The sermons are life giving and instructive! But…Since the last update the app has become almost unusable. Usually it diverts me back to an old sermon I listened too a long time ago and won’t let me start a new one. I used to be taken automatically to where I left off in a sermon when I closed the app last time. Now every time I return it starts at the beginning. Please undo what you did! Update: Guys, this is getting worse! I'm losing patience. Now I can't pause the sermon without the playback goes back to the beginning. This shouldn't be this hard! It often gets stuck. The new UI looks much nicer but it doesn’t look like it’s been reviewed for all phones, for example some menu items are hidden when you’ve played a sermon but you can’t hide the control that shows the play pause button. Would love it if this was easier, the website unfortunately is quite similar. It’d be great if there was a “played” feature so I knew which sermons I’ve already listened to. Otherwise I have a hard time remembering where I left off. His series on Romans, especially chapters 5-8, are drawn from a deep well of living waters. When I type a word in search it glitches out and when I can finally play a sermon, when the screen goes out on the phone, it stops playing. iPhone 16 ### 1/5 — Cannot see the sermon playing. *2025-06-28, version 1.14.7* This is a very frustrating app. There’s nothing to be found in the way of a player where you can pause, go back or move forward. A basic function of the app is missing entirely. MLJ is my favorite preacher of all time. It’s a shame that this app is so poorly designed. Not only do you have the player glitch, it’s impossible to find any sermon without endlessly scrolling. At least, can’t “other sermons’ be organized? I got an email from MLJ Trust inquiring whether I’d like to participate in feedback on this app. Months ago! I signed up and never heard back. ### 1/5 — Doesnt work *2024-09-11, version 1.13.2* I downloaded this app to my i pad several years ago, but ended up deleting it as the downloaded content just would not play. Tried again today, and despite the passage of 2 years it is still the same. Downloaded first 5 sermons from MLJ’s Romans series, and went to play them in the car only to find out none of them will play. Cant be the ipad, as I have a new device since the original problem. Deleted it and it will stay deleted now. ### 1/5 — Used to work *2024-03-19, version 1.11.8* Used to work fine, but now I can’t play anything on it. I press play, and it then pauses after 1-2 seconds. Fix it 🙏🏻 ### 1/5 — App and audio freezes on most recordings *2022-05-05, version 1.9.5* Usually, I find that the freezing happens near the end of the track, but today one track “Sanctification in Romans 6 to 8” would not play from the start. You hit the play button, it changes to Pause II but no sound comes out and the indicator on the timeline does not advance. Note, I always Download the Sermons before listening in case that helps troubleshoot. Overall, SOOO thankful for this app as it helps me more than just reading the text, to hear MLJ’s voice. Will update rating once fixed (just want to make sure you see this as I had no other way to contact you). ### 1/5 — Good content, poor navigation and play back controls *2020-08-24, version 1.8* The audio content is good and cannot be denied, but navigation is unintuitive, meaning it’s hard to browse the library in an obvious and intuitive manner, and the audio player greatly lacks functionality. A way to improve would be to give the user the options to list the sermons by date, or scripture, or topic, or title. Or add the use of an audio timeline to navigate to allow the user to quickly move to other parts of the audio more easily. ### 1/5 — Crucial Feature Needed *2017-08-24, version 1.5* I'm giving this 1 star because of a crucial feature missing from the app. To listen to a sermon, the app must be open, and the screen must be on. If you go back to the home screen, the audio stops. If you press the sleep/wake button to turn off the screen, the audio stops. This results in a tremendous waste of battery just to listen to audio. ### 2/5 — New Update Issues *2025-08-20, version 1.15.5* Since the new update I can’t press the power button to switch the screen off as the sermon stops or if I leave the screen on it stops after about 3 mins when my screen times out. I’m on my iPhone 12 so not sure if it’s better on other phones. Wasn’t an issue with the last update and been listening for a couple of months. Great app other than that and great teaching. Hope it gets sorted then I can get back into the Armour of God series. ### 2/5 — Starts over instead of remembering my place *2019-06-06, version 1.5.11* I have tried this app a few times over the years. I love the content and wish I could get it to work. But the app does not remember where I was in a sermon. When I pause and then come back later, the sermon starts over again at the beginning. He was a straight forward man who never shied away from the truth. He loved our Lord. Previously it was a bit hit and miss, especially with wireless. Great audio quality considering the sermons are from the 1960s. Very best balanced preaching of the Gospel. With every sermon/lesson the Gospel is presented with passion, precision, logic and fire. One of the great men of God, who has no equal today. Today the Gospel is rarely preached, instead we have a watered down version in the church.
