### 3/5 — Good but could function better

*2026-09-05, version 1.24.14*

I hate chicken, all forms, minced, whole, skinless leg etc. I know it makes me a bit odd. I know anything like this is going to have lots of chicken recipes, that’s grand. But why can I not blanket avoid chicken in settings? Every search I have to manually go in and avoid chicken, and not just one hit for no chicken, I have to avoid chicken breast, leg, whole, minced etc separately. It gets tedious or scroll lots of recipes I will never even consider.

That being said, I like the shopping list function and easy to follow recipes

### 2/5 — All about the protein as usual

*2026-09-05, version 1.24.14*

Recipes are good (some need tweaking but that’s pretty standard) but the main issue is that you can only filter by protein content or calories per serving - no option to look for low saturated fats meals which would be great for people trying to keep their cholesterol in check (there are a lot of us!). Because there are thousands of recipes it’s very time consuming to look through each one to check the saturated fat content, so I will not be continuing my subscription after the free trial. Hoping this is something the team can look into implementing.

### 2/5 — App needs iPad version

*2026-09-01, version 1.24.13*

Enjoying the service and the recipes so far, but restricting full functionality to a phone-sized app is limiting.

### 3/5 — Confused by measurements

*2026-08-30, version 1.24.13*

I'm an American cook and I'm just about to cook my first recipe. It calls for 2 ounces of pesto, so is it 4 Tablespoons of pesto or 2 ounces by weight??

### 2/5 — Disappointing

*2026-08-28, version 1.24.13*

No meal planning as advertised, it’s basically a recipe app with a shopping list section, where you can create a shopping list for each week or whatever - that’s not a meal planner!
Some of the recipes do look good but nothing really better than other, free things that I already use

### 1/5 — Terrible app, worse customer service, scammers

*2026-08-20, version iOS 1.23.17*

Recipes are unappetizing and meal planning features are pretty useless.

Plus they will charge you a full year without your permission or warning and wont refund you. STAY AWAY!

Apple shouldn’t allow this type of scamming businesses

### 2/5 — great recipes not so great app

*2026-08-19, version iOS 1.23.17*

Love the recipes and shopping list feature but the app itself is so glitchy and slow it is almost impossible to use!

### 1/5 — Sort out your subscription service

*2026-08-18, version iOS 1.23.17*

Useless. The subscription only ever works on one device, and even that one is unreliable. The app and site consistently prompt us to start a free trial or start a paid subscription, despite having a fully paid subscription already. It feels like a scam, being unable to use something we regularly pay for.

### 1/5 — Horrible Customer Service

*2026-08-18, version iOS 1.23.17*

I used the free 7 day trial at which point my mom gifted me a year subscription. I cancelled the 7 day trial so that I wouldn’t be charged monthly and then used my year subscription. It did not work. The app kept telling me I needed to upgrade. I contacted customer service and asked for a human representative. The chat bot just kept telling me the gift code was linked to my account and it was working. I could not get in touch with a real person. Have not been reimbursed the $60. Total scam.

### 1/5 — The update is RUBBISH

*2026-08-16, version iOS 1.23.17*

App and website worked perfectly but now you can only create a list on the app and then to see the list you have to swipe across. Really useless to use now

### 1/5 — No good for allergies

*2026-08-16, version iOS 1.23.17*

Good concept, but only useful if you have no food intolerances or allergies whatsoever. Only asks you if you’re vegetarian, vegan or pescatarian. Nothing about dairy free, or gluten free, or ability to select individual ingredients as issues. Instead you’d have to check each individual recipe which defeats the purpose of saving time. Disappointing.

### 1/5 — Scam

*2026-08-14, version iOS 1.23.17*

Total scam don’t bother signing up for the free trial it’s a total rip off!

### 1/5 — Non functional on devices other than phones

*2026-08-14, version iOS 1.23.17*

I pay money for the mob recipes subscription. I now am forced to use the app which doesn’t function on my Mac and forces me to use my phone which I do not want to do. Who builds an app that doesn’t function on a desktop in this day and age.

### 1/5 — Scammy. I shouldn’t need an account

*2026-08-13, version iOS 1.23.17*

I don’t like that it puts you through the rigmarole of deciding what kind of dinners you want and giving all this life info just to make you make an account. Seems scammy.

### 3/5 — High Calorie Meals

*2026-08-12, version iOS 1.23.17*

Nice recipes but most are high calorie meals

### 4/5 — Great app but missing crucial feature

*2026-08-11*

I love this app and use it weekly for tasty healthy recipes but it’s really missing a family plan or duo subscription model. My partner and I split the cooking and shopping, which naturally makes it difficult if only one of us has access to the app (it’s stated to be an individual subscription). Giving that option would mean if we’re at the supermarket using the shopping list feature or cooking before the other gets home we don’t get stuck. Simple fix but would make commercial sense too and we’d paid an extra couple quid if we both got access! Just a thought.

Otherwise great app though!

**Developer response:** We're so happy to hear you're enjoying the recipes. And appreciate your feedback - makes complete sense so we're going to take a look to see if this is something we can do. Thanks again! The Mob Team

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Won’t cancel my subscription and refund me

*2026-09-02, version 1.24.13*

There’s no way to cancel your subscription on the app and it’s not visible in the App Store subscriptions. So you have to email them. I emailed 4 days ago, still no response or even acknowledgment. Be careful, they’ll take your money.

### 1/5 — This app is not free

*2026-08-31, version 1.24.13*

When you download it says in-app purchase but In reality they make you answer a bunch of questions and create an account and pay a subscription before you can even see how the app works and what it can offer

### 1/5 — NO FREE APP - SUBSCRIPTION ONLY

*2026-08-31*

This is trash. This app only works if paying 8$ a month/ 50$ a year.
Why not work with advertising on the app instead forcing people to pay 50 bucks to get recipes they can find by scrolling google with advertising only. I’m not paying for something that is available on multiple sites online anyways 😒😒😒😒

**Developer response:** Hi, thanks for your feedback! We charge a subscription fee for Mob so that we can keep creating great recipes, adding new features, improving the app, and supporting our users. To make sure it's the right fit, we offer a free trial with full access - you can explore everything and cancel anytime before being charged. We hope you'll give it a try! Sam

### 1/5 — Why did they bother?

*2026-08-31, version 1.24.13*

I use the phone app and so was excited to see the Mac one, larger page, easier to use, better than the website?
Hell no, it’s a mobile reproduction, tiny screen and somehow even worse than if I was looking at it on an iPhone 5!

Utterly pointless, if you going to do it, do it properly

### 1/5 — Misleading PR responses while support refuses legal rights

*2026-08-28*

Update: The developer publicly replied asking me to email support for a review of my situation. I already did that twice. Support firmly refused a refund by repeating internal policy and ignoring mandatory statutory withdrawal regulations under European Union law. Merely stating in the terms and conditions that trials renew automatically does not exempt them from consumer protection laws. Proceed with caution.

### 1/5 — Made without love

*2026-08-27, version 1.24.13*

There is zero customer support or heart from the creators of this app.

### 1/5 — No trial & waste of time

*2026-08-25*

You are required to answer questions then prompted to pay without a trial or any preview of the app and features. Better off using Pinterest and notion or other tools - there are other ways to monetize without gating complete access without a trial.

**Developer response:** We do offer a free trial but it's only available to new customers who haven't tried Mob before. If you believe you should be entitled to a free trial, feel free to email us at help@mob.co.uk and the team will look into this for you. Laura

### 1/5 — Unfair Subscription Practices and Ignored Consumer Rights

*2026-08-25*

Be very careful with the free trial. A full annual subscription is charged automatically without sending any formal invoice or mandatory statutory withdrawal information. When reaching out to customer support, they stubbornly refuse refunds and disregard EU consumer protection laws regarding cancellation rights.

**Developer response:** When you sign-up to a free trial with Mob, you agree to our terms & conditions. These explicitly say, that by signing up you understand that your trial will renew automatically into a paid subscription, unless you cancel beforehand. You can cancel at any point in time. If you would like your situation reviewed, please email help@mob.co.uk. Laura

### 1/5 — Trash app

*2026-08-24, version 1.24.13*

Only app on my phone that gives “No connectivity” constantly. Funny, all my other apps work fine. It’s not even usable. I want a refund.

### 1/5 — Great idea; zero for implementation

*2026-08-21*

App looks promising. However on use the meal planning functionality did not seem to be available as advertised. Secondly while cooking (even when using the cooking mode) had to make sure to keep interacting with phone as if phone goes to sleep not only do you need to wake phone you then need to search for the recipe you are cooking. Thirdly, appears to be a companion website, but anything you do on the website (even when logged in) directs you to the app - but no link or anything; just open app and start from scratch.

Really disappointed. This showed so much promise but implementation is such that I can’t justify paying subscription, nor justify recommending.

Hopefully developers will get their act together and actually provide the app and functionality they are selling. However currently it is snake oil for your starter….

**Developer response:** Thank you for sharing your feedback and bringing these missing features to our attention. Our team is actively working on improving the cooking mode and app experience so everything works seamlessly. We release new fixes and features every couple of weeks right now so we'd love for you to give us another go soon. Laura

### 5/5 — Great for busy mums

*2026-09-04, version 1.24.14*

If you actually want delicious food that 80% you’d enjoy eating without having too many disasters this is the app for you. I also love the shopping list feature I take around the supermarket with
Me and the instructions which contain the amounts of food you need in the appropriate section. Who knew common sense at last!

### 5/5 — Love it!

*2026-08-21, version 1.24.13*

I have made 3 recipes so far. My family has loved all of them! This app truly makes meal planning and following a new recipe super easy. I’m hooked

### 5/5 — App is down

*2026-08-17, version iOS 1.23.17*

App is down and not loading

### 5/5 — Brilliant recipes

*2026-08-14, version iOS 1.23.17*

Genuinely has transformed the way I think about cooking. I’m all about saving time and energy where I can and using the batch cooking methods has been fantastic. Recipes are really good and even though I will always put my own twist on something (or adjust it to suit my family’s taste the base recipes and ideas of how to change the meal so you’re not just eating the same meal twice has been brilliant, thank you

### 5/5 — Never need another cookbook

*2026-08-09*

Mob has become my go to for menu planning. Love the recipes, very user friendly. Also makes a great last minute, but lasting gift for someone who likes to cook.

**Developer response:** Hey there! We're so happy Mob's part of your cooking routine now. And you're right, it makes a great gift, share the love of cooking with friends or family, then you can swap favourites too! Happy cooking 😊 The Mob Team

### 5/5 — Best healthy recipes

*2026-08-03, version iOS 1.23.17*

Just makes healthy cooking every week so simple because it works every time

### 5/5 — It’s not all knowing. BUT!

*2026-08-01*

It’s not all knowing. And that’s okay. This app feels like you’re grandma’s secret cookbook. It’s helped to fan my already curious flame of home cooking meals. I used ingredients that I never thought I would to create some hella good meals for myself and others . Also learning what can go together. To make a bold meal that’s always in rotation. It’s not all knowing but that’s okay; it may not have the ingredient you are looking to use in the meal as a base. But I do believe it looks past the basic. With the latest update to have built-in alternative ingredients is a god send. Love that it builds a grocery list. Adjust for the size of servings so you may get some leftovers. I encouraged you to hold off on the Grub Hub and enjoy time in the kitchen. This app will be your secret weapon.

**Developer response:** We're so happy to hear about your experience Mr. Kae - you've genuinely put a massive smile on all of our faces in Mob HQ. Keep the feedback coming - we're loving it! The Mob Team

### 5/5 — Interesting recipes

*2026-07-31, version iOS 1.23.17*

Provides much choice and very user friendly to follow

### 5/5 — From Never Cooking to Hosting Dinner

*2026-07-28*

I pretty much cook exclusively with MOB now, which is something I never thought I’d say because I genuinely never used to cook. I was becoming really frustrated with eating badly, having no pleasure in meals at home, and relying on food outside that was often too salty or too heavy.
MOB has honestly been a small revolution for me: I now cook each recipe for three or four people and batch it into several meals for the week.
Some ingredients, especially certain oils or spices, can be difficult to find near me, so I sometimes substitute them or even shop elsewhere (which shows a real shift).
But overall, it has completely changed the way I eat: I feel much better, and I now genuinely enjoy eating at home.
The next step is actually inviting people over for dinner..! 😅 and honestly, give me another 3 or 4 recipes and I’ll be there.
Thank you, this is a fantastic app, and the value for money is truly exceptional.

**Developer response:** This is why we created Mob - it's amazing to hear the cooking journey you've been and we're so happy we've got to play a part in this! Can't wait to hear what you cook for your guests - remember you can adjust portion sizes on each recipe so no one will miss out on your delicious cooking! Thank you for trusting us - it means the world! The Mob Team.

### 5/5 — Great recipes and app

*2026-07-20, version 1.22.11*

Great recipes shopping and cooking mode for the app. There is some weird bug where cooking mode won’t pick the adjusted portion for recipes. Or it does after several retries
