### 1/5 — Garbage

*2025-01-25, version 1.5.3*

Doesn’t connect most of the time. Keeps telling me my WiFi is off even though it says I am connected to ShopRite wireless. They should just give up on this app.

### 1/5 — Poorly developed

*2024-11-21, version 1.5.2*

I’ve been trying to use this app for years now and every time I download it it still doesn’t work. They should ask Sam’s Club how to do it.

### 1/5 — Joke of an app

*2024-08-24, version 1.5.2*

This is not really what it claims to be. According to the app description it says ‘you can quickly checkout without having to wait for a cashier to scan the items in your cart.’ Ah, if that were only true. The premise is that as you shop the store, you scan the items that you select. The app then keeps a running total of your items. One problem is that the total may or may not be correct. Price Plus discounts don’t always get applied in the app. So don’t count on that total if you are on a budget with only so much to spend. In theory they should come off at checkout but if they don’t and you don’t catch it your loss. When you get to checkout you in theory scan a code and you are out the door. But hold on, what’s the message on the screen that you need customer service to assist you in checking out? I thought you were supposed to check out quickly but that is not the case. Now you are being audited by the front end clerk. This can only mean that they have no faith in their software to charge the correct price or they think you are a thief. So you as a consumer are either beta testing bad software or you are stealing from them. Either way a horrible way to treat a customer. Should not be entirely surprised by this as Wakefern has long treated their customers and employees poorly. If I could give 0 stars I would.

### 1/5 — NEW APP IS AWFUL

*2024-04-02, version 1.5.2*

Poor!! Over 6 months now can not get weekly sales just says reload and when you do it DOES NOTHING ALMOST MAKES ME WANT TO STOP GOING TO SHOPRITE THIS “new app is horrific” NEVER HAD RHESE PROBLEMS WITH OLD APP

### 1/5 — Not working

*2024-02-25, version 1.5.2*

Each time I go to my local ShopRite, it doesn’t work.

### 1/5 — Glitching

*2023-07-10, version 1.5.2*

99% of the time I have to go through an “audit” when I check out. A cashier has to scan multiple items in my bags & make a mess of everything. When I called customer service they had no idea how to help. First they said Audits were random but literally 36 times in a row is not random. They said try clearing my cache in safari which didn’t work.

### 1/5 — Never works

*2023-03-17, version 1.5.2*

This app never works at my local ShopRite

### 1/5 — This is a poorly created and even more poorly functioning app.

*2023-01-22, version 1.5.2*

First and foremost… price scanning capability should be built into regular ShopRite app. I shouldn’t have needed to download a second app just to get the price of an unmarked item.

Second… the app required some sort of clunky setup. I’m standing there in front of the item messing around with setup and questions when I should have just been able to scan the item and get the price.

Third… it is asking me for a Wi-Fi connection… while I am standing in the store. Even when I give it one it keeps asking. Why is this needed at all. It’s a phone with cellular.

Fourth, once I put it onto the store Wi-Fi… it didn’t work anyway. I got nothing when scanning an item. Tried another item… same thing.
Other apps do this quickly and easily within their main app. This one has trouble handling this simple thing…even with a separate app.

### 1/5 — Not working at all

*2023-01-21, version 1.5.2*

It takes forever to get the scanning work. Can’t even scan one single thing. The app is still at beta stage.

### 1/5 — Mr Murrel

*2022-11-15, version 1.5.2*

You can no longer login on the ShopRite app without sharing your information with The Wakefern app. I’m deleting your App.

### 1/5 — Terrible All Around

*2022-10-30, version 1.5.2*

This is a terrible app and terrible in store experience. The app disconnects from the store every 5 seconds requiring multiple
Taps. When you get to checkout you need an attendant to randomly scan 5 items. Overall horrible garbage app

### 1/5 — Hit or miss

*2022-05-15, version 1.5.2*

Sometimes works, sometimes not. Please fix. Not the phone, have used it many times. Says not connected to Wi-Fi but it is.

### 1/5 — Accelerated Backwards Time Travel

*2021-11-09, version 1.5.2*

Wow! Using this is like time traveling back to 2008. I loved the ShopRite app that allowed you to click directly on a coupon and then be directed to the products covered by that coupon. I loved being able to look at past purchases and searches. I loved the quick ease at which I could shop from home.

I am now forced to use this Wakefern app, that lost all of the customer friendly improvements that ShopRite added to the app over the years.

Now I clip a coupon, take a screenshot so I can remember how many I have to buy, search for the item and correct size, click the number needed and then return to the coupons. It took 35 minutes the last time because I tried to remember each item. My account, after making a new password, didn’t carry any data over from the ShopRite so I can’t search for previous items.

So now, as I open the app again to shop from home, I decided I won’t be anymore. I will happily go to Giants where I can quickly get in and out by scanning my items and putting them in the bag as I shop. As someone who has certifications and degrees in aspects of technology, I am utterly frustrated and angered to not just go back in time by a frivolous feature, but to go back in time more than a decade of lost features.

### 1/5 — After last update doesn’t connect

*2021-07-29, version 1.5.2*

Worked great until about a month ago. Now it wont connect to the hotspot.

### 1/5 — Never Works

*2021-05-23, version 1.5.2*

Every time I go for my weekly food shopping I can never get this app to work. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling multiple times and it just never connects to the stores WiFi and won’t work over mobile connection. Really bummed because I have gone to other stores over Shoprite at times Ailey because their mobile scan apps work.

### 3/5 — Problem when asked for quantity of item

*2021-02-06, version 1.5.1*

I love this app until you have to enter information, such as how many of the scanned items are you purchasing. The keyboard takes up the lower half of the screen with no 'Done' button to complete the entry.
Then you are stuck!! You can't cancel, you can't scan more items, you are back to scanning at the register.
I am using an iPhone 6S for which this app is supposedly compatible.
Btw, the app hasn't been updated in over a year???? What is up with that?

### 1/5 — App seems not to work with iOS 14.4

*2021-01-28, version 1.5.1*

App is not working after last iOS upgrade, prior version works ok. But overall functionality is poor at today’s standards. Last release one year old? Really??

### 1/5 — App stopped working

*2021-01-10, version 1.5.1*

The app stopped working after the latest iOS upgrade. The app says it can’t connect, even though the phone is connected to the store’s wireless network.

### 2/5 — Amazing when works properly....

*2020-12-23, version 1.5.1*

I loved using this app especially during the pandemic. I don’t need to use a cashier or have someone touch my items again when bagging. (I know items get touched when on the shelf. But this avoids one more interaction.) It made shopping so much easier and I was in and out in no time flat! However, for the past few visits, the app has stopped connecting properly. It tells me there is a problem connecting. I can see I am connected to the stores WiFi and I have agreed to the login process. But when I go back to the app it has a problem connecting. I brag about the convenience of this app to everyone but I have become so disappointed and wished it would work again.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Camera scanner malfunctions

*2026-03-17, version 1.5.3*

When the app works it’s great, but recently it’s having an issue where the camera scanner appears fuzzy and unable to read the bar codes. My Wife has the same problem on her phone. Please help fix this.

### 1/5 — Desperately needing an update

*2026-03-01, version 1.5.3*

App is practically useless since I got a new phone. Camera is blurry when trying to scan a barcode.

### 1/5 — Scan needs update

*2026-02-10, version 1.5.3*

Need update for iOS 26.2 camera won’t focus on barcodes

### 1/5 — Does not connect

*2026-01-20, version 1.5.3*

The app no longer works. A message appears that says the app cannot connect, close app or continue to wait.

### 1/5 — Now broken

*2025-12-12, version 1.5.3*

Update. New iPhone 17 and iOS 26.1 Scannner is now wonky. Does not focus clearly on the barcode Have to try and retry before it recognizes code. On 18.2 and iPhone 13 it was great.

We used this today for the first time in the Byram store. The process basically worked but there were 2 hitches. First the scale in the produce dept seemed to update the shopping total ok but at the next scan there was an error message from the scale. I started back to the scale and on the way the message cleared.
Second at checkout there was an call attendant message. It seemed they needed to audit the bags after scanning 3 items we were able to pay.

Juggling the smart phone, shopping list and self packing was a lot of busy work. Suggest that you bring clips into the store to hold bags open on the cart sides to make packing a bit less fumbling.

Also consider setting the timeout on your screen to 3 or 4 minutes so app does not go to sleep.

Did this save any time? I really don't know. There were no lines at the self checkout so unknown if we saved time overall. I do know we were busier during the shopping trip scanning, packing and juggling the shopping list.

I will try it again next time and see if it is any smoother.

### 1/5 — Camera/scanner does not focus.

*2025-12-10*

The app cannot focus the camera. If this one function does not work then the app is unusable. I’ve used the app for years without a problem. The last few months the only way to get the camera to focus is to hard close the app and reopen for each item.

### 1/5 — Junk app

*2025-09-20, version 1.5.3*

I’m not sure what is the purpose of this app-it requires to connect to in-shop wifi, I did connect and ShopRight app works just fine, but this junk says it can’t.
Time after time after time.
Useless junk

### 1/5 — 0 stars! Couldn’t even use it!

*2025-09-01, version 1.5.3*

I downloaded the app only for it to insist I use the store WiFi. Once I connected to the store WiFi, it told me there was a problem connecting to the network. I should be allowed to use my own data of the store WiFi isn’t going to work. No other store app has this requirement (nor does it require you to have a separate app just for mobile checkout).

### 1/5 — App no longer connecting

*2025-03-19, version 1.5.3*

I just updated to the iPhone 16 Pro Max and the app will no longer connect when I’m at Shop Rite. This has happened two weeks in a row now

### 1/5 — Does not work at most Shop Rite stores I’ve been to

*2025-01-26, version 1.5.3*

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Love!

*2021-04-20, version 1.5.2*

I love this app. Super simple. Have to set up with customer service first but no big deal. Now I don’t have to wait in an insane checkout line or talk to people! The WiFi in my store is hit or miss but once it reconnects it picks up where you left off. My biggest thing is I wish I could integrate my shopping list from my regular Shop Rite app that way I don’t have to go back and forth.

### 5/5 — Convenient & Timesaving App

*2020-05-23, version 1.5.1*

This app is great. I open my reusable bags in my cart, scan and pack the items in the bags, scan my phone once at checkout, and I’m gone in half the time of my usual shopping trip. I just wish more ShopRite stores would allow access to the app.

### 5/5 — Good app

*2020-05-20, version 1.5.1*

The app works great.

### 5/5 — Awesome!

*2020-04-07, version 1.5.1*

It was so easy! In and out! No problems, wish shoprite had this years ago!

### 5/5 — First time use

*2019-09-30, version 1.5*

For the first time using the app, I was pleasantly surprised! I was expecting a hiccup or two for the first time, but they were easily explained to me. The only awkward times were packing up my purchases after checking out. Maybe an area for that would be helpful. Def will use again!

Wow!! This is a definite time saver!! I pack my items, go to the kiosk, put my card in, the cashier goes over my items and I’m OUT! I don’t understand why more don’t use this option. Cuts my shopping time in half.

### 5/5 — Works Great!

*2019-05-12, version 1.4*

The first couple of times I used the app I ended up needing a cashier to process the order, but since then the app has worked wonderfully. I started out with small purchases, but now I regularly buy $100+ worth of groceries with no issue. It saves my wife and I so much time at the store. Being able to bag groceries as we go, and then being able to just waltz through self checkout has made grocery shopping so much more convenient.

### 5/5 — Great App, store implementation is important!

*2017-10-22, version 1.4*

The app has been a great addition to an already good shopping experience.

Scanning is quick and reliable and if there were any early checkout glitches they seem to have been resolved.

Just as important as the app, is the in store experience that goes with it. Once you learn where the smart scales are for produce and the dedicated mobile scan checkout station, using the app for shopping is a no- brainer.

My only recommendation would be to add an in-app notepad for my shopping list. Now I’m forced to jump back and forth between my notes app and the mobile scan app.

### 5/5 — Register at Customer Service Before you Attempt to Use Mobile Scan App

*2017-02-28, version 1.3*

I don't know if anyone knows this or not but you have to physically go to the customer service counter at a participating "Mobile Scan" Shop-Rite and register yourself and your PricePlus Card before you can even use the Mobile Scan App. Once registered you connect to the Shop-Rite wifi network (Mandatory) then open the App and input your PricePlus Card info (Input only one time). Once that is done then the app will work as intended.

You can't just download the App and attempt to start shopping.

### 5/5 — Love it

*2016-12-11, version 1.3*

I love it. I walk by the other shoppers 2-3 in line and wave suckers! I'm bagged and ready to pay when I get up to the self checkout. it would be nice to have a section for my list so I wouldn't have to keep closing the app to bring up my list then go back to the app. Coupons too. And better communication between the app and register. I've had a man get mad thinking I'm doing a big order in the 20 or less self check. It took a few minutes for it to load. Otherwise, love it.

### 5/5 — I will definitely use this again!

*2014-01-13, version 1.0.1*

Be aware: not all ShopRite locations support mobile scan technology so ask at the service desk before you try to use this app!

The app didn't automatically log onto the ShopRite wifi network but it was easy to connect under settings.

Overall it was a very pleasant (and futuristic!) shopping experience.
