon less free SSD space. I will name a dev if I think they are needing to get on a bit but having had the self-same type of problems, with three developers, unrelated, this seems like the SSD space is needed for GB to work and ‘remember’ or facilitate the AUs to remember settings and modules in the case of Mixbox CS. The comments below still are relevant, but I’m putting the star rating back up, despite having my song butchered by the faults that happened, just because I think this is not a feature anyone knew about. 55Gb to 70Gb is a heck of a lot of SSD to keep open. My older iphone only has 64Gb in total! Other related comments, bearing the above in mind: I just think the ‘fatal error’ or crash recovery needs to be rock-solid, and I only lost one track’s settings. I have to carefully consider now, the extent to which this can be used, even though when it works, it’s brilliant. Working, I love it. Cannot speak to Cubasis, have not used it in that although I have Cubasis 3 with all the trimmings. OLDER review follows…(pre-New Year 2021/22)… Now that Mixbox has emerged from a total change to the business model, hopefully it will have more people benefit from the strengths. A single Audio Unit FX slot, can house several disparate FX. I could stop there, that’s quite a big deal. By no means perfect, and nothing Mixbox does will add 4Gb of RAM to your Apple device. But, within the confines of the Audio Unit world, it’s a great option. Also, the standalone as well, which I am just about to try with my Squier Strat Classic Vibes 60’s version. Better days. There was a big glitch but iKMultimedia got through it, and mileage will vary as to how much issue there was. They are not the only developer to have a problem of this type, where when you bring up an updated AUV3, very rarely GarageBand or other DAWs say the AU is not recognised/present on your device! The worst is ferreting around trying to figure what settings you used on an old song. I will settle for it not being repeated, and so really it still is five stars, because tech problems in software this complex/sophisticated. will definitely happen. Only the fixing matters. Then the glitches get forgotten, for me at least.

### 5/5 — Thank you IK ❤️

*2022-01-11, version 1.3.3*

All in app purchase and plug-in not found problems have been solved and despite the inconvenience and that Christmas was lined up (for me at least) to enjoy some music making, IK must have worked through the holidays to fix it, so I appreciate that.

All is well and mixbox is working great, my projects are saved !!

As for the app itself, it’s incredible for trying out new sounds, fine tuning your mix, or adding the odd filter, delay, or reverb. It’s unmatched on iOS and the plugins are all top class!

It can be incredibly fun to throw a load of plugins at a synth and see what happens and I often find something usable, but it can also be useful for adding a subtle character, warmth, or depth to your sound.

I hope IK continue to add plugins!
