Mobile eLogbook has been designed in co-operation with the elogbook.org FHI Pan-Surgical Electronic Logbook to facilitate completion of your logbook. Once you have entered your elogbook.org login credentials, the app will synchronise with the individual account. All operation and hospital codes, your favourite procedures, consultants and hospitals will be retrieved for use with the app to record all the necessary information in a format that will be instantly recognisable from the elogbook.org webpages. * Offline data entry You do not require a Wi-Fi or 3G connection to enter data in to the app. Ideal for environments with poor network signals. A Wi-Fi/3G connection is only required at the time of upload. * Upload functionality In order to upload operations to the elogbook system you will need to subscribe to the upload functionality. When you initially successfully validate your elogbook username and password you will receive a free 28 day trial subscription. Once this expires you will need to purchase a subscription to continue to upload - this can be performed simply within the app. Once procedures have been successfully uploaded, they will be deleted from the app. No patient identifiable information will be retained on your device. We recommend uploading data immediately or as soon as a network 3G/Wi-Fi signal is available. If upload is interrupted due to signal loss for example, data not yet uploaded will be retained until a successful upload is achieved. * Supported specialities The following specialties are currently supported, including specialty specific fields, e.g. laparascopic, 30 day mortality, sub-division of roles within procedures etc Cardiothoracic Surgery General Surgery Neurosurgery Opthalmology Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Otolaryngology Paediatric Surgery Plastic Surgery Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgery Urology * Operation and hospital codes Upon first use, the app will automatically download all operation and hospital codes from the elogbook.org website. As the elogbook.org evolves, changes will be available automatically. Simply “Check for data updates” from within the app settings. * Favourites and search The app will automatically download your favourite operations, hospital and consultants. You can also search through the lists of operations, hospitals and consultants. * Simplifying data recording Favourites are available at the push of a button. Search facility allows rapid identification of a particular procedure. Alternatively users can navigate through the operations list, identical to the elogbook.org. Duplicate fields when performing multiple procedures on the same patient by: - “Add another procedure on the same patient” prompt. This option can be activated in the settings page - Perform a “long press” on any patient record and follow the duplicate fields prompt * Operation List See all your entered operations ordered by date Patient ID, operation date and procedure are shown for easy identification * Security and encryption Mobile eLogbook is protected by a PIN which is stored in the iPhone keychain Patient data is secured using standard iOS file protection capabilities. I don’t mind the price because the pain is worth it. However one problem that has arisen with the app in the past few years is that when it uploads to the online bank (that I have meticulously gathered since medical school, over 10years as I am a final year surgical trainee) some data is missing particularly the date of birth - so if I open a case in the online version I cannot log out of it because I have to add a date of birth. So to iterate when I enter the date of birth in the app somehow it does not upload online, which is upsetting because it will take great efforts to find this again, and avoiding this extra effort is the precise reason I bought the app! I have to make up a fake date of birth so I can come out/close the case. Please please developers fix this - because it is such a handy app that I usually recommend as essential to junior surgical trainees and medical students until this issue. There is no help link in the app so I have to write about this ongoing issue here. Thanks ### 1/5 — Bad gateway *2024-01-03* Don’t pay your subscription, what a waste has stopped working. Hope it gets sorted ### 1/5 — Won’t log in - bad gateway *2023-12-30* Used to work fine but was prompted to pay my annual subscription fee today (£12 now). After this it would not let me upload cases / download favourites etc, and now won’t even let me log in, just showing an error message saying ‘bad gateway’. Hoping this gets sorted although I’m not hopeful given the apparent lack of any updates or input to this app for the last 4 years - not sure where the money is going! ### 1/5 — Mr Surgeon *2023-12-25* Its a shame I subscribed and used the App for 3 year and now it stopped uploading anything , my subscription is for other 8 months , ### 1/5 — Keeps crashing *2023-02-19* The app does not upload regularly and keeps crashing. I have been having this issue where it gives the prompt login failure. Was not expecting this immediately after I paid for the app. ### 1/5 — Non existent customer service *2021-11-21* Have sent multiple emails which have been ignored as I had to merge accounts for OMFS training. The app team are separate from the website elogbook team and they have also ignored emails from them on my behalf. Overall a very poor experience ### 1/5 — Good app but too expensive *2021-11-09* £15 a year is a ridiculous amount to pay for such an app. Put it to a reasonable price instead of forcing people to pay extraordinary fees for a simple app. Come on! ### 2/5 — None of the surgeries listed! *2020-09-17* This app has none of the surgeries I need to log. I might as well just be writing on a free note taking app or on paper and copy it to the PC version of the elogbook. ### 1/5 — Does not validate *2020-09-15* Initially it was a good app however for last many years it has lost its mojo. I could not even validate my account. However I am able to use elogbook original as normal.
