### 2/5 — Doesn't upload anything

*2019-11-10*

Handy app but only as much as Apple 'notes' would be. The barcode scanner is a positive but unfortunately an app crash caused me to lose a lot of data I'd collected as a student. I didn't realise the app hadn't uploaded my data to my actual logbook when it seemed it had. Nowadays when I try to upload anything, it just bugs out. A shame because it could be so useful!

**Developer response:** Please could you get in touch via the support email address - I'd like to know more about the issue you experienced

### 1/5 — Doesn't work anymore

*2012-10-21*

This used to be a very good app but since iOS 6 came out it's been transformed into a non-functioning, dangerous & time wasting app. Without any warning, it no longer saves unit numbers. As a result I had lost a full month of operating. Not knowing there was a problem, I never kept any of the op sheets so had to spend a whole day trying to recapture the data. The developers say they've identified the problem, but this statement has been out for more than a month. Seeing you pay an annual subscription, and the fact it's been out of action for more than a month and a bit, I would like the developers to release a patch ASAP and a full years subscription for free (or payback a proportion of the annual fee).
An app like this must be totally reliable all the time, not half the time - otherwise I'm better off with my printed op sheets.

### 1/5 — Bad gateway

*2024-01-03*

Don’t pay your subscription, what a waste has stopped working. Hope it gets sorted

### 1/5 — Won’t log in - bad gateway

*2023-12-30*

Used to work fine but was prompted to pay my annual subscription fee today (£12 now). After this it would not let me upload cases / download favourites etc, and now won’t even let me log in, just showing an error message saying ‘bad gateway’. Hoping this gets sorted although I’m not hopeful given the apparent lack of any updates or input to this app for the last 4 years - not sure where the money is going!

### 1/5 — Mr Surgeon

*2023-12-25*

Its a shame I subscribed and used the App for 3 year and now it stopped uploading anything , my subscription is for other 8 months ,

### 1/5 — Keeps crashing

*2023-02-19*

The app does not upload regularly and keeps crashing. I have been having this issue where it gives the prompt login failure. Was not expecting this immediately after I paid for the app.

### 1/5 — Non existent customer service

*2021-11-21*

Have sent multiple emails which have been ignored as I had to merge accounts for OMFS training. The app team are separate from the website elogbook team and they have also ignored emails from them on my behalf. Overall a very poor experience

### 1/5 — Good app but too expensive

*2021-11-09*

£15 a year is a ridiculous amount to pay for such an app. Put it to a reasonable price instead of forcing people to pay extraordinary fees for a simple app. Come on!

### 1/5 — Does not validate

*2020-09-15*

Initially it was a good app however for last many years it has lost its mojo. I could not even validate my account. However I am able to use elogbook original as normal. Don’t know where they have gone wrong.

### 1/5 — No uploading

*2020-02-17*

I paid £10 for uploading my data on to the app. Unfortunately , this never happened , so I am not sure if the app is reliable . I would like to complain about this .

### 1/5 — Refuses to upload or connect

*2017-09-11*

This was one of the most useful professional apps on my phone for the last 5 years of surgical training. It has not functioned properly for some time now - it no longer uploads to the elogbook (which FYI states that the app is from a third party and offers no support for problems with it).
It states that password might be wrong in settings but then will not allow that to be changed within the app; leading to an endless circle of attempts.

I would have recommended previously, not any more, especially as the fee has doubled to £10 a year over that time.

### 1/5 — Support!

*2013-10-23, version 2.1.3*

I have recently renewed my subscription and I am not able to upload or even just save a case! And there is currently no app support! What's going on!?

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Awesome thank you!

*2012-07-26*

As a final year trainee usually having to have a rush to get the logbook updated prior to the ARCP/RITA this is an amazing app! Update in theatre and the search function is what is missing on the website and makes it so much easier!
I would echo the other comments about the people complaining about the price, these are the new style trainees who no doubt winge about not being trained whilst not actually putting the effort in themselves.
Cheers mate awesome app and great effort!

### 5/5 — Worth it...

*2012-04-12*

Worth the 4.99 fee (it's less than the average Costa coffee round bought by most surgical trainees on a weekly basis...), and given that it's been developed by a surgical trainee it seems fair to pay up...
I've never been great at updating my logbook, as it used to mean logging into the desktop site. This app is quick and easy to use so can update logbook as you're going along.

### 5/5 — Jeet Rao

*2011-12-18*

Long awaited and will be long loved! Almost Flawless integration of eLogbook into an App. Worth the 4.99 a year.

I'd like to see the ability to add another procedure on a patient if you missed the chance to add it after entering the first. Currently it appears that all the details need to be added again. Also on some occasions i noted that after an update of the database, i had to re-update my favourites manually.

Thanks again.

### 4/5 — Handy app

*2024-02-18*

I have had this app for years and it has helped me get into the habit of recording my surgeries in real time to prevent the last minute scrambling to prepare for ARCP. I don’t mind the price because the pain is worth it. However one problem that has arisen with the app in the past few years is that when it uploads to the online bank (that I have meticulously gathered since medical school, over 10years as I am a final year surgical trainee) some data is missing particularly the date of birth - so if I open a case in the online version I cannot log out of it because I have to add a date of birth. So to iterate when I enter the date of birth in the app somehow it does not upload online, which is upsetting because it will take great efforts to find this again, and avoiding this extra effort is the precise reason I bought the app! I have to make up a fake date of birth so I can come out/close the case. Please please developers fix this - because it is such a handy app that I usually recommend as essential to junior surgical trainees and medical students until this issue. There is no help link in the app so I have to write about this ongoing issue here. Thanks

### 4/5 — Very Handy

*2019-12-06*

Very nice app.
The only criticism is the format for entering the patients date of birth. This is the standard Apple roll-down bars. For older patients this can take a while to do. On the full website version there is an option for ‘age’ rather than DOB, and this would be a welcome addition to the App.

### 4/5 — get it with a price

*2012-04-07*

Quite user friendly esp. when after surgery when you have a 1 minute in between case. I like the scroll down facility and the upload to the actual logbook. Downside: Once uploaded , you can't retrive it and the other big downside is the price - it is the most expensive one in the market ( as far as I know)

### 3/5 — Useful but could be improved!

*2015-07-14*

Could be quicker and have less steps involved in data input. There should be options for input of dates and DOB (scroll wheel vs manual typing). There should be a choice of date style (UK vs US). Also, it would be useful to have an option when editing an entry to duplicate that entry and then edit it (useful when you forget to add another operation for the same patient) to save you from entering that patient's demographic data again.

### 2/5 — None of the surgeries listed!

*2020-09-17*

This app has none of the surgeries I need to log. I might as well just be writing on a free note taking app or on paper and copy it to the PC version of the elogbook.

### 2/5 — validation

*2020-02-03*

I could not validate my ID and it keeps showing a server error

### 2/5 — issue with subscription

*2020-01-16*

I have payed for my update subscription now twice with the app still showing that my subscription has expired and it’s not working.
I have contacted via the developer email and still has not gotten a reply about my issue, I am not able to securely upload my cases using this great convenient app and it’s for a service I have paid for
