## What is Mixerology?

Ever wanted to find out when your KitchenAid® brand countertop stand mixer was manufactured? It's easy with Mixerology — all you need to do is point your camera at the serial number label underneath the mixer, and it will decode the model and serial number. No more guesswork, no more trying to decipher complicated charts or misleading Internet search results.

In addition to scanning the label on a mixer, you can also select a photo of the serial number label from your Photos library, or point the camera at a computer screen showing a photo of the label. (This is super handy when checking a for-sale listing.)

Mixerology also decodes the color code from your mixer's model number (if available) and provides links to helpful information about your stand mixer's model type, such as compatible bowls and accessories, care tips, maintenance information, and more.

Version 1.5 features the following additions and improvements:

*	Added lighting control to the scanning view, which can help improve scanning accuracy. Use the icon in the lower right corner of the viewfinder frame on devices that have a camera light.

*	If you've chosen a photo to decode, and the app couldn't recognize a serial number, you'll have the option to manually decode, using whatever the app *could* recognize as a starting point.

*	Improved iOS integration in the following areas:

	+	exposed decoding API via Shortcuts

	+	added a Share item which allows decoding of a serial number label from anywhere an image is available.
	
	+	added a Control Center widget which provides launching directly into the camera scanner.

*	Fixed recognition of "Ultra Power Plus" (KSM95/6/7) model types.

*	Improved recognition of photos in cases where the photo orientation is not ideal for a one-pass attempt.

*	Fixed bug in which optical serial number recognition was excessively strict, and in some cases would fail to recognize valid serial numbers.
